Apr 1 2010I'd Eat Off It: A Floor That Turns Into Furniture

Look around. Is there some crumpled paper and an extra pair of laces? Okay, you live in a shoebox. And now there's hope for decorating your cramped little gerbil cage thanks to Land Peel floor foam.
Created by Shin Yamashita, a student at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, Land Peel is a foam floor covering which also has panels that flip up and fold, to become any sort of furniture you might need: From a table, to a backrest, to a drink tray, to a footrest, to a pillow.
Now that's pretty damn genius if you ask me. But if you ask me, so are you. Ooh, hold on -- your mom's calling.
HAHA, YOU HAD TO GO TO KINDERGARTEN TWICE?!
Hit the jump for two more shots of the possibilities.

Almost Genius: A Carpet That Transforms Into Furniture [fastcompany]
Thanks to Josh, who already has a floor that turns into furniture, but only when he's tripping. Weird, mine turns into quicksand.

That would be great for college kids that don't have much space in their dorms/apartments or money for furniture. Unless this thing costs more than all the furniture it was designed to replace, in which case, I'll just go with a cluttered floor plan.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Backl Down where Max was running from bikers, and one of them hooked onto the car with a chain. Later after escaping, Baja found a hand at the end of the chain.

Doesn't really look or sound like it'll support a lot of weight. I reckon it'd snap off after I put a few things on it.
