Mar 8 2010Surprisingly Okay: 'The New Dork' Song/Video
Last week it was 'The New Dork Anthem', and this week it's 'The New Dork', a spoof of Jay-Z and Alicia Key's 'Empire State of Mind' by pantless knights, the same makers as the 'I'm on a Mac' song and dance. It's an attempt at reclaiming the term "dork" and embracing a new, positive connotation. I don't know about all that but the song and video were both surprisingly well made. And I'm not just saying that because Geico guy there was smart enough to shoutout Geekologie at 0:50, but yes, yes I am. You scratch my back and I'll -- okay stop, you're making leg twitch. Red rocket -- RED ROCKET!!

I liked it. It's not the best song I've ever heard but it's certainly creative and made me laugh. Glad GW got a mention too.

Yeah.....I'd rather not be compared to Perez Hilton, yep that's him at 2:20. It has a feel to it, like it cost a lot of money. It has a Hollywood taste to it....tastes like bullshit. There was absolutely no social awkwardness to it at all (which is the definition of a dork), which leads me to believe that this was once again just somebody's interpretation of dorks, nerds and geeks. Way to go stereotypes!! Woot!

This is the kind of shit I hate. I mean the fucking song even talks about the fucking sleekness of being a nerd, I hate it. When i see some hipster douche bag wearing a TMNT shirt and he fucking thinks that donatello is the "Uh...orange one" it pisses me off like nothing else. The song is pretty clever. Probably goes over most people's heads because they have no idea what an IPO or monetizing is. This is pretty savvy.
