Mar 25 2010Impressive Work: Mario And Peach Sculpture In The Style of Michelangelo's 'La Pietà'

mario-sculpture-1.jpg

Artist Kordian Lewandowski went and carved Princess Peach and Mario in the style of Michelangelo's 'La Pietà'. It is most impressive. I posted a couple more pictures after the jump, including a reference shot of the original artwork, and a shot of this one with Kordian beside it, so you can appreciate the scale. Good lookin', Kordian. And classy. Speaking of which -- any chance of getting Princess Zelda in the style of buttnaked woman?

Hit the jump for the rest.

Thanks to whit and Stuntman Max, who once carved an impressive Toad out of granite and then hid and watched while a hippie chipped his touch trying to eat his head.

DDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNN YYYYYYOOOOUUUUUU

I thought it was SUPER impressive until i saw that it was carved out of styrofoam. Now it's just regular impressive.

it's... it's magnificent! i think i shed a tear lol

Yes...This is probably the most badass thing you've ever posted G Dub! BTW...its tooth...not touch! I understand...I make mistakes too when I'm sitting on my computer trying to type and masturbate at the sametime.

I like it. I think if it was in real marble it would have been a huge waste of some guys life... but the quick and nice Styrofoam looks awesome lol... Hope noone tries to chisel the nose off of peach like with the real Pieta in Rome...

That is awesome in a thousand ways, great work. Before the picture of him standing next to it, I thought it was just under a foot tall & made of soap. That is brilliant work right there

@7 hahaha

Hey guys a little off topic but is the Geekologie writer the same guy that wrote for the website way back when it was Hedonistica?

Whatever happened to him?

Also remember when we all used to pretend to be Elvis Juleep. Ah the good ol' times.

And the best part is.... IT FLOATS.

#2 said it perfectly.

The original's pretty good too, considering it was carved by a mutant turtle.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Turtles should just know their place, that's all I'm sayin'.

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was assigned to meet a hitman at the airport, and drive him around Paris. They met Baja in a whorehouse, and Baja wanted to know what Max was doing there, but max never thought to ask her the same question.

fucking fantastic.

i knew this had to be good enough to post :P

erm, the Pieta was Jesus in Mary's arms after being lowered from the cross. Would this make Peach Mario's mother, and in turn make the entire plot of every Mario game incestual?

gross. I grossed myself out right there.

Where the fuck do you get a piece of Styrofoam that big?

Wish I could do that...

@18...I just cam!

@17...I just cam!

Corrected!

Looks like Mario's gonna get his first BJ.

Way to ruin a great piece of Michelangelo artwork.

Bravo.

GOD WHY????? man this is the gayest site everrrrrrrrrrrrrr

As soon as I saw this it made me think "aww man, Mario's last game over!"

meh.

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooooooooooosssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii not bowser

it needs only to be edible

someone do "The Thinker" as Mario

That would be funny and awesome at the same time!!
It would be....funsome :D or ... awennysome!

@ 30 That would be funny and awesome at the same time!!
It would be....funsome :D or ... awennysome!

I think this is well done! If it was carved out of something that would hold up like marble, it would be beautiful to put in a huge garden.:-)
