Mar 29 2010Good Job, Kids: A Children's Choir Singing 'Still Alive' (The Portal Ending Credits Song)

NOTE: Video is one of the most poorly shot pieces of crap I've ever seen so feel free to just listen.
This is the Gifford Children's Choir of Racine, Wisconsin singing Jonathan Coulton's, 'Still Alive', affectionately known as the closing credits song from Portal. Of course, you probably wouldn't know that because you never beat the game. All that talk of cake sent you running wheezing to the bakery, didn't it? Go on, you can tell your Uncle GW, I can keep a secret. But can you? Aaaaand I'm creeping myself out again.
Hit it for the entirely suitable for work video.
Thanks to sham and Bmajaiboiiii, who both sing and dance like angels thanks to stage performance enhancing drugs.

Uhhh... OK.....
5. Doombah - March 29, 2010 12:22 PM
Awesome. If only the video quality wasn't craptastic. :/ Oh well...what can you do? I wonder how many people in the audience got the joke, though. Most of them were probably all "Why the hell is it dark? I don't get it...".
6. Pissed Off - March 29, 2010 12:27 PM
I have no idea what this is or what it's from but this music sucked d!ck.
Sincerely,
Pissed Off

@6 welcome to earth, try immersing yourself in its culture.
i'm with #2! off to play.
8. Durand - March 29, 2010 12:56 PM
Why isn't this tagged with "Kill it with Fire"? This is proof that the robots have invaded our youth and are already in the process of converting them.
In other news, @6, try reading the article. It's quite insightful as to what the video is and where the music is from.
9. Laura - March 29, 2010 12:58 PM
I WENT TO THAT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! It's down the street from me, I can't believe it!! If only it were that cool when I went there!

11. Nexus - March 29, 2010 1:03 PM
It was good. But the end credits said the soloist was a third grader. Come on get a name and give the credits that are earned. Every one else got credit.

15. TamTam - March 29, 2010 1:46 PM
This video kind of makes me want to have 30 or so children, just so I can teach them this song and make them sing it A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THESE KIDS!!!!

21. Durand - March 29, 2010 2:15 PM
@19 Well played, Bizarro Me.
22. Mr. Poland - March 29, 2010 2:43 PM
It starts out "This WAS a triumph." Not "IS." Choir fail.
23. zaznz - March 29, 2010 2:44 PM
@6 you know there are places mentally deranged people can go to get help right?
24. Mr. Poland - March 29, 2010 2:50 PM
Although I should point out that, the initial slip-up ignored, this music had me singing along and makes me want to go play Portal, like, right now.
@6, I can't believe you've never heard of Portal. You should be royally ashamed with yourself. I agree with 23.
25. Ears are bleeding - March 29, 2010 2:59 PM
So the parents are cool with their kids singing about chopping up into little pieces and throwing them into a fire? Sucked balls
26. titsonsnack - March 29, 2010 3:08 PM
Portal was cool, the Still Alive song was cool, but a choir of school kids singing the Still Alive song ain't my bag, baby. How many of those kids even know what the hell it is they're singing about?
27. pekod - March 29, 2010 3:49 PM
Um yeah, this is way too dark for garden variety simpletons. Or kids, for that matter.
It's hilarious to us, because we are nerds, and the deaths of the volunteers are all calculated ahead of time. For anyone else...yikes. Faux pas.
28. Kokopure - March 29, 2010 3:52 PM
I love the credits...
"Soloist - A Third Grader"
29. The Naked Robber - March 29, 2010 3:56 PM
That was awesome.
For at least one day all of those kids' parents didn't regret having them.
30. Fealiks - March 29, 2010 3:58 PM
People who don't know what this song is from would have been listening to the lyrics thinking "what the FUCK is this song about?"
31. Dinosaur Rex - March 29, 2010 4:07 PM
@Splatter
That's sad, really sad.
You should be ashamed.
32. suomynonA - March 29, 2010 4:21 PM
Why didnt they offer me to be in that dress!?!?! >_<
Even though my junk would have been hanging out from the bottom but still, equalizer and sound-amplifying lights, i want!
33. slotzan - March 29, 2010 4:23 PM
how long do you think it took the kids to realize the cake was a lie
34. scarab - March 29, 2010 6:10 PM
that was cute. i'm wondering how many of the parents were dumbfounded by the lyrics. i also, rock out to that song on rock band.
35. Sir Bedevere - March 29, 2010 6:14 PM
I can't believe they let kids sing about science killing people for the good of humanity. I am so upset right now I feel like I should protest something.

37. Paty V - March 29, 2010 9:35 PM
Wow, #6 gets pissed off real easy. #4 just seems to be one of those people who stay confused. I love portal and I can't wait for fucking portal 2, as for those who are still scratching their head/balls wondering what that is, or what this song is from. Seriously need to take a look at why they are on geekology.
38. Alex - March 29, 2010 9:42 PM
omg someone at that school really likes portal, and the funny thing is that most of the kids and parents probably don't know where the song came from, but i do. WOOO DIE HARD VALVE FAN

47. Erik - March 30, 2010 9:22 AM
@6
Seriously, why are you even here if you don't know what this song is. I'm only a casual geek and I played this game for like a month straight. Non-stop. In my underwear. Eating is for pansies. So is work.
48. Tip of the hat - March 31, 2010 1:05 PM
Well done #6 for trolling everyone else below you who jumped at the chance to act undignified and attempt to make you ashamed that you didn't know what portal was. For everyone else...SHAME ON YOU! Seriously! Shame on you for allowing #6 to troll you as well as he did.
49. a zombie named Zoey - March 31, 2010 11:54 PM
