This is a "reveal" trailer for the new Sonic the Hedgehog coming to XBox Live because it shows a solid two seconds of gameplay footage. Aaaand it looks just like the old games. So that's cool. I get down with the oldschool. Also, OPP. Yeah you know me!

@2 Are you kidding? If you prefer the crappy 3d Sonic titles, that's your business, but this is clearly an improvement. Nintendo hit a winning formula with New Super Mario Bros (with good reason), so Sega decided to give it a go. I think it'll do reasonably well.

I see they're also sticking with the episodic way of releasing content ala half-life. Good choice overall, that way you only have to release an installment every console generation or so.

well, it worked for new super mario bros, it worked for megaman 9, it worked for that new conra... and it looks like it'll work for sonic. are sunsoft still around? a blaster master remake in the style of these would kick ASS.

I don't understand why they made Sonic and the enemies 3D with a 2D background. If the point of the game is to be a direct sequel, too look and feel like the originals; then why waste time making new sprites and shit? Just re-use the old resources, that'll make things fit better with the whole "OLDSKOOL RETRO BLAST FROM THE PAST, DAWG" theme.

It looks good, but I hear they are putting a homing attack in. This might make it suck just as bad as the rest of the sonic rejuvinations, fingers crossed though

Nit-picking: Anyone else a little disappointed that he doesn't seem to have the "leg-wheels" like the old games when he's running at full speed?
Ok, that really is nitpicking. I really am looking forward to this comeback though, it looks sweet! :) Will be nice to see the Sonic franchise get some old-school integrity back.

You guys are forgetting about the Sonic Rush and Advanced games. Sega has been constantly making sidescrolling Sonic games. They've just gone unnoticed or been absolutely terrible. The Mario and Megaman games shouldn't surprise anyone, because their respective companies never stopped making good games involving the series.
Sega, retire Sonic, no one cares.
