Feb 6 2010Finally!: New And Improved Ketchup Packets

Finally, after years of watching me struggle with those impossible-to-open packets, Heinz has decided to take my advice and invest in new condiment applicators. Impressive, but I suggested spray cans. Named (and trademarked) the Dip & Squeeze, the new packet-y things offer both traditional ketchup squeezing capabilities with the added benefit of -- wait for it -- DIPPING!! I'm gonna need a spit cup. Plus, 3x the ketchup as a regular packet. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? If you answered, "I'll never have to buy ketchup from the grocery store again", you are. High-five, cheapskate!
The future, to go: Heinz reinvents the ketchup packet [crunchgear]
Thanks to emerica and Julie, who put ketchup on everything including their partners. Kinky!

5. o0st0ned0o - February 6, 2010 4:13 PM
I wonder how they fare with being stepped on. A ketchup packet that doesnt explode isn't worth my time.
6. Cup-O-Jesus - February 6, 2010 4:18 PM
A condiment applicator called the "Dip and Squeeze"?
OH M Y!
Is it fuck in here or is it you?
7. Cup-O-Jesus - February 6, 2010 4:21 PM
"Dipper? Squeezer? Both?"
"So you can put delicious Heinz Ketchup exactly where you want it."
The hits just keep on coming.

um....yeah, they've had the dip ketchup containers at whataburger for really long time now. not both a squeeze and dip option though, meh, not impressed.
17. WhateverHelpsYouSleepAtNightBtch - February 6, 2010 7:44 PM
If I can't twist it tight and throw it on the ground and watch explode... than I'm not too interested, but its about time they've come up with something.
18. eron - February 6, 2010 7:50 PM
EPIC WIN!
19. Miaou - February 6, 2010 8:49 PM
OMG about time! I usually have to use about 20+ of these packets to get anything.

Police today closed down a TV station after finding that exploitative images of children in vulnerable situations. But a spokesperson for the ABC has claimed that the images of a young 8-year-old, Bindi Irwin, were “used for artistic purposes, or at the very least to fill 30 minutes of airtime on ABC Kids”.
The Grand and Ancient Order of Freemasons has taken over the European Union for a three year period, in a move observers say will only expand their web of control and terror. Supreme Mason Sir Alfred Hinman began his period of tyrannical rule with an acceptance speech that preceded the traditional black mass.

awesome idea.
23. Verstand - February 7, 2010 12:41 AM
Are they actually doing this now or is this simply a concept? They should do this. I'd kick a baby if this was but a concept.

26. Vector - February 7, 2010 1:59 AM
Are you *serious*?
We've had these things in Australia since before I was born...
Blatantly hot-linked: http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/1057468
Even better than the ones pictured, I reckon. You can get all of the sauce out of the container and put it exactly where you like it. ;)
27. crazyCore - February 7, 2010 4:12 AM
FUCKING YES!
28. Sum Maths Guy - February 7, 2010 4:46 AM
Yeah, these are seriously old news in the UK, we've had them since time immemorial witht he twist off tops so you can squeeze ketchup onto chips, or take off the lid for dipping. I'm waiting for Worcestershire Sauce water pistols to be available as restaurants.
29. atheistgirl - February 7, 2010 6:44 AM
Are they any easier to get into though?
30. Lee Harless - February 7, 2010 9:12 AM
That's what I'm talkin' about! This is real technology. Things that you can use in your every day life. Not like a dumb dinosaur shirt or a stupid old knife that explodes awesome air into a shark's belly. This stuff is important!
31. Lee Harless - February 7, 2010 9:21 AM
@26 & 28, lol, we've had these in the USA longer than you have. When you were a kid, they were still eating bat meat in Austrailia. This technology comes from the USA. GW just hadn't run across it yet. Completely forgivable minor error. Can't keep up with everything.
32. sadie - February 7, 2010 10:07 AM
I've always wondered why Mcdonalds offers various sauces for nuggets but dosn't have a ketchup 'dip bin'. Most kids dip their nuggets in ketchup.

More waste. What's wrong with a bottle? These will end up killing more wildlife in the pacific. Go packaging!
35. Alisha - February 7, 2010 5:59 PM
The UK has had these packets for a while? What, what?! Where are you eating! I demand you tell me!
36. Josh - February 7, 2010 10:44 PM
So pretty much like Whataburger ketchup has been for 30 years, except Heinz still tastes like shit.
37. Art Vandelay - February 8, 2010 12:03 AM
We've had more advanced portable sauce dispensing technology for decades. They are still holding out on you up there, Australia FTW.
Baby steps America, you'll get there one day!

You know the fast food driving drill: Heading down the Interstate, you carefully unfold the wrapper to your burger and make a place on your lap.
39. DC628 - February 8, 2010 1:28 AM
It's about freakin time. I could never stand the current ketchup packets. I better see these the next time I get fries in a drive-thru.
40. Cinema Obsessed - February 8, 2010 9:24 AM
Oh thank god! I can't believe it took this long!
41. Turbo - February 8, 2010 9:59 AM
holy frakk, FINALLLLY
42. Phillynate - February 8, 2010 10:24 AM
My brother tested these new packets out 6 months ago for Peters Marketing Research. They paid him to eat ketchup. WTF?
43. your mom is my whore - February 8, 2010 11:14 AM

i think that should be looked at as tech
shit when you get lasers and robots with guns why not?
i hate you robot lovers BTW
44. michelle - February 8, 2010 12:38 PM
Just like the Whataburger ketchup, except you can squeeze this one out as well as dipping.
45. SeattleTom - February 8, 2010 1:28 PM
Oh great, more high fructose corn syrup per serving!! I wish I didn't like ketchup on my McDonald's fries so much. ;-)
46. cabbo - February 8, 2010 1:57 PM
Pinpoint accuracy?
47. iggy_C - February 9, 2010 1:52 AM
Just for the record: if you spell it "catsup," go kill yourself in the street.
48. Lauramon - February 9, 2010 1:23 PM
these look just like the ketchup packets they have in japan already. i'm glad they're finally coming to the states but they were really slow on the up-take i think...
49. anna breland - February 9, 2010 1:29 PM
this brought me great happiness.
50. Tyler - February 10, 2010 11:00 AM
looks like it would get all over you when you squeeze it
51. courtney - February 22, 2010 12:44 AM
