![]()
NOTE: No real spoilers.
Thinking about going to see Avatar this weekend but don't feel up to climbing the basement stairs? I'm with you. Thankfully, this five-panel comic sums up the entire movie. BOOM, just saved you $10! Don't worry, no need to thank me. Well, there is something you can do (call the house line and ask my mom to drop another Lean Cuisine down the laundry chute).
Avatar Summary [comixed]
Thanks to Nathan, who promised not to tell anybody I went to see New Moon again instead.

5. ziu - December 19, 2009 3:04 PM
So if it took 10 years to make. does that mean the cats in the beginning start off as mario-esque pixel animations? *hopes and dreams
6. Beautiful but bitter - December 19, 2009 3:13 PM
The characters remind me of Pans Labyrinth. The movie trailer does not intrigue me, however, the trailer for the game does. It feel like World Of Warcraft mated with Max Payne.

But seriously, this movie is fantastic and the stunning visuals make you feel like you're on ... LSD or something. Maybe.
either way it's trippin'-balls-awesome.

Too much cool in this movie for me to watch
12. Marcie - December 19, 2009 4:55 PM
I know it's supposed to be a joke but the movie was sooo much more. It really is one of my favorite movies now. It's hard to keep in mind that almost everything is done by computer. Movie makeup could never of have done a job like this.
13. Lauren - December 19, 2009 6:02 PM
Saw the movie yesterday ... absolutely brilliant!!! AMAZING visuals, good story with a nice pace to it .... frankly, you can paint me blue and pass me a bow cuz I wish it was real! Can't wait for the sequels!

Yeah, the Dungeons & Dragons movie was ten years in the makling too...
15. Closet Nerd - December 19, 2009 6:58 PM
From what I've heard about this movie, YOU HAVE TO SEE IT IN 3-D, DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT ON DVD!!!!!! James Cameron used the 3D technology to create more realistic environments. He didn't do the traditional, shoot an arrow at the audience 3D..... just sayin
16. Yoshi - December 19, 2009 7:38 PM
mannn you guys shouldnt be making fun of this movie...its sooo epicc!!! plot sucked, character development is so-so, however, the visual effects redeem for all the flaws!!! its of my all time favorite movie...seriously.

I WANNA BE A NAVI AFTER SEEING THIS MOVIE. D: The 3D cinematics were AMAZING. Just.. everything about this movie, from the plot to the effects were great. Go see it. Now.
19. Tom - December 19, 2009 8:56 PM
Visual effects dont make a movie good...
Without an awesome plot and memorable unique characters its just hollywood shlock.
This entire movie is like a boring video game cut scene.
20. Beastman AIDS - December 19, 2009 9:00 PM
yea I saw this movie a couple hours ago and can confidently say it's the best film i've seen in a very very long time. Might have to see it at the movies again in fact

Saw Avatar today and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! Total great in every way. BEST GRAPHICS PERIOD....... And this is totally funny.
24. Josh - December 20, 2009 2:56 AM
Ahhh the Xbox360 leaks into film: "Best graphics period".
SIGH.
I already saw Ferngully and Aliens. I don't need to see the two mashed up via a hipster retelling of the brutality and hypocrisy of Thanksgiving.
25. Yoshi - December 20, 2009 3:07 AM
Avatar was so much more than a good plot and unique characters to be accounted for. For people who still slander on movie please go out and see it first...dont get ahead of yourself. The 240 mills was used solely for its visual/ appeals. Don't be so boxed up in "what makes a good movie." Avatar redefine the meaning. Through the visual effects alone, the experience was so worthwhile.
26. Darkness - December 20, 2009 7:02 AM
I dont care how long it took to make. Poor plot + too much CGI = Wtf am I watching?
27. Jaded Icon - December 20, 2009 8:14 AM

30. Dogless - December 20, 2009 10:56 AM
@Yoshi
So, what your saying is that, with CGI being so good, plot and script no longer matter?
+1 for the idiot masses.
31. cabbo - December 20, 2009 12:02 PM
@30 I heard the story was actually very good, if you could be bothered listening.
32. AaronZZZ - December 20, 2009 12:28 PM
Listen.... Its almost impossible to come up with a totally unique plot and concept for a movie considering there has been hundreds of thousands made. Cameron takes an idea and Breaths life into it. Cameron has an eye for detail very very few other directors have. This movie sets the benchmark for all graphics to come and was the most stunning, jaw dropping affects I have seen to date and I am both a movie buff and have always been into graphic arts. SEE THE MOVIE!!!
33. AaronZZZ - December 20, 2009 12:30 PM
AND yes the story is excellent. and relevant to the human condition.
34. Dogless - December 20, 2009 1:45 PM
@31
You heard? So you haven't seen it either?
@32
Dances with Wolves? Nah, I've sen it thanks.
35. PrincessPeach:) - December 20, 2009 3:01 PM
aren't comments meant for expressing one's opinion? is it really necessary for you ppl to impose yourselves onto others just because they happen to like Avatar? everyone's entitled to their own opinions but there is no need to INSULT others for what they happen to like.
36. Bowser :( - December 20, 2009 4:26 PM
MY opinion is PrincessPeach:) smells like tuna, and she's kind of bitchy.
37. Darkness - December 20, 2009 5:39 PM
What happened to Avatar? When I saw "Avatar" I thought I was gonna watch that little kid with the arrow on his head blast the heck out of people with wind and fire and stuff. THAT would have been cool.
I wanna see him fly on that bubble and pop it by accident and fall over.
Seriously though. That Avatar may have been a kids show but it had an interesting little plot to it. If they took that and added a more grown serious tone to it while retaining its feature it would have been much better than blue guys vs humans over natural resources for more government spending.
38. Darkness - December 20, 2009 5:47 PM
WAIT!!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!!!
Its supposed to be the Spanish Conquest in Mexico and (now) Latin America against the Aztecs!!!
Ha. Those dont look like aztecs to me =/
39. WeaZe - December 20, 2009 10:23 PM
This movie is boring, mainly because the script makes me want to cry. The visuals are great! Visuals should never make a movie though.
40. Joker Boy - December 20, 2009 11:05 PM
Goodness. This is why movies suck today. "Avatar" was incredible AWESOME! But no one will recognize that, because people (all moviegoers) are waiting from someone to "Wow" them and it's not gonna happen.
People complain about the effects not being "realistic enough" and then they complain about a movie have "too much special effect"... Screw you!
Filmmakers need to go back to the days where they didn't care about the studios, or public opinion or the media because they're all douchebags.
Good movies should exist regardless of whether or not you twits feel they are "worthy" or not. I guess y'all will like "Alvin & the Chipmunks 2" a lot better...

41. Matt - December 21, 2009 12:00 AM
Just saw it tonight and.....yeah....the story has been done before (essentially) but its still good and does have memoriable characters (the villan is a HARD mother fucker). Yeah, visuals dont make a movie good. But when you have a semi-decent plot, a AMAZING score and some good actors then the visuals make the movie all the better.
This movie is INCREDIBLE! Anyone who says otherwise CLEARLY hasnt seen it.
42. Catherine - December 21, 2009 12:19 AM
You know, when this movie actually came out, I was excited to see it. After I saw it, I didn't feel the same. It was more like a...
OHMYFUCKINGGODIWASBORNTOLOVETHISMOVIE
...kind of feeling.
And this post cracked me up :D
Although I feel like I was tho only one that saw it on Friday...o.O
43. Sweet Jesus - December 21, 2009 12:30 AM
Seriously? It was nothing but mocap. We've all seen mocap before if we own a TV. Cool, 2½ hours of mocap is new, but CG and human/horse/etc actors are not. This is nothing we haven't seen before.
I take that back- the movie was awful. Awful in a way I haven't seen in a very, very long time. If you needed proof that a majority of Americans are too stupid to realize they shouldn't be inhaling paint fumes, this is it.
44. nintendo dsi r4 - December 21, 2009 4:08 AM
Hello Guy's,
The movie trailer does not intrigue me, however, the trailer for the game does. It feel like World Of Warcraft mated with Max Payne.

46. Alixandra - December 21, 2009 11:15 AM
I won't see it because it looks like a bunch of preachy bullcrap thinly veiled as a "story". It's basically how a big, bad advanced civilization (Europe and America!) tries to exploit a peaceful, native and environmentally conscious civilization (everywhere else!)....just more libtard crap regurgitated and recycled yet again like it's new and groundbreaking. I am not gonna pay $10 or $12 or however much movies cost nowadays to sit there and have them hit me over the head with their propaganda for 2 hours...F*CK THAT. How could something so bland, trite, overdone and predictable as this take TEN YEARS to make? Jeez, if it took that long, you'd think they could have maybe come up with a less played-out plot? I'd rather wipe my ass with my money than send it to Hollywood, they're all anti-American nutjobs and while they have every right to be that, I have every right to not fund their insane propaganda. Too bad this sh*t won't bomb because too many people are unfortunately overawed by big shiny things, CGI and explosions to think critically about WHY we shouldn't support this crap....oh well.
47. Dodo - December 21, 2009 3:18 PM
@Alixandra
shut up you stupid small-minded ho. If you havent seen the movie, don't bad-mouth it. It took ten years in the making, so the initial storyline was subject to imitation by other companies that took only a few months or a couple of years to make their movies. It was worth it to pay only 10 or 12 dollars for an experience so phenomenal as Avatar.
48. Uncle Eccoli - December 21, 2009 4:32 PM
I never knew what an arrogant prick James Cameron is until the promotions for this movie began. I will never pay to see this after having listened to him suck himself off so many times.
Also, what Alixandra said.
49. Ayami Imako - December 21, 2009 7:37 PM
37: Actually its coming .. its called "The Last Airbender" though cause Cameron got the rights to the Avatar name first. And its directed by M. Night ... I can't spell his last name .. so will likely suck badly.
I saw Avatar .. it was really good actually and no not just for the effects. I liked the story.
50. suomynonA - December 21, 2009 10:41 PM
I just finished seeing it right now *cough*[on my computer]*cough*, and it was good. Some parts were cliche, and other parts were like WTF?, cause the cat people seem to be like an indian tribe, and how did they all speak english, and make wooden arrows, if they are on a COMPLETELY different planet?
The 3D rendering was pretty good too.
51. Sushi - December 21, 2009 11:05 PM
The movie was like watching The History Channel
Cowboy and Indians.
Dont waste your money. If you are mentally over 19 you wont enjoy it.
52. AaronZZZ - December 22, 2009 11:32 AM
@50 If you had actually bothered to pay attention to the story you would not have to ask that question, as the movie gives a perfect explanation as to why the Na'vi can speak english. And Why would you have to be from earth to know how to make an arrow??? Its fairly basic engineering.
53. AaronZZZ - December 22, 2009 11:46 AM
Like I said before "ALL PLOTS HAVE BEEN DONE" in one way or another. This is a fact people are going to have to get over or stop watching movies. simple as that. And yes this Movie is basically "Dances with Smurfs" But I can guarantee this plot has never been done with such beautiful visuals or bad ass fight scenes. Regardless of some peoples cynical ass attitudes, this movie is a great and a whole lotta fun. And Avatar is the New benchmark for Graphics in movies.
54. batman - December 22, 2009 4:52 PM
D!ck heads all arround the world, SHUT THE FK UP!!! I saw Avatar today and after seeing the trailers over and over again, i thought the movie would suck big time. But after 2 minutes of watching the movie, it completely blew my mind! Note for stupid d!ck headed 12 years old here, I saw it on 2D not 3D so your stupid comments suggesting that Avatar only has good visual effects won't work! If you haven't seen it then WTF are you waiting for, go see it!
55. Robin - December 22, 2009 5:52 PM
@ batman
AGREED!!!! IT WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE REGARDLESS OF WHAT THOSE CYNICAL BITCHES SAID ABOUT IT. Anyone who have seen thought it was good visually AND plotwise. Even thought it had been done before, Avatar by far is THE BEST of it kind.
56. Packerchu - December 23, 2009 5:21 AM
Maybe I'm being naive here, but shouldn't a 21st century film about a somewhat Asian culture have perhaps a few Asians in leading roles?
57. navi - December 25, 2009 4:52 AM
Seen it 5 times in 3D and can't get it off my miend. Can't what for the DVD!
58. Roni - December 26, 2009 7:25 AM
@ everyone who thinks great effects don't make a great movie - why else would you pay for a big screen experience? If you want plot and character development read a book (Amy Thompson's 'The Color of Distance' is a very nice first contact novel). For a lush and clever visual treat on a big screen, Avatar is awesome.
Although lol @ "Dances with Smurfs" ;)
@ Alixandra - I'm not too overawed by the special effects to think critically about the theme. I support that theme. It goes a bit further than simple imperialism - it highlights the ethical crises faced by people like the anthropologists currently working in the US Army's Human Terrain System in Afghanistan. Too many people are unfortunately overawed by big shiny things like America to think critically about why we shouldn't support that crap, too.
59. eron - December 28, 2009 4:50 PM
This plot is far better than the real thing
60. 60-year-old kid - January 9, 2010 10:47 AM
Anyone who finds fault with this film should reconsider taking the precious time out of their pompous, self-important lives to watch anything fun or fanciful. Entertainment is just that.
61. Naytira - January 11, 2010 7:11 PM
For those of you who have decided not to see this movie, I'm sorry for you. I'm not quite sure why, but Avatar is a fabulous movie. I really recommend it, and part of the attraction is the 3D, so may not be quite as good on DVD. I have seen it three times and am going again. You can just get lost in this movie, the scenery is so beautiful and flying the banshees is great. I have the game and am not quite as taken with the game, although it has some good points as well.
So, please rethink your decision about not seeing it. It is okay to criticize something, but first see it. This one is spectacular, and trust me, I am not really a movie goer, Avatar is a ten. Cameron has outdone himself, I can't wait for the sequel.
62. sumone - January 14, 2010 6:52 PM
dude, it suckded sooooo bad..i meangood grahics, but i hated it...it was sooo boring. i dnt kno why them nerds like this crap but watever. like idk why people like it...it was wayyy to long and i hate movies that you think they gonna end, but they dnt. which is wut this movie did soo much. eww i hated this mvie..waste of my time and day. the only reason i saw it was bcuz my friend made me see it.
63. Eliza - February 1, 2010 9:51 PM
That is not a spoiler and it is REALLY bad and not what the movie is about. I LOVED the movie and it was awesome! I couldn't focus much because I wasn't feeling good. I had a great time otherwise! But don't post stuff like this because it isn't funny at all and no one likes it. It is not like LOL cat's or dogs. And who the heck is the guy at the end? And don't call them blue kitties cause they are not that! There are many fans on here that looked at this and they will hate you to. Just stop it. It is an epic movie and you need to see how great it is otherwise you cannot judge it.
64. Bravo - February 7, 2010 10:11 AM
