Dec 18 2009Keystick Keyboard Folds Out From A Stick

The Keystick is a keyboard that folds into a stick when not in use for ease of transport and beating people. It was designed by Yoonsang Kim & Eunsung Park and I hope you know when I say it folds into a stick that that it's more like a ruler and less like a tree branch. Just so we're clear on that. Also, if I tell you I'm good in bed I actually mean I can sleep through the night without waking up and crying. God, I'm too honest. And good in bed.
Hit the jump for several more shots of the confused peripheral.

Thanks to tom and The Novelist, who don't use keyboards because they have secretaries that do all their typing for them. Oh yeah? Well dictate this: you're both jerks!

@6: I agree...
Where can I buy one? Oh yeah... NO WHERE because it's a fùcking CONCEPTUAL RENDERING and probably impossible to create in real life...

@1 would you be too afraid using it to slice your throat open the next time you feel compelled to tell everyone you're the first comment? I bet it's holds it's own better than you think

This can be a realized product. However The actual Board would probobly not be as "Streamlined looking". It would have to be made out of metal to be able to maintain its thin profile and still be strong enouph to use on a daily basis. There would have to be some sort of sliding mechanism on each "stick" or "Section" in order to slide open as pictured, But making the electrical connections between each section wouldnt be to difficult, You can just have small metalized pads that connect when the board is fully open making the connection from section to section.

Yeah. A neat concept, but likely another one that would not be quite as elegant in reality as in CAD.

Don't they usually attach portable keyboards to things already?
...I think they're called laptops.

This will be perfect for my computer that doesn't use a monitor or a hard-drive or a CPU or a motherboard....

Think of it this way, In a few more years all our Hand held devices will just be all the more powerful. I think the new IPhones have more computing power than My computer did 10 years ago. Also some other technology there working on is Flexible LCD screens. So Have this folding key board and a 16 inch "SCROLL LCD" monitor that hooks up to your Iphone or whatever, would be nice for airplanes or other situations in which you have to kill time but are on the go. I can see a market for this kinda thing at some point in the future.

Ergonomic Fail!
One look at these pics tells you it would be a pain to use. With each row of keys stepping down and away from your fingers, after the tenth time your fingers hit the edge of the "step" rather than a key, you'd bin it. They need to reverse the stepping from the front edge "up to" the top row with the pegs/feet making the slope correct. Pretty though.

It may be sticky, but I'd tap it anyways.

I'm currently developing one that's penis shaped.... and by penis I mean a square looking dick (the head is the number pad)

This really should be a laser keyboard. Come on, the physical is so...well...heavy and cumbersome. Also, why the hell isn't this keyboard out of QWERTY. Geekologie is smart about the electro-culture; why not just say this sucks because QWERTY is dead. Long live the Dvorak, screw the pooches!
