Dec 9 2009"Holy Cow": False Idol Or Not? I Need A Ruling

There was a cow born in Sterling, Connecticut with a cross on its forehead. He was nicknamed Moses by local children, but I'm still convinced he's the anti-burger.
His owner, Brad Davis, told WFSB-TV he thought the marking may be a message from above, though he is still trying to worl out what that message might be.
Ric Grummer, the chairman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Dairy Science, told the Norwich Bulletin newspaper it is not unusual for a Holstein cow to have a white marking on its head. But Mr Grummer said the cross shape is unique.
Nice, what do you think would come out if this cow and an ox with a heart on it's head had babies? I'm guessing a unicorn with a heart on its head WITH SWORDS THROUGH IT. Bitchin'.
Hit the jump for a closeup of the nog.

Thanks to Add not Andrew MacGregor, which makes the score 3-2 or 2-2 depending on whether you count And's tip from two years ago. That's up for you two to work out. Now you guys try to limit yourselves to a couple tips a day, please. And make them good ones.

Oh no, more Super Christians seeing religious signs in completely random things... Its called Pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant.
I hope they don't worship this cow. Actually, I hope they do and it shits in their faces.

I raise baby calves.
About 80% of them have a similar marking on their forehead.
This isn't anything special, at all.
I'm sure we have lightning bolts/swastikas/crosses/anything else you can interpret a spot on their forehead as.
For sure this isn't newsworthy in any sense, well except for you city folk who think farm animals are cute and cuddly.

@16 couldn't agree more. I'm from Tennessee (no i don't live on a farm, yes i have all my teeth, and yes i wear shoes..when i want to) but i have seen my fair share of cows and most are marked in some similar way that any fanatical Christian could discern something from
i.e.

Only an idiot would hope other people worship a cow just so they could get a sense of justification for their bigotry. And you, sir, are an idiot.
WISCONSIN FTW!!!

This is all part of a not-so clever add campaign by the christian church... They really plan on opening a fast food chain called "The last Supper". THEPOWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU! THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU! TO EAT OUR 100% SACRED ALL BEEF PATTYS!!!

It's actuallythe result of genetic engineering sponsored by a corporate giant for marketing, with the desired result being a public belief that it is a message from God. The message is, "Eat Mor Chikin"

oh my goodness, for one what is so special about it, it is a calf for crying out loud. Calves are everywhere. I am a Dairy Princess and it is my job to educate people about the dairy industry. Im not big on stereotypes but those of you from the city are not helping yourselves by saying these kinds of things. I am willing to learn other points of view than my own, but....
1. This is not a cow, it is a calf. If it is a bovine that has not calved (had a baby) it is not a cow. It is either a bull calf (boy) or a heifer calf (girl). This misconception is far too popular in my opinion.
2. This is most certainly NOT a holstein calf. The fawn coloring clearly denotes another breed. Jersey would be my opinion. The closest that particular calf could be to a holstein is if it is a hojo which is a holstein/jersey cross...but there is not enough of the trademark holstein traits present in this example, so i think it is just a jersey with a white marking on its head. Not uncommon at all.
3. As for the marking itself that is also not uncommon. There are many different markings out there, lately my calves have been coming out with question marks on their heads. I have seen letters Ls Rs Ks etc. hearts, ships, faces, I even saw a marking that looked like a llama. It is kind of like looking at clouds for patterns, only on an animal.
4.For the poeple who said it is a bullseye...well just a fact for you, you can shoot them in the head if you would truly like but I wouldnt reccomend it. They have very thick skulls in the forhead so it often takes multiple shots to kill them. So it isnt all that humane to do that.
