Nov 9 2009Woman Passes Driving Test On 950th Try

A 68-year old South Korean woman just passed the written part of her driving test on the 950th try. God that's scary.
After four years of trying, 68-year-old Cha Sa-soon finally managed to secure the 60 out of 100 points needed to pass the test. The grandmother has spent more than 5m won ($4,200, £2,600) on application fees for the test.
Mrs Cha had been trying to pass it since 13 April 2005, the Korea Times reported.Speaking in February - after her 775th failure - Mrs Cha had appeared undaunted. "I believe you can achieve your goal if you persistently pursue it," she told Reuters news agency. "So don't give up your dream, like me. Be strong and do your best."
First of all, anybody who takes 950 tries to pass a 50 question multiple choice test should be banned from driving. And secondly, so should all women. Am I right? No? Just sexist? Oh.

Thanks to twellve, who passed her driving test the first time. Nice, twellve, so did I. Well, on the third first time.

@ 5 are you talking about the picture or the 68 year old lady? cause I'd go after the 68 year old.
7. suomynonA - November 9, 2009 10:22 AM
Picture unrelated? lol.
Anyways, that's got to be scary seeing someone like that in person on the road. It would be like every wrong thing to do while driving, coming towards you on the oncoming traffic lane.

Maybe i should go to korealand where 68 year old hotties look like those shown in the picture above, even I could get in on that action...

I love how the BBC article paints her as some kind of inspirational figure for never giving up...
Also, this was just the written portion of the test, she hasn't even taken the driving part...how long is that going to take?
10. LSDiesel - November 9, 2009 10:37 AM
@9, First they have to find an organ donor willing to be her driving instructor.

Quick, someone make a video of this woman driving, it's a potential epic fail in progress.
They should have banned her after the 100th failed test. Seriously, this woman should not be driving a car.

Now, I don't feel as bad for failing my written part of the test!^_^

29. Wha?! - November 9, 2009 2:27 PM
@24
What the hell is Oriental? No one uses that any more. You must be a cracker.
30. Boodle - November 9, 2009 2:36 PM
If Korea's driving test is anything like the driving tests in Japan, then it's no wonder that she had so much trouble passing them. Japan's tests are so insanely hard that most people there won't get a license if they don't have to (like in the cities). You have to get a certain percentage (which is rather high) & you have to take multiple classes to pass.
31. Blastphemer - November 9, 2009 3:46 PM
Yeah, so that old lady shouldn't have gotten a license, is probably a menace, and will undoubtedly wind up being a headline at some point...blah, blah, blah, so on & so forth.......
What I REALLY want to know is if those "girls" in the picture are pre, or post, op? C'mon GW...don't leave me hangin' on this one.......gearstick is awaiting shifting.
32. TE - November 9, 2009 4:00 PM
To be fair, the written test is given in Korean and the woman speaks and writes in a Brazilian dialect of Portuguese.
33. bendizle - November 9, 2009 4:50 PM
@30 i learned to drive in japan...and it wasn't that hard... :S
34. Amaranth - November 9, 2009 4:55 PM

38. MAN - November 9, 2009 6:05 PM

40. Pissed man! - November 9, 2009 7:24 PM
It's pretty damn lame that if you have a penis you automatically get a higher auto insurance premium, in California that I know of. Women are just as bad or worse!! Here is video proof!!

spongebob
42. _me - November 10, 2009 12:47 AM
Ridiculous, 950 tries just to get a "D" EQUIVALENCY!?!
On the other side of the coin, she could've come to California and gotten it on her second try probably.
43. Ajax - November 10, 2009 2:51 AM
Women were invented to be nice to look at and to have babies with, not to drive. Oh yeah, they're also good for when you need someone to carry groceries in from the car.
44. supernova_hq - November 10, 2009 6:31 AM
Statistically, you could probably pass with less tries just by trying random answers!
45. Jaded Icon - November 10, 2009 7:19 AM
Seriously, the only reason she would not be able to pass would be because of illiteracy or stupidity, take your pick.
46. getalife - November 10, 2009 8:59 AM
The pic is Japanese (Mitsubishi) and the article is about South Korea? Generalize much?
47. graf zeppelin - November 10, 2009 9:51 AM
actually, all men should be banned from driving. especially young men who believe they are gods at driving. statistically, that would save tens of thousands of lives.
48. Gorramit - November 10, 2009 4:55 PM
@47
So, what, South Koreans are not allowed to have Japanese cars or are they just not allowed to model with them? Guess I should take my Toyota back to the showroom since I'm not Japanese. Besides, you dont know what nationality those girls are so STFU. Also, who the fnck cares?
49. myself - November 13, 2009 6:19 PM
Hard to believe. 950 attempts to get 60% correct out of 50 questions? Mathematically speaking, the probability of a case like this should be really low. It should take way less attempts by just giving out random answers.
