Nov 18 2009This Wasn't In The Job Description: Microsoft Store Employees Required To Dance
This is a video of the workers in a Microsoft store dancing around and clapping like the bunch of out-of-shape retail employees they are. That said, I would've passed out halfway through the song BUT ONLY CAUSE I'D BEEN DRINKING.
The Blackeyed Peas compel the employees at the Microsoft Store in Mission Viejo, California to break out in dance, let their hair down and have some fun. This is an amazing store, the employees seem really excited and engaged, almost happy to be at work. My favorite parts are when people walking in the mall come inside the store, join in the dancing and have some fun. The amazing thing is that people are in the store for hours, they love interacting with the software and learning about new technology.
Wow, like THAT doesn't sound like the biggest bunch of promotional bullshit I've ever read. People spending hours in a retail store, really? THEY'RE CALLED HOMELESS. The last time I ever spent hours in a retail establishment my mom forgot me at Sears while I was playing in the middle of a clothes rack and they closed the store for the night. And that, my friends, is why I can't sleep without a circular saw.
Thanks to Patrick, Mark, babysteps and Mixtech, who, dance! *pew pew* I SAID DANCE!

Is the guy with the camera stalking the girl in the green? He was around her for the whole video but seemed like he was scared to tape her for too long or something.
Just weird
And this is exactly why microsoft is better
10. somerandomguy - November 18, 2009 5:52 PM

"CAN I GET SOME FREAKING SERVICE!??!?!?!"
12. ObamaPacman - November 18, 2009 6:04 PM
Shoplifting at 2:14.
Microsoft employee attention fail.
13. somerandomguy - November 18, 2009 6:06 PM
And then they all started singing in unison "can i get some freaking service?" and created a whole song and dance number out of it. Happens all the time when I shop....just sayin.
14. Haha - November 18, 2009 6:10 PM
Check out the hogans on the chick in green. No wonder the camera man was focusing on her.
15. Andrew - November 18, 2009 6:18 PM
@12 - Excellent!! Genuine lollage, genuine shoplifting and genuine Microsoft employee attention fail!!! On a side note I would ride greeny, maybe... I can't see her face... Hang on, I can see her not-so-microsofts!!! (See what I did there!) Too right I'd ride her!

Is it me or are they all fat??? You americans :) always the tune to jugde never to understand... I guess the way you chose's better
25. somerandomguy - November 18, 2009 7:08 PM
Okay to everyone who was saying the girl at 2:14 was shoplifting: I watched it again and again and all I can see is her putting the brochure or whatever the heck it was into her bag. Yeah, her hand got close to the display but I never saw her grab anything off there. She just got tired of holding the paper. But, now that you mention it, if I ever encounter employees merrily/stupidly dancing together I'm taking full advantage of the situation and have a five finger discount of my own....just hypothetically sayin.
26. mousey - November 18, 2009 7:27 PM

Man,
And people wonder why Apple stores are doing well. Come on. These lame noobs do a dance TO AN EMPTY STORE!
There is nothing cool about this and 60% of the employees know it and are embarased to be there. If you dont see this, maybe you should be part of the..... cool crew that is Microsoft Store!!!! (Man, I'm going to barf)
30. Microsoft doing it all wrong - November 18, 2009 8:42 PM
case and point why MAC is waaaayyyy better. First microsoft is late on the store chain game and then they throw in this dance.... who wants to shop while this off-beat clapping is going on for 5 MINS. Lame... just sayin

Yes, this was a very very bad idea. However, I do NOT see this as being another stupidA$$ argument if Mac or Microsoft is better.. this is just about the cheeziest sales tactics I've EVER SEEN... seriously, I would love to see someone just throw flaming piles of BigDog $hit at all of these pride less sorry people. Just makes me sick!
35. percocet - November 19, 2009 12:26 AM
It's almost painful to watch Microsoft trying to be "with it". I feel like I'm watching the Dad from Modern Family dance to a tune from HS musical.
36. Anon - November 19, 2009 2:57 AM
This is perfect vindication for me pirating all of my micro$haft software.
I knew there was a reason to sh1t all over this f ucked up company.
37. Neil - November 19, 2009 3:07 AM
@ 33
Flash mobs are lame in general.
a few hundred people doing something lame all at once doesn't make it cool.
38. Pavementaled - November 19, 2009 3:24 AM
That is the lamest goddamned piece of shit I have ever seen, They finally get a fucking clue and take the Apple model of how you should run a reatil store, and then go way fucking overboard and dance the electric slide. Is this really a dance though? And they did it for 4:44 seconds, the same 10 goddamn dance steps over and over again. Stupid Assholes every one of them. If they start dancing in Apple store 's then I will start cutting myself like Lindsey Lohan.
39. lee.harless - November 19, 2009 3:45 AM
chick in the green shirt looks like someone's been rubbing a dry bleach rag on her thighs. haha! i look like the fat guy in the red shirt in the beginning.

42. Ashley - November 19, 2009 6:28 AM
This is just embarrassing and shows how out of touch Microsoft actually are. I can just imagine Bill Gates doing this on Christmas Day. They're trying desperately to be Apple.
Why's it go on for so long annoying clapping sound.
43. Jaded Icon - November 19, 2009 8:33 AM
I'll still buy their shit, but I sure as hell won't be dancing to get to it....just saying.
44. dparks - November 19, 2009 8:39 AM
The exact thing happens in "Joe's Crab Shack" food joints like once every 30min to tunes from 'Saturday Night Fever'. Yes it's annoying then as well, but The Shack mostly hires teh hawtness chickadees. Mostly.
And what's with all the Moobs? Get off the crappy line dancing and get your fat asses groovin' to Jazzercise! HO! YEAH!
45. Christina - November 19, 2009 8:55 AM
@24, no, you're fat.
@26, DUH! it's called the Hustle. It's supposed to be the same steps over & over.
The chick in the green shirt needs some properly fitted jeans. A person big on top with chicken legs should NEVER wear tight skinny jeans. *BARF*

@45 My wife calls that the "Loli-pop" look.

Eff it... i give up... you all can have the dance!!!

57. emptyaddy - November 19, 2009 4:55 PM
One could joke that they're basically trying to distract customers so they don't see how terrible Microsoft products are, but I couldn't help but notice how many god damn employees there are in one moderately sized niche-store. Seriously? Anyone ever hear of hiring caps? When Microsoft trims a little here or there I can see 10-15 employees in THIS store alone being canned.
58. Marley - November 19, 2009 5:52 PM
It might be more impressive if they weren't just doing the 'boot scootin' boogie' line dance which is basically three steps in a row over and over again until you want to gouge your friggin eyes out and were just free-styling and gettin' low instead.
59. ObamaPacman - November 19, 2009 9:45 PM

I have stood waiting in one of those damn stores for 25 minutes while the employees got their sh*t together. This explains a lot.
65. esco - November 22, 2009 7:30 PM
I love how the Microsoft store looks like an Apple store...and they're all wearing the same minimalist t-shirts and name badges that the Apple employees wear. Too bad they're not Apple. How many blue screens of death occured during this dance? I'm going to say at least 7...

I like how all of you can sit there and judge these people when all they are trying to do is have a little fun, or saying how bad a company is because instead of standing around jerking eachother off while customers ask stupid questions; this group of individuals decided to make the work place a bit more fun and inviting for outsiders. And I like how people can sit behind their computer screens with their grease covered keyboard, fingers that push down two keys at a time and say that this is stupid or gay, or that this company is copying another company. Why not just chill out and shut up and ignore it if you don't like it, or if it really bothers you that much go apple. Because we all know you are not the Almight Messiah come back to reign your supreme judgement over everyone. Have a wonderful day
68. Christina - November 23, 2009 5:08 PM
@45 like omg I am too fat to even fit into skinny jeans so I have to pick on people who can actually fit into them. Like I am so insecure about myself.
Did I sound like 45 enough guys, I sure hope I did, I just have so many insecurities!!! Please look at me.

72. Mike - November 27, 2009 11:14 AM
Kudos, but I'm pretty sure you are wrong and people do sit in these stores for hours at a time. I've even seen it. There's free unlimited internet usage at a very hi speed & plenty of Pc's and gadgets to play around with. Have you seen the signs in stupid Apple stores that say "Please restrict computer usage to 30 minutes max. For Potential Customers Only." ... yea, Microsoft doesn't do that in their huge stores like this one. There are plenty of computers you can see in the video and there are a lot of kids using them. I remember when my mom shopped for hours for Christmas or whatnot, and I would wonder around into brookstone or EBGames, to fiddle with any electronics I could find in the mall... for hours until she was done & called my cell. If I had had a huge Microsoft store with unlimited computers, I could have just sat in one spot & browsed the internet during those times.
73. mensa - November 27, 2009 6:51 PM
this is quite possibly the lamest shit I've ever seen.

Nothing electric about it and definitely no sliding.
