Scott Campbell is a famous tattoo artist who recently held an art exhibit appropriately titled 'make it rain', which featured stacks of laser-cut dollar bills. I dig it. And, not to brag or anything, but I made it rain once. Yeah, using an old indian dance. I AM THE L337 WEATHER WIZARD! Admit it, Harry. ADMIT IT OR GET ANOTHER LIGHTNING BOLT!

Hit the jump for five more of the awesomeness.

Thanks to sham, who once made it rain on a building fire and got a key to the city.

I like the skull

The skulls are rad.
But ah is this a federal offence?

cheap b@stard, he should use 100'ds

if he didn't have a real use for his money he should of given it to me

This is REALLY cool!!

Not a federal offense unless he tries to buy something with the bills.

i'm too impatient to be able to do that stuff

I just had an orgasm...^_^

@ #12.....I love you....

I don't think it's legual... but it's freggin AWESOME!

legual? wtf is legual?

Its laugel spelled backwards.

damn. thats amazing. if i HAD any money id totally try that.

Amazing. Nice work Scott!

Oh and I wish they would do that to that stupid f*cking geico stack of bills.

"I always feel like...somebody's BURNING ME WITH LASERS"

how did the paper not burn from the lazer, was it wet or something during the cut?

Illegal

United States Code
TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART I - CRIMES
CHAPTER 17 - COINS AND CURRENCY
333. Mutilation of national bank obligations

Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or
unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill,
draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking
association, or Federal Reserve bank, or the Federal Reserve System,
with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence
of debt unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

@19 thank you for that piece of info, I was right.

This last cut crap never impresses me. Anyone can do it. Not artistic.

he is using money to make these. this is the money, the mon mon. the munzees. he's using los munzees to make los. sank you sery such. oh smizzle smazzle get dollar mills and billzork. get billzork back!

How is this accomplished?

Does the artist actually do it or is it a machine?

If so, I'm about as impressed with this as I am a print-out from my printer.

It's the same principle, right?

I, dunno

So he cut it with a laser? Lazy art. No pun intended. Looks good, but it's pointless. I suppose if you're the type of person who wants a g-cup gal and a ferrari... oh. I see.

i cried wen i saw this, i culda used it. Hook me up first next time ya decide to jack up da skrilla.

@22,13, 14, jajajaa...

Did you actually just use a Wu-Tang line? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

@19 Did you actually read what you posted or did you just copy it and try to look smart? There are 4 keys words that you seem to have missed. Note where it says "with intent to retender..."? As long as he doens't try to spend or deposit these bills, he has not broken any laws.

@27. Maybe YOU should read it more closely. It says "with intent to render", not "with intent to retender".

According to that law, this is illegal. But who cares. It's not like money has any value.

@24 Art is supposed to just "Look Good", and if it accomplishes that, which you admit that it did, it's not pointless.

@27 "with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence
of debt unfit to be reissued" If you make it useless to put back into circulation is what this reads.

@27

Ass!

It's legal. As long as their intent isn't to fraudulently use the money, they can mutilate it as much as they want. That's how theme parks can mutilate pennies in those presses that puts their logo on them without getting in trouble.

Not to mention as accepted art it is protected regardless.

looks badass

Wu-Tang!!! Wu-Tang!!! ;)

money!money!money!money!

haha nice wu tang reference :)

I had to click on this, just for the Wu Tang reference.

this was a main highlight on stumbleupon yesterday.

Wutang!

Post #19 i think a few of these bill may need to be reissued, but this is still friggin cool.
http://www.ShopStunGuns.com

It looks cool, but if he just popped it into a laser tracer, punch in a few codes..... then its not as epic.

Hey ch4p3l - Ok, so I'm not the best typist. The fact is, that based on the artist's intended use, this is perfectly legal. If it makes me an ass that I read it and understood what it meant and you didn't, so be it. I may be an ass, but your a dumbass.

Oh yeah, and @28, you're wrong. It is perfectly legal as long as he doesn't intend to "render" these bills as they clearly are "unfit to be reissued".

That is kick ass.

First!

Also, your arguments are dumb.

@45 (the idiot moron)

render
–verb (used with object)
1. to cause to be or become; make: to render someone helpless.
2. to do; perform: to render a service

You didn't read it and understand what it meant. You weren't even close and you try to correct me? You are the dumbass!

Geekologie still rocking it, Queen's still rocking it, LA still rocking it...

No. You can't make it rain like that. YOU NEED THE SONG OF STORMS. -click-
