Nov 22 2009It's No Spider: Pokémon Battle Algebra

pokemon-math.jpg

Future college dropout Matthew didn't know how to work out problem #1 on a recent algebra quiz, so instead he filled the space with an amateur sketch of Charizard attempting to burninate (Trogdor tie-in FTW) the answer out of the ruins of his ineptness. Unfortunately, the teacher came back and PWN'd Matthew's Charizard with an even worse drawing of Blastoise (which may or may not actually be a flea). Wow guys, is this what higher education has come to -- Pokémon math battles? Because that's awesome if it has.

They're both drawn so poorly and the hand writing is nearly the same...

I wanna say this is fake.

i wanna say GAY

Fake, same terrible handwriting...

LMAO where was this teacher when i was in school. At least he/she knows how to have fun

yeah uhhm... this is tottaly fake.

This is linear algebra, not calculus...

This isn't fake, I'm in this kids class at Georgia Tech.

nathan

Obvious fake ... the handwriting and drawings are the same style ... the dumbass has just used a different colour pen. I think that makes this at least a triple fail?

@nathan cool story bra'

FAKE same handwriting would have been more believable if the writing wasent so crappy on the teachers part

the letter f matches the f on the teachers responce almost perfectly FAILED they should have changed up the handwriting

Spelling fail GW.
Alegebra?
Dude, stop drinking so early.
It doesn't matter if, "It's 5 'o clock somewhere".

The fakeness would explain why the mathematical comment above the teacher's drawing doesn't make sense. It's a good question, though. Maybe I'll use it for the linear algebra class I'm teaching next quarter.

Where's Daisy !!! ???

On slow news days, just sleep in.

uh oh.

I'm losing respect for geekologie for posting something so obviously fake...........

i bet this kid reads mylifeisaverage.com and wanted to try and be the "cool" the kids on this site are.

lame. i drew an anarchy stencil and a swastika on my maths paper and got in trouble. and beat up. no-one saw the irony of it all. no wonder i wanted to go columbine every day i was there.

Definitely the same handwriting.. check out the "z" in Chariz.. whatever that there pokeman's name is

Water Cannon isn't even a Pokemon move. Hello, duh.

Also, I'm a high school math teacher, and if a student ever drew this on an exam, I would give them an A.

MATT DAMON!

What a fail =\, Is his answer correct thought (in red)????

he could have at least asked a friend to forge the teacher part...

A solitary killer, the firetruck staljs his prey..

FAKE!!

You can tell his name isnt really matthew as it has been written like he only writes him on his bestfriends birthday card, and what he was really trying to write was george.

The rest however is obviously real, only a true teacher would write charizard the exact same was as a pupil!

DIGIMON is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY Cooler.IDK.......... just sayin..

His name is written very clear and neat but it looks like steven hawking wrote the rest using a pen in his mouth.

BTW, clearly fake, who crosses their Z's? ITS VERY UNCOMMON! Now im all upset.

same handwriting

so sad but so true....upon a deeper look....fake :'(
I wanted to go back to school just to match crappy drawings with this teach. because you know a drawing of wolverine would immediately own all!

FYI one of the all time best links I've ever posted

What if maybe the teacher was taunting the student by copying his horrible handwriting? u got to think about all the possiblities

Must See!!!

bet the teacher is a geek to, or he had help from his kids...

This is fake and shame on him, because this could happen elsewhere but now it's ruined because of you "Matt". FAIL.

THERE'S NO LYING ON THE INTERNETS, MATTHEW.
You have been warned....(and totally called out.)

dunno if it's real, but if it were and that were my math teacher, we would ride dark, powerful steeds into the dense fog of the unknown and crush all with our pokemans banter...............word

i cross my z's too!

FAKE!!!

This is an obvious photoshop job. You can tell its fake, the shadows are all wrong.

This looks like the scene from the movie Never Back Down where Baja wrote on a paper and was a different colored paper in the next scene.

and then Trogdor comes in the niiiiiiight! Lol! I love that shit.

No, no, no. This is real. Only because I love the participants involved in this outcome so much, I refuse to believe the it is fake. This is so awesome and
I wish I had thought of it. Therefore, it is real lol. And who the fuck said Dickimon/Digimon was better? WTF?!? In what universe is that true?

@38 The Digital Universe!!!

Seriously, guys, you think the handwriting is the same? I grade papers a lot and see handwriting styles that look very similar. One of the tricks to telling them apart is to look for particular letters and see if the stroke method is the same. The p strokes are clearly different for example. A few other letters are also done with different styles. I have handwriting that's as similar as these samples are to other people in my lab. I have to sometimes do a double take and check and see if I wrote something or someone else did.

@ 36

Oh dear god its back.

@40 shut up troll

For anyone who's curious, the answer is a=2.

The handwriting is NOT the same. look closely at the 'C','I', and 'e'. they're different. Lol, i wish i had that teacher.

the L's are curved in opposite directions, im not saying its real bu its damn sure not the same person

I remember doing these kinds of things in High School. And I actually got points for them too!

got some mad detective skillz, the blog commenters do

@47.... Thanks, Yoda.
