Nov 5 2009Inner City Bike Sports No Chain, Comfort

Because bike chains (and gold chains) are such a hot commodity in the inner city, the Inner City Bike doesn't have one. Or a comfortable seat. Or much practicality. I have to have it!
Bicycling to work may be the way to go for some, but parking could still be an issue. That's why Jruiter Studio has come up with the "Inner City Bike". It boasts an ultra compact design and has no chain to boot
There's a shot of a guy riding it after the jump, which I'll be the first to admit doesn't look as uncomfortable as I thought it would. But I won't be the first to admit where I hid the jewels. Not even if you tortur -- TOP DRAWER, UNDER ALL THE SOCKS. PLEASE DON'T HURT ME, I HAVE CHILDREN I DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT!
Hit it for a guy sitting on the thing.

horrible design. apparently i have to saw my legs in half to pedal that shit.
wack.
plus, a REAL inner city bike has no tires, chain, handlebars.......

did this win the 'make the most uncomfortable bike' contest?
4. STFLChan - November 5, 2009 3:26 PM
not to mention that the bike "seat" is going to be constantly acting as a nut cruncher since there is not shock support on the wheel that is right on your balls...

does this thing have any gears? so the solution to not having your bike-chain broken is to have such a shitty bike that nobody wants it? if i see this thing, i'll steal it JUST on principle!

CAFE BIKE!!!!

doesn't having the chain and gears make it easier to turn the rear wheel or something?
9. JADE - November 5, 2009 3:36 PM
No sir I don't like it.......
@4 I thought the same thing

@8 - you're thinking of power stearing IN A CAR. but having gears makes it easier to start pedaling. anyone can pedal at high speeds, shoot, i trained a monkey to pedal at high speeds - 'cept he was pedaling my junk. lol. he was good.

Unicycle FTW

I have two things, nuts. And, I cannot understand why the seat needs to be shaped like a tetris piece. Anyone have an idea why a normal bike seat (or saddle) wouldn't work here?
Also, the description indicates this was made as a response to the difficulty in finding a space to park your bike. Where the hell does this guy bike to? This thing is maybe a foot or so shorter than a typical bike, where could that make a difference?

As long as you live pretty close to where you work and there are no hills between your office and your home, this is a great idea. Now you can spend money to have a bike that can only get you places you could easily walk to. But wait, act now, and you get a free kick in the nuts!!

inner city LAME! Needs different speeds or at least a larger pedal radius than these wimpy 4 inchers!
@10 also different speeds come in quite handy for hills
Check the link FTW

You can't have different speeds without gears (And thus chains).
It avoids the use of chains by being a 1 speed bike.

hello 1900 (on equally-sized wheels)

@Tony: There are Unicycles with multiple gears, its called internal gearing. The design of this bike does not preclude it from having gears.
Either way, it is a piece-of-crap design. Totally impractical for use in any situation.

Cute. They brought back the boneshaker velocipede, but put the pedals on the back wheel so you can crush your nuts by leaning forward.
Gearing: The best they could hope for with gearing is to have an internally geared hub, but the only player in the market for direct drive with internal gears is the schlumpf unicycle hub, which is stupid expensive:

growing up, my dad owned a bike shop. so i was raised on bicycles. i live inner city and bike everyday. i can understand no gears (like the popular single speed or fixies) and having disk brakes is a huge help for rain and snow. but with the placement of the pedals about a foot and a half behind where they always are and non adjustable seat, it'll be the most uncomfortable ride of your entire life and pedaling behind you will be absolutely impossible. dumbest design thing i've seen in a long time.

Nice bike!
And my guess is, that peop0le riding this, are a lot more aerodynamic due to the position the body and legs are in. Not that i think that one actually can ride it very quick. The lack of gears makes it rather boated.
Btw, nice to see some geeky posts again, thanks GW!

@ 11 is correct, why not just ride a unicycle to work?

>> You can't have different speeds without gears (And thus chains).
Wrong. There are many different mechanical methods to "get" different speeds. Don't spread your ignorance about like dirty uncle bob's sexy christmas presents. And I think the term you were trying to use was sprockets - not gears.

Form, fit and function..it has it all. Nice to see someone finally made someting that isn't built for speed but can go anywhere. Up stairs, crubs..pretty muc anything.. Imagin the power you could produce with the large wheels.
