Nov 12 2009Google Streets Spots Fire Truck Hit Old Lady
Honestly, I bet the old lady ran right into the side of the thing (old ladies are notoriously bad bike riders. *ahem* Grandma -- I saw you hit that bus shelter!). There's a before shot after the jump, but unfortunately the above image has since been removed from Google Maps. I smell conspiracy. I mean, it's not like the old lady asked to have have it removed. Old people using computers -- HA! They're better at avoiding fire trucks!

This is actually a defence mechanism. Here we see the species homo sapiens elderus 'playing possum', as it is known. This reaction was triggered by the loud sounds and flashing lights of the firetruck which mimicks those of the species' most feared predators; the ambulance.

Why "innocent old lady"? I think granny had it coming. She obviously jacked that bike from some poor kid. The fire truck did us all a favor in nabbing a thief.

Looks like the google team helped her.. Whichever direction you go from the X, the lady is gone. So I guess they stopped and helped her up. Creds for that!

It doesn't look like she's anywhere near the path of the firetruck when she's on the floor so I guess she just braked hard and fell off. Still funny as hell though.

I think the google car even helped here since all other pics are without the old lady, and yes old lady tent to fall when stopping, there also are always sooo damn slow when stopping.
