Nov 6 2009Dolores: Germany's Hairless Spectacled Bear

Ever wonder what a bear with no hair would look like? This. Poor Dolores has lost her coat. She's a bare bear! I know, sometimes my word wizardry amazes even me.
Vets have been left baffled by the condition of the bespectacled bear, who lives at a zoo in Leipzig.
And Dolores isn't the only one. The sudden hair loss has affected all female bears at the zoo. Some experts believe it could be due to a genetic defect though the animals do not seem to be suffering from any other affliction.
The bears, which originate from South America, normally have fluffy dark brown fur and would now be growing a thicker fur coat to keep warm during the winter.
Well Rogaine those bitches or something -- this shit ain't right! As much as I do love hunting bears and killing the shit out of them WITH MY BEAR HANDS (more word sorcery), bald bears make me sad as hell. Remember Fuzzy Wuzzy? Brings a tear to my eye.
Hit the jump for three more shots, including one of what Dolores normally looks like.

Who's taken my fur coat? Vets baffled by bald bears with mystery condition [dailymail]
Thanks to LokkyD, Camille, Devin and Chris, who have all made love on faux bearskin rugs in front of fireplaces while sipping sparkling grape juice. Hell of a coincidence.

Thats kinda scary that they don't REALLY know why this is happening (and to just the females too!). Its still not as scary as the honey bees dying off in crazy numbers and scientists don't know why. Bees are one of the most important animals on this planet.
naas, my daughter LOVED the dancing mascots gif yesterday.
she just asked if she could see it again
19. shellshell - November 6, 2009 5:30 PM
It's Charlie from Lost's fault obv.....he's been busted in flashforward killing all the crows off, so it's prob him killing the bee's off and now he is stealing hair from German bears! (Next he will be stealing hair from German womens armpits!)
20. How cute! - November 6, 2009 5:48 PM
I find this beyoond adorable!!! LOOK AT IT!!! aaaaaaawwwwwwwww!
I wanna hug her & baby talk to her! It makes me think of a werewolf, ya know if they were real. Look at the claws on that puppy, excellent guard bear. =)

29. Truk - November 6, 2009 7:51 PM
Maybe all bears will have to be hairless someday.
30. Delgo - November 6, 2009 8:45 PM
Its fairly obvious she lost it from global warming.
31. Bea - November 6, 2009 9:01 PM
Poor bear! She looks more human without hair, and for this reason she's ugly.
Yeah, that's the truth, YOU HUMANS are all ugly.
32. Tom - November 6, 2009 9:13 PM
26 - spot on ;)
I honestly thought it was a wearwolf from the new twilight movie, but i can see how its real now.
33. DarknessInZero - November 6, 2009 10:37 PM
I like how there is a 'hair-removal' ad right under the blog post.

36. DeeplyThroated - November 7, 2009 1:24 AM
These bears are from South America. Awhile back Geekologie had another story about a bear-like creature from South America that lost all it's hair:
http://www.geekologie.com/mt/mt-search.cgi?search=sloth&IncludeBlogs=&IncludeBlogs=1&x=0&y=0
...figure out the connection *puffs on cigarette* ...and you'll find the follicles.
37. Insom - November 7, 2009 3:05 AM
It's obviously a Yau Gui from Fallout 3, The apacolypse is coming, the bears are just a bit early is all.

The werewolf remake. Now with less CGI and less hair.
45. naas - November 7, 2009 1:58 PM
@26 zomg hahaha, didn't even think of that..... awesome
@28 THERE IS NO DANA, THERE IS ONLY ZUUL
46. Dutch Morgan - November 7, 2009 2:02 PM
It's quite obvious to me that this is because of Global Warming. All the bears are shedding all of their fur to protect them from being too hot in the coming days of crisis. Clearly!
47. Dagney - November 7, 2009 3:17 PM
agreed with #26
I was thinking the same thing when i saw it, only couldn't remember the zuul thing, only ' thats like that creature from ghostbusters.'
48. weaselspeed - November 7, 2009 3:50 PM
... They said the bears were itchy in another article i read and that they were rubbing lotion on them... OR ELSE IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN!!!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8345550.stm
49. blahblahblah - November 7, 2009 5:34 PM
@ 48, that makes no sense what so ever, that bear would get so much hotter without fur, for one the sun would just be burning its skin, which happens to be black, and black absorbs alot of light, just saying
im not racist i swear
50. jdjaj - November 7, 2009 9:23 PM
only it's head hair remained, i think they are evolving into humans
51. joshy - November 7, 2009 11:58 PM
never have i felt so many things at once!! (with the exception of a couple mushroom trips) holy shit! first it scared the shit outta me then when i found out it was a bear with no hair i felt bad for it. then i couldn't stop laughing. oh some funny funny posts.

57. Luciana - November 8, 2009 8:53 PM
As far as I know, there are no bears in South America. And as I have always lived here, I would know if there were some of them around...
58. Joe Melnick - November 8, 2009 10:36 PM
"Bespectacled" means wearing glasses. Who wrote/edited/approved this article at the Daily Mail?
59. Lee Harless (The Great) - November 8, 2009 10:54 PM
Could you imagine if this thing stood upright and could speak in Evil English?
60. free online adventure games - November 8, 2009 11:04 PM

62. Joshee - November 9, 2009 3:51 AM

63. Ebee - November 9, 2009 6:53 AM
This bear is scary looking it looks like at any moment it is going to stand upright and start running and howling like a werewolf, it could also use a little lotion it's skin looks pretty dry.

64. Jaded Icon - November 9, 2009 8:34 AM
Somehow does not seem as scary....it's like the opposite of STOMPY's mom when she shaves...
65. Grubba - November 9, 2009 11:41 AM
Actually, looks like the videos and pictures of the "Montalk Monster" that washed u on the eastern seaboard a while ago. So much so, that the Montalk Monster's pretty much ruined for me.

67. Pietro - November 9, 2009 8:53 PM
u guys are laughting of your own cause of decay
68. Jess - November 9, 2009 11:53 PM
Ummm if you said this is due to global warming you are obviously ignorant. Or possibly dropped out of school b4 you turned 16. If the condition is an evolutionary response to global warming then global warming would have had to be occuring for at least the past hundred years; hairless bears would have had to survive and pass their genes down. It is likely to be some sort of stress/chemical response to some external or internal stimuli; has anyone investigated the conditions of the zoo??? Are they overcrowded; etc. Dont just jump on the global warming band wagon and try to sound smart. At least the werewolf comments are creative; not idiotic!!! Cause yeah I thought it was a werewolf picture at first too lol :)
69. Jaded Icon - November 10, 2009 7:10 AM
@ 69
I understand you point, however, I think most of the commenters that claimed "global warming" were being sarcastic.
70. Daedalus - November 10, 2009 3:16 PM
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
