Nov 24 2009Data In The Couch Cushions: USB Sofas

usb-sofas.jpg

Ever wanted a couch with USB storage in it? Me neither, but now that I know it exists I must have it! And I better not lose data like pocket change.

The sofas were made by creative design studio Cabracega for last year's International Festival for the Post-Digital Creation Culture (OFFF). As you can see (you'll have to squint a little) the sofas have USB cables coming out of them. The 4 sofas store a total of 14GB of files which doesn't seem like a lot, but I'm pretty sure no other storage device can accommodate up to 4 people

So now you can literally SIT on your porn stash. Get it? Because before you were only doing it figuratively, but now you'll be doing it literally! Well of course it's not funny if I have to explain it. Or that it really never was. DON'T ACT LIKE I DON'T KNOW. I know.

That is pretty cool!

I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They look like a bitch to haul no thank you.
Plus this Is just one step closer to a robo-couch.

You can literally hide porn in your couch!

I would have to say that it would be all that hard to make one yourself. You can easily cut open the back of an older sofa (it's normally just empty) and make a housing unit and instead of it only storing 14gigs....why not put a few terabytes in your seating. You can easily reupholster it with your favorite style of upholster cloth (found at any cloth store) and a staple gun.

so you have to plug your couch in?

C'mon! They should be able to fit 50 terabytes in that thing!

If I'm going to buy an ugly couch just because it's a usb... I expect at least 20 GB. At least. I couldn't even fit all my... err.... .avi ... files .. on 14GB. Just sayin

What?! Just now they get those to the public? I already got my brain-wash adapters on my guest room couches.

I get it GW get it.... nicely done

The cables would get in the way while i'm bang'in GW's gurlfriend!!!

What a neat idea! Someone market this to IKEA.

well...what a load of rubbish. 14gb is nothing these days. and their ugly!!! seriously, my grandad had better looking sofas.

USB 3 attempt FAIL & there's enough room for a few dozen 50TB drives in those sofas, mass storage FAIL

@14 USB 3!!! yayer

I just use a flash drive. then stuff it in my couch. kinda wish my couch has a usb
symbol on it. then again. nah. ground effects and food stains are enough.

Dug through my couch like a mad man, but could not find any porn!?!?! Aren't they supposed to be shipped with that kind of stuff installed from the manufacturer? Guess I'll have to send mine back.

I did stumble across my copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy though. It was securely snuggled inside one of the cushions with a little post-it note that read "Beware of leopard!".

PS. I'm not talking about the book by Douglas Adams (complete rubbish, and by that I mean TOTALLY accurate)....I'm talking about the actual GUIDE. Now if I could just find where I left my Sub-Etha Sens-O-Matic signaling device....I'd be SO outta here!!!! Till then, it's just me and my towel against the world baby! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

How um is this useful? I guess in case you wanted to play junior spy? Leave cryptological files on the drives? Personal Msgs? "Hey, baby, I saw you sitting here the other day, jacking in, so I thought I'd leave a very special README for you!" I guess I'm just not cool enough to see the point. Durh.

I think it's a great idea.

I think it's a great idea.

surely u could fit... mmm at least a few terrabytes in a couch

Its beautiful. People always attract by this type of sofas. Also it is necessary to enhance your home beauty.

I think the sofas shown here are not very attractive. But I am sure that they will be available at a cheap rate.
