Nov 27 2009Burj Dubai Loves Getting Struck By Lightning

Apparently the Burj Dubai (the world's tallest building) can't stop getting hit by lightning. Well what do you expect being a half a mile tall? That's like a 7-foot woman walking around and people not yelling, "that's a huge bitch!" Also, this may or may not be Allah's way of saying, "Dubai -- this shit's getting out of hand" (It 100% is).
Hit the jump for two more shots and a video of a lightning strike in action.

6. Varg Vikernes - November 27, 2009 4:58 PM
I hope they designed the building to be able to take that all the time, because if they did, that is awesome.

8. Ryannn - November 27, 2009 5:04 PM
That would be awesome if they had some kind of generator or something that could actually use all that electricity being put on the building. Would be very eco friendly.
9. DeadHead - November 27, 2009 5:31 PM
Anyone else see the object falling from the sky, to the right of the lightning, at 10 secs in? Totally some War of the Worlds shit goin' on!

I can't help but think that it might be a good idea to attach some batteries to that shit for renewable power. Or, at least a time machine - you know like one in the form factor or an interesting looking '80's car.

This is nothing more than some great photography. Many tall buildings get struck by lightning on a frequent basis without batting an eyelash. The Seattle space needle probably takes more on a rainy day than the burj in a year.
And ecofriendly and dubai is the ultimate oxymoron. If anything, the electricity collected is then used to air condition outdoor beaches and decapitate tiny bunnies.

Fuck Dubai...they brag about having this and having that and being the first place to have this and blah blah. Wonder why I just heard on the news yesterday they are asking for a 6 month halt on paying their debts.....the place writing checks that its ultra rich citizens, ultimately, arent gonna be able to cash.
