Oct 29 2009Uh-Oh: Another Little Running, Jumping Robot
ROPID is a little robot created by Robo Garage (burn it down with an oily rag!) whose name combines the words 'robot' and 'rapid'. Very clever. Or should I say vever? I'm gonna stick with very clever. Anyway, this is a video of ROPID showing off his moves at a press conference. He (sometimes) responds to voice commands and can run (which technically isn't running, just walking fast), dance and jump. Plus look kinda cute. There, I said it -- just because you hate something with all your heart doesn't mean you can't find it beautiful. Take Edward Cullen for example.

Thanks to partychancer, fabian, Xkrimeg, Richthegringo, Harsh and Mira, who aren't ashamed to admit they've thought about what it would be like to be with a robot romantically. Bad move, guys -- burn them at the stake!

In a few years it will be programmed to kill, a cute version of the terminator will be after you and your mum and you will have pure hatred for the Japenese... which may result in the Japanese and robots VS the rest of the world. HMMM I don't know who would win that one!

i liked it, looks like the robots took a ton of ecstasy. one day his eyes will turn red, with error, and murder kittens.
btw japan will have the first robots working fr them....... or slave

Well, my big question is why do we have to develop Robot technology, that brings us closer and closer to JUDGEMENT DAY, wether you believe it or not. I don't see the need to create a robot technology that may one-day run faster than man. I know what ur all thinking, too many movies, come on... what reasonable benefit to MAN will a Running Robot Bring? This does scare me allot... Are we getting ever closer to a day like in I, Robot, where a Super Computer descides that, HUMANS are the VIRUS of the PLANET....I hope I never see this day, for everyones sake....

I'm taking a leave of absence from geekologie folks. It won't be easy & some may die, but it's necessary to advance to the next level even though it's difficult to understand right now. So give this another two years worth of development in terms of mobility; give it the boston dynamics capability to run and not fall - the high speed robots ability to catch aim run shoot - give em heat/night/every type of vision - targeting and weapons - swords - parachutes and rockets and crank em out by the thousands and then what.

the tilted-head staring, the sudden red glow in the eyes, the crazy running.
looks like that robot will burn your house down and run away if you talk to it with an attitude.
