Oct 8 2009Glass And Brass: This Steampunk-y Table

This is a steampunk inspired side-table created by Tom Spina Designs (the same man responsible for the Han Solo frozen in carbonite desk). Prices start around $1000 and vary depending on size and design. I want one. Granted it may just be a bunch of painted PVC pipes and a couple gauges and glass baubles, but I could never make one. And that has nothing to do with the fact that I've been drinking all morning. Haha, now I see two tables. No -- three! Aaaaaand I'm puking in my mouth. I feel noodles. WHEN DID I EAT NOODLES?!?!
Product Site (with a couple other sweet products as well -- I'm looking at you, t-rex desk and skull throne)
Thanks to Tom, the man behind the brass curtain. Now send me one.

Not the best looking steampunky stuff out there imo, but not bad either
2. Closet Nerd - October 8, 2009 2:39 PM
This would be great for holding my bong while playing Super Mario Bros.
3. Ham Bone - October 8, 2009 2:41 PM
looks kinda like my cock pump
4. naas - October 8, 2009 2:42 PM
The pic makes it only look 10 inches tall. If that's a full size table it's a little blocky, but I bet they had a using it as a bong in mind when designing it
5. naas - October 8, 2009 2:42 PM
@2 absolutely
6. LSDiesel - October 8, 2009 2:49 PM
I agree with naas. It's not very steampunk at all. It actually looks more like a dead toilet's skeletal remains.
7. Cinema Obsessed - October 8, 2009 2:53 PM
This would only look good in a garage. Or a junkyard.
8. Timbo - October 8, 2009 3:03 PM
Notice he doesn't mention starwars or anything about the movies he's copying from....smart guy ...smart guy

What the he*ll is going on with the GW today? Why is Anna Nicole bouncing around on the homepage and posts moving around? Hack attack?...
10. Richard McBeef - October 8, 2009 3:16 PM
@6 - My toilet is made of mimetic liquid metal alloy.
11. naas - October 8, 2009 3:21 PM
@10 with a name like dick mcbeef I wouldn't think you would have anything different
12. Dirty-Shizno - October 8, 2009 3:24 PM
so are these the kinds of furniture items to be expected after the nuclear holocaust? because if so its going to be quite a bleak world to live in...even with all the mirelurks and deathclaws running around.
13. naas - October 8, 2009 3:30 PM
@12 what's ur address? i'll mail some pics that'll excite u about what we could do to each other if that actually happens
14. Dirty-Shizno - October 8, 2009 3:32 PM
its gaara_unleashed@yahoo.com

Normally I'm a huge fan of anything steampunk, but this just looks cheap.
16. naas - October 8, 2009 3:57 PM
@14 if that's a real email address, you're probably going to get shitspammed with the same garbage that a gay freshman gets off on regularly.
Since we're somewhat familiar with each other by context I feel compelled to tell you this. If 'naas' should appear to sound like a 14 yr old (what's ur address?) (i'll) (u) it's obviously everyone's favorite ballhero trying to bother me by impostering the name I use here
It doesn't bother me at all seeing the difference is so distinguishable - - but just FYI I never ask people for their email addresses here, I offer my own up if we need to talk off the boards

Ab-soo-LUTELY
There's other methods too now, isn't there.
@14 things aren't what they seem.

You know what a steampunk table looks like? An antique table. Even in a land where steam power and Victorianesque pseudotechnology has replaced modern electronics, tables would still just be tables. Nice, wooden, antique tables.
This is an awkward table made out of spare plumbing, and it would be equally awkward in a steampunk world.
19. LSDiesel - October 8, 2009 4:09 PM
@18, well put.
20. G - October 8, 2009 4:26 PM
Clearly, that's not pasta; it's roundworms.
21. naas - October 8, 2009 4:26 PM
@18 that's an accurate picture you've described, I also agree. Picturing that, this almost looks like it's trying to make fun of steampunk
22. Dirty-Shizno - October 8, 2009 4:26 PM
@16 its all good...lol thats my brothers e mail
23. naas - October 8, 2009 4:28 PM
@22 well let me know if he receives anything, I'd love to get the IP & DNS info from that email
24. ganmerlad - October 8, 2009 4:28 PM
Sorry to the guy who made the table, but for $1000 you are crazy. As shown, it is what I call a sculpture doodle rather than a piece of custom furniture. I do need a new coffee table though, and that has given me some ideas....
25. Dirty-Shizno - October 8, 2009 4:33 PM
@23 lol will do
26. Conspiracy - October 8, 2009 4:54 PM
YAY more Steampunk in a way kind of... @2 I am pretty sure you could just make it into a bong. @18 I thought the same thing. I mean i am crazy about Steampunk but i don't think that it means EVERYTHING has to look like it's steam powered. I mean WTF would a steam powered table do? It should just be a nice wood table with some gears and pipes engraved into it. And maybe some brass or copper highlights.

@ 26
Agreed. Although I don't follow "steampunk" all that closely I have noticed that the intention is to at least make it LOOK practical.

I love glass table tops. But $1,000 minimum? That seems a little high for something like this.

@MW Glass
Agreed. $1,000 is too expensive for this. But I do love the design.
