Oct 6 2009Dinosaurs Disrupt German Television Program
This is a scene from some German television program that gets raided by a bunch of dinosaurs. And let me tell you: when that raptor first came running out I thought it was CG. But it wasn't. And neither were my 30 boners! My God, I've never wanted to be part of a live studio audience so bad in my life.
Thanks to Martyn, Chuck and LewisRedd, who would have run on stage like it was The Price Is Right.

I'M STILL HERE LURKING!
2. Hawk - October 6, 2009 1:02 PM
I've seen these before. They are real, full size robotic dinos. Pretty damn cool!
3. beast - October 6, 2009 1:04 PM
Ugh not even a raptor that's a baby t-rex. geekologiewriter=dinonewb? Or todays posts are totally being ghostwritten.
4. Pirate - October 6, 2009 1:06 PM
Well, they can't be fully robotic. You can see the persons legs. You'd think they would've tried to blend in with the dino instead of wearing blue jeans.
5. Pat - October 6, 2009 1:07 PM
@4 I agree. They look like costumes. Still, they're probably the most detailed badass dino costumes in the world.
6. naas - October 6, 2009 1:11 PM
How is that not CG..... WHAT THE FUĈK DID I JUST WATCH!?!? that was awesome... but it can't be CGI because of the physical dynamics in the studio not can it be robotics because the dino 'flow' too easily in the real, physical world.
Someone please tell how this was done, that was absolutely brilliant
@4 how did I miss legs? watching again looking for human legs....
7. Dan Halen - October 6, 2009 1:11 PM
Very impressive to say the least. I want to be the little T-Rex for halloween so I can scare the living hell out of the neighbor kids. They have it coming.
8. naas - October 6, 2009 1:13 PM
ahh ok I see now, totally missed the running legs the 1st time around. Still awesome though - and I agree @4, why not put some scales on those jeans to blend it all together
9. naas - October 6, 2009 1:17 PM
...would it have been in bad taste if the triceratops coughed up hitlers bones during the standoff?
10. Daisy - October 6, 2009 1:18 PM
FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was walking and some sneakers fell on his head, later the police came by and arrested him and put him in a jail where he needed to dig holes.
11. Scruff Mcgruff - October 6, 2009 1:18 PM
maybe you should put some scales on those nuts of yours to blend in naas
12. Eric B - October 6, 2009 1:19 PM
I think they are from the "Walking with Dinosaurs"... they were in Ottawa last month and it was a great and spectacular show.
13. Ham Bone - October 6, 2009 1:21 PM
Dear germany,
I will pay you one million dollars for a ride on a triceratops.
Always Yours,

I want a raptor costume along the same lines as the Rex. *grabby hands* WANT!!
16. Eric B - October 6, 2009 1:22 PM
My observations when I saw this show last month is that the small raptor type dinos were costumes were the rest of them were animatronics.

18. Closet Nerd - October 6, 2009 1:24 PM
@4 & 8 I think they had the 'blue' pants on the guy so that they would kind of blend in with the smoke and effects. If they were green, they'd be a lot more noticable.
I want that baby dino costume for Halloween!!!!
Can you imagine running down the street in that scaring the shit out of little kids?!
19. Closet Nerd - October 6, 2009 1:25 PM
When the T-Rex was snuggling with the little dino at the end, I was wanting to see the big T-Rex NOM NOM the head of the baby T-Rex.
20. LSDiesel - October 6, 2009 1:33 PM
That was great, I mean really really great. I betcha audience members got chills. @19, I would have loved to see the T-Rex NOM NOM scruff mcgruff's head and the shit it out only to be stepped on by the triceratops. NOW THAT is what I call entertainment.

uncleanon is that you?
22. Amaranth - October 6, 2009 1:37 PM
Geekologie reader clearly doesn't know about dinos, that aint no Raptor for sure its a baby T, look at its feet no big claw...
23. naas - October 6, 2009 1:41 PM
@11shouldn't you be in schoo?
@18 I agree, they should've regulated the temperature of the room with the temperature of the smoke so it'd settle 2' above floor level - masking the human legs they intended to mask
24. Corb - October 6, 2009 1:42 PM
Thats not a raptor dude, its a baby Trex, FAIL dude FAIL
25. Closet Nerd - October 6, 2009 1:43 PM

That is NOT how a t-Rex sounds!!!!! Did Jurassic Park not air in Germany????
34. Mike Hawk - October 6, 2009 1:56 PM
sick to the power of rad, wonder if they couldve made the floor rigs out of acrylic, or some other clear polymer, detracted from the look..but Win nevertheless.
35. naas - October 6, 2009 1:56 PM
@31 every once in awhile on geekologie, a new commenter comes along & presents himself as a total unlikeable douchebag we've seen it all too many times. Enter one 'scruff mcgruff' to express himself here for a day or 2 & one has to wonder 'are there really that many semi-functional retards out there obsessed with testicles?' - - or is there just one who keeps changing his name once the last one has disappeared'? I just can't seem to figure it out
36. danihana - October 6, 2009 1:57 PM
I went to that show with a nice boy.
We are now married.

38. Ham Bone - October 6, 2009 2:22 PM
@14 scruff mcgruff i cannot tell you how much WE all hate you and your stupid comments ... if only your mother and i had you aborted those 11 years ago ... then the readers and commenters of geekologie could be done with you
39. Me - October 6, 2009 3:00 PM
thats gross dude, there's people in there, so... technically, hes getting a boner from the guys in the costumes. Hes gay and he doesnt even know it!
40. An - October 6, 2009 3:01 PM
Jeezus, get off seeing the guy's legs already. Human legs can't bend that way so suspend your disbelief for a bit. As a dinosaur costume that thing was totally awesome infinity cubed!
41. Ptentacle - October 6, 2009 3:01 PM
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet ( like I'm going to read through 38 comments ), but does GW realize these are ROBOT DINOSAURS? Partially anyhow. I present the topic, two things GW loves and hates COMBINED. Discuss.
42. Dirty-Shizno - October 6, 2009 3:31 PM
lol dinosaurs and annoying ass dogs... what more could a guy want.
43. freeyourmind00 - October 6, 2009 3:47 PM
forget about Halloween, I'd wear that baby t-rex costume all day every day. I would only take it off at night, so I could cuddle with it while I slept. Can I haz it?
44. Top Dollar - October 6, 2009 3:50 PM
@33: Yeah, because Jurassic Park was sooo scientifically faithful with its depiction of dinosaurs...
45. f4ngy - October 6, 2009 3:50 PM
:D Saw this live earlier this year, it was amazing. I want the raptor costume ,__.
The wheely bits underneath the robotic ones made it seem a lot less real though, I was disappointed about that but it was still reaaaally cool. Especially when the T-rex leaned over the audience and roared <333333
46. Germany - October 6, 2009 4:02 PM
Sehr geehrter Schinkenknochen,
bitte teilen Sie uns mit wann Sie gedenken anzureisen um ihren Ritt auf dem Triceratops zu erhalten.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

47. Closet Nerd - October 6, 2009 4:17 PM
@44
Can you prove that it WASN'T accurate?
No? Ok. Didn't think so.
48. Stuey - October 6, 2009 4:20 PM
Yeah I saw these live last year and if you can not look at the sleds underneath you can imagine what they were like. Definitely a good show to go see if it is in your area. Kids love the shit out of it.
49. rad to the power of me - October 6, 2009 4:24 PM
My freaking devil that was sweet. Krouts have made a big step from the Hoff!
It's like the best cirque du soleil i've ever seen!....someone pass the acid!
50. Adam - October 6, 2009 4:42 PM
Torosaurus guys, not triceratops...
51. Top Dollar - October 6, 2009 5:08 PM
@47: No, but *I* never said I could. And to cite Jurassic Park as a reference for paleontology is as believable as considering the Indiana Jones movies an authentic depiction of archeology.
52. ASenseOfRevenge - October 6, 2009 5:25 PM
@33 - You sir are a moron. No one knows what a T-Rex sounds like. It was more than likely wrong in the movie as well.
53. Beastman AIDS - October 6, 2009 5:52 PM
I'm not even going to mention how long it took me to realise it wasnt CGI - not as long as naas evidently, so I guess I'm not the biggest mouth breather here.
P.S When did everyone start getting such raging boners for the Daisy posts?
54. Sam - October 6, 2009 6:25 PM
I totally saw the walking with the Dinosaurs when it came through Denver!!!! it was seriously bad ass. My life seemed lame ass for about a month after.
55. Mask - October 6, 2009 6:52 PM
i am from germany. and they aired in that show because there is currently a live show with dinosours touring through germany. one ticket is from 40 up to 60 euros. i am poor student. i doubt i can effort that much money. i think i will keep on working on my time machine
56. Aru-San - October 6, 2009 6:59 PM

WOW. That was beyond Amazing. I also thought it was CGI at first. Then I realized that they were puppets. WOW.
59. Ezzimo - October 6, 2009 9:30 PM
I was so bummed that while watching I realized that it was obviously a Baby T-Rex. Poor Geekologie Writer and his excitement boners.
Regardless, well worth getting excited over!!
i wonder if this show will come to Australia
dino hugs

60. meg - October 6, 2009 10:00 PM

61. Kristi - October 6, 2009 11:43 PM
I believe they are from the BBC's "Walking With Dinosaurs" arena tour based off their award-winning mini-series. I bought tickets for my Mom to see the touring show earlier this year, she said it was unbelievably amazing.

62. Jerome - October 7, 2009 3:45 AM
I'm sorry to tell you, but... they're robots.... I bet they need human blood to survive!
63. That uncle who did that bad thing we don't speak about - October 7, 2009 4:57 AM
That was AMAZING! There's a full size animated T-Rex in the Natural History Museum here in London but it doesn't walk, just moves its head about and grunts a bit. These things totally beat that!
All they need to do now is use some After Effects to get rid of the dude's legs and the big platforms, and this is perfect.
64. MaliciousLingerer - October 7, 2009 5:49 AM
I just saw this! I am in Vienna, and this show came through the city on its tour... I literally ran down a street to take a picture of one of the robots riding on the back of a truck, i think i'll forward it to geekologie now...
65. Gonzo - October 7, 2009 6:08 AM

66. Jiggens - October 7, 2009 10:55 AM
Didn't anyone else notice Dr Breen in the audience?
67. Jetkitten - October 7, 2009 11:43 AM
I saw this when it came to Buffalo.... walking with dinosaurs or something along those lines, AMAZING to see in person.
68. Jaded Icon - October 7, 2009 3:30 PM
I am really, really digging this show. Well played sir! The actors moving the dinos are pretty good at mimicking animal movement. I wonder if they have a "behind the scenes" where you can find out how much those things cost to make?
69. cam - October 8, 2009 9:58 AM
Holy crap! Where do i buy a raptor suit like that one?
70. azzy - October 10, 2009 8:44 AM

I think they had the 'blue' pants on the guy so that they would kind of blend in with the smoke and effects.

74. BubbaKapone - October 14, 2009 5:21 AM
Dear Germany,
get your shit together first off: We are way over dinosaurs....like 2 Jurassic Parks ago. Second: Are you tryin to insinuate that if i were a little German boy in prehistoric times, that i would be happy to see two carnivores scaring away a big ass herbivore (my only chance of living)? i wouldnt bet my strudel on it. and thirdly: T-Rex......Velociraptor, two different species. You dont see me runnin around, hugging a dog, callin it my father.
Then again, maybe thats how you Jerrys do things out there.
I guesse you guys still havent bounced back from WWII, ill give you a minute.
Get back to me
Bubba

If robots are Bad and dinosaurs are Good, what are robot dinosaurs?
