Sep 8 2009Woops: Cops Called For Halo Sniper Rifle

Apparently the cops were called to Bungie Studios (the makers of Halo) after a pedestrian spotted a person carrying what they believed to be an AK-47. Way to know your guns, moron.
A report of a person with an assault weapon walking near Bungie Studios sent a team of police swarming to the Kirkland, Washington studio yesterday afternoon.
Kirkland police, contacted today for more details, said a passerby on their way to the local farmer's market called 911 saying that they thought they saw someone walking down the street with an AK-47 about 4:20 p.m.The person who had thought they'd seen a gunman in the neighborhood had actually seen a Bungie employee carrying a replica Halo rifle back to the studio's offices, Bungie community director Brian Jarrard told me. Recognizing there was no longer an emergency, officers advised Bungie officials to transport the gun more discretely in the future.
That's great. Although, to the police tipster's credit, I would have totally called the po-po too if I saw somebody like that guy in the picture toting a rifle. And by 'called the po-po' I mean WHIPPED HIS MONKEY ASS. Just saying, I don't practice take-downs on my little sister for nothing. Isn't that right, Jessica? Oh shit -- oh shit -- CHOKE-SLAM!

This isn't Uganda. Although we reserve the right to bear arms we don't carry AK-47s down the street firing them in the air........although, that would be pretty bad*ss.....
29. gypsy - September 8, 2009 3:21 PM
does anyone else think he looks like the guy from waterboy?
30. Andrew - September 8, 2009 3:46 PM
some people are retarded
31. Leonidas - September 8, 2009 4:03 PM
So they want them to transport it more "discretely," as in "in a bunch of separate pieces," as opposed to "discreetly," as in "less fǜcking obvious." Another tell-tale sign that this report was written by someone in Bungie's programming department.
NOW, WHERE THE HELL IS GFS AND THUMPER?!
32. therealRoboticDeathArmy - September 8, 2009 4:27 PM
@31 GFS is too damn stupid to use a proxy to get around his company's firewall. As for Thumper, he got tore up last night off of too much cup-o-man juice.
33. Daisy - September 8, 2009 6:07 PM
FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie NEver BAck Down where MAx and his partner were providing sniper support for some troops in Africa. There were manyu more opposition troops than expected, and after MAx got the people on his side away safely, he and his spotter were cut off. After the spotter was killed Max lost respect for the government.

I've been reduced to a lurker. There is no proxy to get around shit at work. They block all proxy sites. By all, I mean they even block Google's cache pages. Bing's too.
@32
You haven't died yet? Have you at least started trying to make witty posts?

I used to grow an ak47/northern lights hybrid. And I lived Washington, weird...
@19 Tell that to the relatives and survivors of columbine, virginia tech and springfield, not to mention all the other victims of workplace violence.

@ 34
First you need permits to own guns. If you have a felony then you can't. If you want to carry your guns discreetly (in your brief case, on your person, sometimes even your car) you would also need an additional permit. Although, each state has their own laws about carrying guns, so it may vary. I have the right to buy them as long as I am responsible enough to get training and permits so I don't accidentally blow my own head off or someone elses.
So long story short, we can own them, carry them and use them as long as it is in a responsible manner.
39. wtf - September 9, 2009 10:14 AM
@37 -- If the people at VA tech would have not had their rights unlawfully stripped from them, an individual may have been able to stop the gunman in self defense. Or even better the gunman would not have acted act all due to the fact that he would have been unaware who was carrying a gun for self defense. But in this case he knew that NO ONE was going to be able to stop him since guns are banned on campus.
@40 -- You do NOT need a permit to own a gun, unless your locality has passed an unconstitutional law that has not yet been challenged in a court of law.
Most states require you to apply for a permit that they cannot deny unless you have a criminal background to carry concealed. Many states still allow open carry which is a right given in the bill of rights.

42. Jaded Icon - September 10, 2009 7:18 AM
@ 41
Let me revisit that statement. Each STATE has its own mandate when it comes to gun control. Which is why it is easier to buy, sell, and own guns depending on what state you live in. States such as California, Illinois and Minnesota (where I live), require a permit to purchase a gun. As I have stated earlier. So, I myself am a little confused when you call me out for being wrong and then repeat almost exactly what I have already said.

Kinda makes you wonder if anybody at Bungie has even SEEN a real sniper rifle. They should go back to that Marathon-style alien whiz-bang sh!t and stop designing weapons so totally impractical that not even fictional characters would agree to use them.
