Sep 8 2009Mmmm, Blocky: Rolling LEGO Cookie Cutter

lego-cookie-cutter.jpg

Want to make LEGO shaped cookies? Well you're in luck thanks to this $10 rolling cookie cutter directly from LEGO! Oh, hold the phone -- I just read a review.

I am a very capable and experienced sugar cookie designer. If the dough is not the perfect thickness--not too thick, not too thin, it will stick on the wheel. I very carefully and tediously cut out about 50 of this itty, bitty (1" x 1") bricks on my cookie sheet. I chilled the dough for 1/2 an hour in the refrigerator to help keep the shape during baking. However, they didn't hold their shape during baking because they are so small. They came out of the oven in an unrecognizable shape.

Well, I guess that's out. That's okay though because I bet it still works for Play-Doh. And Play-Doh, as we all know, is delicious. It tastes like gummy-salt! Uh-oh -- another review!

I am so disappointed. We bought the cookie cutter for school bday party and the cake mold for family party. The cookie cutter is cracked on one brick. Used it anyway. The dough sticks to the cutter and is nearly impossible to get it off without ruining the shape. Tried freezing the dough to make it harder. Cuts better but... My son cried after they baked. They look like plain old cookies. The lego shape completely disappears.

BWAHAHAHAHA -- your son cried after they baked! Did you check to make sure his training bra wasn't on too tight? Because that shit can cause serious discomfort. I mean, I'VE HEARD (I wear my roommates bra while she's at work).

GW, your starngely awesome posts today still haven't made me forget that you owe us some balls...*cough cough* magnetic ones, that is

@2 did you not read the post?...it doesn't work! It's junk! Crap! A waste of time, space and money!

I want LEGO pie....cherry

So instead of 9 or 10 Lego-shaped squares on the roller...why not just sell a package of 5 rollers with a different puzzle piece per square, and bake yourself up a batch of jigsaw puzzle cookies? A 50 piece puzzle of chocolate-chipped goodness (or frosted up sugar cookies to colorize the whole thing if you'd like). Hmmm...$10 for something that doesn't even work, or $50 for a bag of cutters that know how to bring the fun to cookie binges?

Me? I'll stick to the old-fashioned way of making cookie jigsaw puzzles...one bite at a time (the shapes they really need to fit into are the top of my milk glass and the pie hole just below my goodie sniffer).

where are you geekologie writer? if i update and see the lego cutter again i'll lego your arse!!

Well let me point out some problems the first statement (in the article) He says he's so experienced then he would have realized that after the cookies are cooked the yeast expands which would make it into a weird shape as it did. But obviously you have to use a recipe that doesn't use yeast such as in many sugar cookie recipes.

what about the contest, these last 4 days have been driving me craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

GW your the one!
You make reading lots of fun!

Come'on GW! Your not posting fast enough for me, POST POST PSOT!!!

DOOO WANT!!!

I can play these along with those candy lego bricks...mwahahaha I should be able to complete my devious plan of a food-lego-house

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie NEver BAck Down where MAx had a fat girl trapped in a hole in his basement. He was starving her to make her skin loose enough to skin easily, as the dress he was sewing was almost done.

you're a photoshop job Daisy :P

@14 dude calm down it was just true post. Yeast would make a cookie rise. Chill have fun with life.

@14
actually 11 was right. me and my friends had to go through many recipes to find ones even without yeast that wouldn't rise so we could make our heart and star shaped cookies.

The first indication that this kid is a future Ryan Seacrest was that he was crying about how the cookies came out. The second indication was that he was baking cookies with his mom.

i have a cookie cutter that is shaped like megan fox nude, but that didn't work either. sigh.....

Interestingly enough, I just saw this in the Lego Store two days ago and thought about buying this for my sister, but then I thought it probably wouldn't work well... Let's hope the Ice brick tray I got instead works better.

I got one of these, and had pretty good results with it! In case anyone is wondering what the finished cookies look like.

Oops, where'd my link go... here: http://imastreetcop.blogspot.com/2009/09/lego-cookies.html

Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed your most recent post. I think you should post more often, you obviously have natural ability for blogging!

i think this would work really well with a short bread recipe... short bread cookies don't rise at all.

Where to start? I love you! Your blogs are funny, bold and strike a punch. Ha ha ha! ON TO THE REST!

Funny funny funny! And true!
