I think this essentially ruins the mystery and epic vibe of the whole Halo series. Anime just ruins everything. However, ODST is pretty ballin.

Looks good tbh, tho it kinda feels a bit babyish. And if ya gonna watch it, then im guessing you already played all the games.

Just a Halo version of Gotham Knight. They aren't even trying to be original with the format.

The opening music is nearly straight from the first game's sound track.. sounded like there were a couple of extra bells and clicks in there, but that may have been sound effects or I may just be crazy. I loved the original HALO soundtrack (haven't listened to anything other than the first, dunno if the rest are any good) - funny that it was basically a 3-day rush job and yet it turned out great. So I wonder what they're going to do for the anime series.. is it too going to have fantastic music?

Honestly? This looks like crap, the graphics alone in this day age are horrible, and I've heard better dialog in porn movies. I suppose those they might as well make and keep the money train rolling, after all there are plenty of idiots who will buy the same game again every year or so and claim there's some great improvement, and I don't mean just halo 2, halo 3, and halo 3 odst, these same idiots likely buy call of duty and madden every time they're released. Long live America the land of the ignorant masses too stupid to think for themselves, I'm looking at you 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. Flame away, because the truth hurts, and I expect at least one play on that line but at least try to be creative. Good day to you.

Unlike number 8, who requires top of the line EVERYTHING to be remotely entertained. Number 8, you live a sad life.

For the record, I don't even have an Xbox anymore (ex got it in the divorce), I was never any good at HALO (but I enjoyed playing on the rare occasion), I have never seen (let alone played) any of the sequels, and I don't watch TV, let alone anime, let alone series as juvenile as this one looks like it's going to be. I just mentioned that the first game had a great soundtrack, and I wondered if they were going to write more music for the anime. (Because I do still own the HALO sound track, and have nothing against buying music from movies or shows I have no intent to watch.)

This looks outstanding. Art work has a nostalgic anime feel mixed with the CG. Like Macross Plus. It is nice to finally see this style being brought to US developed character favorites like Halo and Marvel Comics.

I am not sure why #8 has his panties in a bunch though. I liked the follow up story lines for the Halo series games, even if the game action was only minimally altered.

If anything is played out and tired, its people on anonymous message boards blathering on about how the rest of the country are sheep and that they are the only one who gets it.

Halo sucks. Guy with shiney helmet = billions of dollars in video game and merchandise sales. The average xbox user is obviously borderline retarded. Shit game, shit story line and did I mention its a shit game?

It looks like the action is gonna be top notch, but I can't really get a feel for anything else from the preview. The animation looks ok, and the voice acting was meh at best. THe story is what I'm worried about, I Think that they're just gonna rely on the name to carry them all the way through

It's about as much of a waste as ODST itself, which is a 4 hour gameplay expansion cash grab with the original Halo 3 multiplayer on the other disc for full price. All you "hardcore" MS fans are just saying "thank you sir, may I have another".

I like anime a lot, but I don't like movies or series to be made after video games, they're always terrible.

No, #18's right for the most part. Most things in Halo is ripped off from other stories, movies and shows. Even many of the gun designs are just actual gun designs with slight changes (but 500 years in the future??) The Mjolnir Mk. 5 Helmet is taken straight from an early 90's design for the Future Soldier/Land Warrior systems. The rest is pretty much Colonial Marines. Sgt. Johnson is just Apone. You can't hide or excuse that.

Halo 1 was excusable because of its novelty, it wasn't trying to be seriously legitimate. It was like a disney ride. Then Bungie ignored alot of the design and some originals they had established for Halo 2.

And then Bungie had a "disaster" during Halo 2 dev. forcing them to churn it out, or MS told them they wanted a 3rd game as a flagship for XB360. Either way, they were trying to make you care about a story and characters where there was really no groundwork laid to make anyone care.

I feel like Halo 1 was a fluke, but the multiplayer was still really fun to play with friends.

Doesn't look like anything special, but then again I don't think the game is anything special. Spartans? They should just call the Doom Rip-offs with sleeves.

Btw I've been reading Geekologie religiously for the past few months, I'll be sure to become more active in the comments, and will likely write about more of this crap that interests me too :P

Two things:

1 - Halo takes itself way too seriously. Because of that, it sucks and this anime will suck even more. It's a fun game, yes, but the story is pathetic, the characters are boring and the fact that Halo 3 is ALWAYS playing epic music in the background is just laughable.

2 - When the hell did Master Chief become a ninja?

@35 - Since Master Chief weighs around half a ton, I really doubt he can move that fast. It just seems like a stupid way jack up the action. At least they realized watching cartoons shoot and frag each other would be pretty boring.

Retarded. This looks like Pokemon with guns. Only Pokemon had better art and more interesting stories. The main guy they show even looks/sounds like a kid.
But, I'm biased, because I've thought Halo sucks ever since it came out on XBOX instead of PC first, and by the time it was released it really had nothing on PC FPS's. I played Halo 3 for the first time yesterday, and was even less impressed. Still looks like the same generic FPS with the same graphics. Multi-player was fun for awhile, but there's really not much to it and it's pretty mindless.
Marketing has to be 90% or more of why everyone thinks Halo is the holy mecca of video games...

8... I just want to point out Final Fantasy here. Or the Dynasty Warriors series. At least American games actually improve the graphics engine and add to the story.

UGH, that was painful to watch, especially the stupid punk kid with the attitude. Halo fans would probably enjoy watching Master Chief killing aliens, but ... man that fight scene with Chewbacca was lame. The animation has a decent frame rate at least, except when people are talking (and the lip synch is better than in all of the Halo games, even in Japanese!) Overall, it looks like a well-budgeted anime with crappy writing and choreography. (Unless it was just badly translated.)

And STILL hardly anyone knows they ripped Halo off from Larry Niven's Ringworld!

They showed the second one at comic con!

I like how the Covenant Brute near the start was using a flaming stick as a light source. It's not like they have access to the most advanced technology in the Halo universe or anything.

Whoever said this is the end of Halo has got it bang on.

Why do people rate anime so highly? It's frame rate is almost as atrocious as it's terrible faces and obvious lack of detail. And that's before you even tackle the wince-inducing dialogue and pauses between lines you could park a bus in!

The big selling point of Halo the game was its beautiful graphics, sublime animation and engaging storyline. This has none of these things. It looks pitifully generic and offers nothing to develop the Halo universe.

It's not as big a coffin-nail as Clone Wars, but it's pretty damn close!

They'd have been better off hiring Red Vs Blue to make it for them!!!

i dont get it..everyone bases Halo...obviously its done f*cking well if it has attained millions of dollars in merchandising. On what premise can you say that this game sucks?!?! Actually all of the spartans were that fast because they juiced up these humans. Also it said in the books they were extremely fast and as for hand to hand combat....john (master chief) kiilled 4 ODSTs as a 12 year old child. Halo sucks....#30 said it PERFECTLY. Its just a game thats ripped off a bunch of other games that do it so much better. And as for the first scene in the first video...WTF!? That looks JUST like the Sulaco from Aliens.

meh looks interesting.. i'm a fan of both anime and halo, and to be honest i'm disappointed. the sweet part about halo is the beauty of it and you cant capture that in this style of anime. IMO they should have just made a movie FF7 Advent Children style.. that would have done the franchise justice.

#2 says and I quote "meh second, looks cool" and #3 says "Looks great =D" and you instantly recognize them as avid fans that will buy anything that has the number 2 or above on it. Are you serious? You think that because someone says "looks cool" that they are an avid fanboy that has no trouble spending 120 bucks a week buying every sequel that hits the shelves? Seriously? Maybe he is someone who likes anime, someone who likes action. I mean, I watched that and saw that it was kind of cheezy in the beginning, but the action scenes were amazing. And if what I have read about the stories of the other episodes is true, then this is going to prove itself to be one kick ass series. "Good day to you" douche bag.

I've seen a rough cut of the first episode. I enjoyed watching it, but it didnt blow me away or anything. I'm not really an anime fan and it felt very generic anime-ish to me (spiky hair, saying stuff thats irrelevant, silly action). Some of the other episodes do look promising though. The first 4 episodes are coming out or free on the Halo Waypoint XBL thingy, so you might want to check those out before you commit to it, or decide to hate it.

But then if you're a Halo fanboy, you will probably check it out, and if not you wont.
