Sep 24 2009But It'll Scare All My Garden Gnomes Away!: Super Mario Piranha Plant Lawn Ornament

DeviantARTist Kalupsa went and made an incredibly detailed (and frightening) Super Mario Piranha Plant lawn ornament out of modeling clay. And I think we can all agree, it's scary as shit. I sure as hell wouldn't water it, if you know what I mean. I'm talking about try to piss on it. NOT a good idea.
Hit the jump for a couple more shots and a video of how it was made.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was sitting in a van observing a garden, and when the cops were called he was eventually arrested.
39. ted - September 24, 2009 10:36 PM
that's pretty sweet. Too bad (for me) it's homemade. I'd totally pay money for this thing. It would totally have to go in the backyard or be big enough so the jackasses can't steal it. totally sweet.

I wish they would sell this sculpture for real! I'd buy one for my office!!!
45. NES--still-the-best - September 25, 2009 2:16 PM
I'd get that Piranha Plant indoors sometime soon if I were the creator. Not only due to the risk of some idiot stealing/defacing it, but anything that's red tends to sun fade in little time. Sunlight might screw that sculpture up.

Now, if only the original artist could say, make a few in teracotta...you'd need some kind of matte glaze for most of it, but you could use a gloss on the fangs/inside of the mouth.
Acrylic cast would be my next suggestion, then you don't have to worry about weathering, shipping damage, etc. Also it's about 10x lighter than clay, even if aforementioned is hollow, and probably a shitload cheaper.
