Aug 3 2009Toyota Develops Running Humanoid Robot

Nice one, Toyota -- a running humanoid robot. Because that's just what we need. Please God tell me that's actually a person in a robot costume.

[The video] from Toyota demonstrates the running capabilities of the new humanoid robot. The robot takes a step every 340ms and has no contact with the ground for 100ms of that. Notice in the video how the robot remains balanced even after pushed by the human

Did you read that? Did that not sound like it was written by a robot? "...pushed by the human"? So eloquent. You know, robots DO make the best writers. BEEP BOOP BOP. Oh that? Nothing.

Toyota's running humanoid robot [make]

Thanks to Mih0, Matt and Pew Pew Jenkins, who can all run faster than the Gingerbread Man and are gonna need to when these things hit full production.

Huh....he pushed him......Well, now I know who that robot is going after first.

@4 No, but your mom can give a great one

pushing has no effect on it ... that is my only move! ... we are doomed

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max went to the flesh fair and listened to some ministry and watched some robots get wrecked.

sorry, i have to go, i think I just crapped my pants...

haha I find it funny how he starts moving his feet up and down before he runs.
*flips head dramatic gopher style*
however robots are no laughing matter.

great, someone in my office has got the swine flu and now the whole building might be at risk.... i guess if I have to go, bacon flu would be okay with me...

Did nobody notice what i did???

"and has no contact with the ground for 100ms "

...100ms turns into 10ms, and eventually 1 full second, then before we know it, BAM!, hovercraft overlords

its legs look just like raptor legs when they attack!

Its already got the footwork down: all they need to do is teach it to punch, and we can have a real life version of those red and blue boxing robots!

he got some air

In Soviet Russia, robot runs you!

sadly, i think this robot runs faster than i do. so screwed.

my computer is broke I can't watch the video, I just need to know one thing...

Can it climb stairs?

At least we can hear it coming. If it gets a stealth mode, we are so f***ed.

So now are we going to have them battle against the Honda robot too?! sweet! Automakers ultimate robot battle challenge... I'll bet if Ford makes one it gets worse battery life and stops working half-way through the battle lolz

So all we need to take this robot down is a high tensile steel Bolas... sweet :D

we are all living in the matrix

This is the stuff nightmares are made of. Only a matter of time until they carrying human sized nets, chasing us through the streets of tomorrow.

I didn't expect our robot overlords to run like Perez Hilton with a full colostomy bag. Asmiov forgot to mention:

A robot must mince like a screamer as long as such mincing does not conflict with dyeing his positronic brain pink and twittering inanity

First they kicked the robot dog, not they shove the running robot - it's no wonder the robots want to kill us all. They will claim we started it.

After the Japs took Sony's Qiro for military purposes and demanded they no longer produce them this thing is hella lame. But that was the point.

I did Tai Chi

AHHHH!

Kill it with fire!

D:

@21 Damn you! I was going to say "Asimo vs (whachamacallhim?)" or "ultimate humanoid robot smackdown" but you kinda did.

Strap a bomb to it!

Must See!!
