Aug 19 2009Screw Mother Nature: HP Shipping Fail

hp-shipping-1.jpg

Not to be outdone by Dell's L337 shipping practices, HP decided to ramp up their efforts to show that THEY hate this planet even more. What's in the box? Hit the jump to find out. And no, it's not a tiger. But good guess.

Hit it. DO IT NOW!

HP's Ridiculous Shipment Packaging [notebookreview]

Thanks Russell, one time my grandfather sent a coconut in the mail. Literally, a coconut. No box or nothin'.

I NEED ONE CABLE PLEASE.

Muppets!

hp still rules

I don't care if I'm first, I just hope none of you retards are

Oooooo
Someone at the packaging department is a rebel!

Moo

No, I get it...

I hate the environment too!!!

Good stuff!

http://fade-to-win.mybrute.com/

Probably just some smartass in the shipping department got bored.

Think of the environment people!!!!!! GREEN AMERICA! this should be the biggest outrage of 2009 im going to make it a point to make a BIG deal of this!!!!!!!! >:O

My parents used to do this with my Christmas presents!

I'd start off thinking I got a go-kart, but it'd always end up being socks. Then I'd say "f*** Jesus" and run up to my room. It went on like this for YEARS.

LOL Soooo true... package might be more expensive than the cable itself

i worked for a major frieght company for about two years and on just the inbound dock alone they had over a million dollars worth of claims for the year of 2006. this is the reason for sh!t like this.. if they didnt do that.. that part would never arrive.. i remember throwing dells around a trailer because we were behind schedule.. thats what insurance is for i guess

Why not just use UPS???

That's the beauty of logistics, having to consider all the packaging regulations, destination, once packed... how will they be palletized and put in the truck/airplane/boat... then thanks once again to mother nature (counting humans as well lol) not having it on time and afterwards filling claims due delays, shortages etc... And thanks to that I got a job at HP for over 4 years :D

looks like Coffe Addict shipped that cable then.....

@16 ... sure thing :P

although knowing Coffe Addict... bigger is better, that packaging is too small for that cable.....

Mmm you might be saying that for the amount of shoes I owe.... Totally agree... never is enough... and since BAMS isn´t as demanding as shipping cables... I guess I should start thinking on those new hills I saw yesterday wanting to be owned :)

Pffft typical. I'm sure someone somewhere was probably doing this systematically, you know - following the rules or doing what they were told

Wow, i didnt realize you owed all those shoes, i guess i can chip in with a couple of bucks to get you outa the deep end of the debt pool.....

LOL! That is the best thing I have ever seen. No, literally. I have never seen anything better than that in my 20 years on this earth. I live a pretty exciting life.

@ 21- That's why I love you so much :) I need just about 20 future paychecks :P

@22 You gotta go out more dude!

I am a packing supervisor at a smallish company and have seen stuff like this many times. What we have here is a bulk pack part that was the last in the box. Someone in inventory put the info on the outside of the box to "save time later" rather then just through out the frigging thing out. Some poor guy got the picklist and pulled the box thinking the box was the whole part. Sure the schmuck didn't read the description, then maybe he would have thought about it and looked inside or heard it flop around a little. I just wonder who paid for the freight. I bet it wasn't cheap this way either way.

I worked in shipping for four years. Unless the HP shipping people have downs syndrome and are under the are of 5, this is what white people with jobs call "a joke".

This is pretty typical of corporate shipping practices. It appears that this is a Euro plug, which shows that even those on the other side aren't immune to this foolishness. I love how there was no filler in the box, so the little box was all bouncing around inside probably making a ruckus.

However if you consider that only you - or us as it were - are smart enough to see the dramatic irony in the size difference; and if we are at the same time able to suppose that nobody involved was able to, this becomes funny for a different reason though funny isn't the word. It becomes a guffaw at our superiority.

@27

Here here!
We will smash the smaller of them and feed the rest to our dogs, well that ones that killed that couple in Georgia.

And you'll have a great time in logistics... you can see all sort of stuff... what about the girl who DHL'd herself in order to get out of CUBA I beleive...

dun dun duuuunnnnn....the ultimate cord!

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

this is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max accidentally crossed a diamond with a pearl, and turned it on the world. In the hills the stuff was laced with Kerosene, but his was kitchen clean.

Guffaw, Guffaw!

at least there is bubble wrap

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is just like the time i posted and it turned out i was a huge dipshit 13 year old with with a gigantic fist up my "FAKE!" posting little @ss.

Thank god, the cable made the journey safely.

@53 you actually took the time to write that out in an attempt to get people to laugh (oh aha ha ha el oh el) at a stupid attempt of dissing/impersonating/whatever Daisy because you're sick of seeing the 'fake' posts? you're pathetic, next time just walk away (or roll your eyes & click next) you spineless poser

#55

Don't be so upset Daisy - only three of the 12 signs in the chinese zodiac give a crap to read the same joke every day. The rest of us have various reasons to not read your standard.

It's rabbit, pig and ram in case you're wondering.

@42 AMEN TO THAT, MY BROTHER. AMEN TO THAT !!!

@53 hey no picking at Daisy! there are three constants in this world: death, taxes and Daisy.

Who the hell cares? This person got the cord they needed, a sweet box that the kids can make a fort with and a pallet to put stuff on in the basement or garage. Awesome. Thanks, HP!

You have to wonder what the person that packed this was on.

freaking woooooow

i bet there was hopes and dreams in that box

http://theoverrated.com/

I had the same thing from some business on amazon, I ordered some mechanical pencils and lead and they sent it in a fairly large box, companies are weird like that. This is very plausible.

Oh my god that is amazing,

I once ordered 18 grammes of electronics to be shipped from New York to Dublin.

Cost?

For 18 grammes?

$45.70

The only thing I would change is putting it in a couple more boxes.....bigger boxes. I wanna see that thing showing up in a refrigerator shipping box!

BTW:

@ GFS - Just do what I do. Become the boss of your office and make your own damn rules. You could be a benevolent boss. Geekologie for ALL!!

wish HP took that much care when they shipped shit to us.

we only get the box the cable is actually in.

these photos are obvious lies

UPDATE NAO !

I would pack a midget in that box to pop out and hand you the cord after it's shipped...

68 - Now THAT would kick ass. Midget ass.

GW - If you don't post soon I may get bored enough to actually do my job...

As a regular ebay seller, I'd love that free packaging!

WTF GW, it keeps saying I'm using a bad work. well i'm about to start facking cursing up a storm here...

bad work = bad word = me needing coffee

More info on andreas@gigacaststatic.com or at website forum phpbb http://www.gigacaststatic.com

@74
ENGLISH MOTHERFACKER DO YOU SPEAK IT?

Wow, GW, this is getting critical, tempers are rising, I actually had to start doing some work out of sheer boredom, FAH-Q is falling over the same abyss, what did we do to offend you so? give us posts, give us entertainment, send away the boredom!

speaking of english...

@64 who really knows how much 18 grammes weigh??

1 hint... not this guy.

@56 I'm not upset, I'm not Daisy & nobody cares about your idiot zodiac logic or which 3 are mundane

@naas, That video made me smile out loud. Thank you for that. Although, I'm not sure if it was the footage or the music that got me.

Why do I bother :(

@Gargamel I'm not sure what grabbed me either after seeing it for the 1st time, but you're welcome - I knew somehow that would bring you some cheer

I want to f**k daisy in her sweet tight a**hole

This is a terrible waste of time and materials what with all the whales, warm dolphins, starving... POLICE BRUTALITY!

Ahh who'm I kidding? I just can't give a crap anymore.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!

@31

That reminds me of the episode of Malcom in the Middle where Reese put himself in a wooden crate and told Dewey to ship him to China but he didn't really do it so he just brought him back to their garage and then he rocked the crate all the time and then Jessica's bf happened to be Chinese and strong so Dewey pretended he couldn't open the crate and needed someone strong to open it so when the Chinese guy opened it Reese saw him and wanted to beat him up because in his class everyone got pen-pals and Reese was stupid and hated his Chinese pen-pal because he didn't get his nunchucks signed or anything. So when he opened the crate the Chinese guy was alot stronger than him because Reese's back hurt from the crate and he got his @$$ kicked. Did you notice I only used a period twice? Period like this: [.] not like a girls period. Well bai!

@10

First off, work on your grammar. Secondly, More than 2 exclamation marks is not only unnecessary, it makes you look like a retard.

Third, screw the environment. You and your green bs can suck me off.

@ 1 - 85 FLAME ON

p.s i see dead people

Dude. I hate when companies ship like this. They call up yelling because they got charged based on a huge box (dimensional weight) vs what should have been a small box. Its a friggin nightmare. Sadly it happens HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of times a day.

Thats nothin a friend of mine ordered osx leopard and he got 20 of them and apple would not admit their mistake so he kept them and sold them

they made it so you cant just stick it in the mailbox!!

Must See!

Hey everybody! It's fun to be me.

They ordered a cable.
And a large box.

I work for HP. They have been trying their best to cut down on waste. I guess the UK division didn't get the memo! I sent HR the link. Hopefully someone will investigate.

@24 *hug*

someone should sue companies that behave like that, and someone else should close them and build a huge strip bar in every building they used to own.

Well, it's not quite the same thing, but last week Apple FedExed me a package all the way from China. Inside was a single blank sheet of paper. :-/

Holy crap..i couldve mailed over a bride in that thing

I bookmarked this site, Thank you for good job! Thank you! I would now go on this blog every day!

Not surprised. This is par for the course for most computer retailers. Kind of reminds me of those russian dolls.

F**kheads.

I could say more, but I wont rant!
