Aug 9 2009Kid Plays Guitar Hero, Solves 2 Rubik's Cubes

This is a video of a kid playing Guitar Hero on expert and solving two Rubik's cubes simultaneously. Now I'm not sure where that's gonna get him in life, but I'm guessing far. Far, far away from the ladies. Kidding little buddy -- now you go out there and get 'em, tiger! No, put the cube down first.

Thanks to Julian and Chuck Nunchuck, who can play Guitar Hero on expert while solving Rubik's cubes AND texting and eating a cheeseburger.

Awwwww.......... cut that kid some slack........

aww damnit!

Holy cripes! That's pretty impressive!

Wow! Great dexterity and concentration! A possible MENSA candidate?

Not impressed.

He's looking at another screen or mirror reflection of GH while he's solving the rubiks, you can see him check the timing throughout the vid AND the reflection in his glasses. This is rewardless, guitar hero is pathetic & this won't get you laid any quicker than you already weren't going to

He did a great job. His brain is able to process many things, including puzzle solving, and dexterity to be able to strum and keep two things he's doing in his sight and mind.

Was he using a mirror? of course, it was shown in the beginning, but that's not important. Mad props to this guy.

that kid needs to get out more.

He using the mirror for one so he is visible in the video doing the trick and second it actually makes the track on the screen opposite than it really is thus making it even harder to do. And How knows maybe he will get laid by some nerdy chick that gets off on guitar hero and rubiks cubes.

I skipped over the part in the vid where he shows the mirror he uses, but alas it just goes to show why it's printed on the last page near the bottom in this years top selling book 'I thought I had talent'

@6 oh talent of the future look out, here comes megamultidexterity man. He should have played anakin skywalker he's so sharp. Pffft, my dog wags hit tail when he eats & knows when I'm in the kitchen making bacon all at the same time - his brain processes a lot of things too

this kid should pick up a real guitar because I think he'd be able to play some real good shit.

Didn't watch the video, but I ASSUME it took a whole buncha talent.

Really sucks that nowadays talent is viewed as "nerdy" or whatever, and he'll remain a virgin because of it.

WTF is wrong with the world? Goddamnit.

nah, he'll get laid. i know this.

all that with his elbows....this kid doesn't need to get laid because masturbation must be amazing

f1rst!

He's so gunna get all the girls...
He is actually the prince of the night!

I give the kid props.

I was going to make a lude prediction but decided against it something about twins, 3-way, and activating their 'star power.

so yeah. props kid.'

nope

If you look, GH is on lefty flip so in the mirror the notes appear as normal to a right-handed player. None the less.. I get frustrated when Icant even solve one rubik's cube and I have a square hole in my wall to prove it. So, good job.

its a fake
ok some one else can plug in the controller he might not even be playing.
understand

I like how bitchy his comments are. Sassy little kid you got there.

@20 Dead on. It's still impressive that he can move his left hand in the right positions and perform the memorized steps for his right hand.(cube was in a pre-set position) However, his elbow isn't even close to strumming fast enough. He misses huge chunks of notes during the solo that the screen indicates he hit.
Even with all that an impressive feat. Like a magic trick that us armchair critics can microanalyse and slam with snarky comments, reassuring ourselves that we are superior in our intellect and social position. Paint another spot on the chicken (look it up) Peck, peck, peck, peck, pecky, peck, peckpeckpeck.

This kid is obviously a government test project to see if the computer chip in his brain can perform complex tasks simultaneously. As you can see the chip still needs some work done to it. We are all safe for now until the government unleashes The Robot. But that's for another day.

hhhhhmmmmm......... yeah if he was really playing, he really needs to pick up a guitar. this videos games simulate everything, if people put the same amount of effort into doing the actual thing! like how people play world of warcraft and pour their whole life into it to level up and whatnot........ anyways the day they come up with like a simulated eating game or something, maybe some fatsos would loose weight! haha! but i guess nothing can replace that..... unless hey had some way to stimulate the brain and trick you into thinking you ate a bunch of IN N" OUT BURGER or something.......

little bastard.

You ever play drums? Four limbs moving independently, different rhythm, time signatures.
Piano? Three limbs, different rhythms, melodies.
Play guitar and sing?
People do it. And actually create something as well.

haha yea idk

Keep talkin' smart guy

So is this a prequel to 40 year old virgin?

Haw haw! I bet he rooms up with @28.

As if substituting a real guitar for a plastic toy/nerd machine wasn't already detrimental to any given person's likelihood of doing anything decent with themselves, this kid chooses to do this, solve two rubix cubes, film it, post it to youtube AND assume this gets him in with the cool kids on the internet...

hmm. sounded like it would be cool.. but it wasn't

funny i thought playing guitar hero normal was getting boring too

#6: You're an idiot. He's looking in the MIRROR from the first 10 seconds of the video. He's positioned that way so the camera can see him, the rubix cubes, and the tv. Since he's not facing the TV, he's looking in the mirror's reflection (so he's playing guitar hero backwards). That makes this MORE impressive, not less.

I'm only slightly impressed. He didn't even solve the first cube. Watch at 2:01, AFTER it says "First cube solved". You can see a dark spot in the center of the yellow. My dog can do that as she's humping my leg & simultaneously leading a seminar on Digital Astrophysics for the Macroeconomic Age, while impersonating Christopher Walken. In Hebrew.

My bad re: the above post - I meant white side. And I'm not buying the faded sticker bit at the end. At 6:02, you can see the cube on the left isn't fully solved - there are 3 boxes out of place.

Anyway, he totally blew the solos.

Solving 2 different things that you have to memorize is not impressive, i would regret on my words if he gets a girl through an orgasm while he plays contra 3 and finish. Thing he will never achieve, the first one.

That would be impressive

It looks more as if he's recorded himself playing GH previously and just hit the play button then pretend he's playing it. The mirror would make it easier if he is actually playing it and he probably set the cubes up in the same sequence so all he has to do is run the sequence backwards. My opinion? I think its set up.

My opinion? ITS A TRAP! My shields can't deflect awesome of THAT magnitude!

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never BAck Down where Max took the labels off a rubiks cube and made it unsolvable to vex a family member.

LOL@23

@22, I assume you havn't played much Guitar Hero in your days. When notes are next to each other you dont have to strum to hit them, timing the buttons is enough. It's pretty obvious he is playing the game, the solving of the cubes aren't as impressive as he problaby just remembers exactly how he have to move them so there's no real thought process to it, just memorization.

@38, both cubes are solved, you can clearly see the faded stickers matching their orginal color. The red one being the most obvious, it can't be any other color than red, it's to orange to be yellow, so what do you think it is? Blue..?

@40, I had a girl give me an orgasm while playing contra 4, most would call it dumb but not me. I'd say highpoint of my life.

@45
No, tard. At 6:02 (the END of 6:02) you can see the BLUE side has 2 wrong colored boxes at the top. Just because one or two sides are all solved doesn't mean the entire cube is solved. Anyway, I agree with the end of what @41 said - it's easy to set up & solve Rubik's Cubes by reversing the pattern you messed them up in.

And as far as the high point of your life being the time some chick got you off while you played Contra 4... my gosh, go take some mescaline or something. You need to get out more.

I say witchcraft.

BURN HIM.

I think I Saw this kid on the suite life on deck showing off mind blowing yoyo moves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2o0giE2yFA

actually, even though he IS probably legit, because he has no life whatsoever, and is actually playing (wiimote in guitar says first player) he is playing on a wii. obviously, and somewhat sadly, he will perish by breaking his pinky while reaching for orange, and fracturing his elbow due to masturbation and playing, and sneezing while holding a rubiks cube at an awkward angle so it gets jammed up in his grille.

@48
Grant Johnson played Johan Yo in the Suite Life episode.

This kid's name is Julian, and his YouTube profile is here:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JRefleX93&view=videos

Also, he uses a very common method called the Fridrich Method to solve the Rubik's Cube, which is basically a proven formula that even a monkey can learn:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fridrich_Method

Guitar Hero is also a learned technique that anyone can do with practice. Obvs this kid practices a lot by the shear amount of gaming vids on his YouTube, as well as all the giant TVs he seems to have.

So I'm not impressed, even if it IS real. When he cures cancer or finds a way to decrease the national debt I'll applaud him.

i cant do either of those things, but at least i can talk to women.

I play guitar, and occaisionally guitar hero. And I find playing the same pieces on GH a lot harder than I do on real guitar.

What's all this talk about him "getting laid"? Honestly, who cares about getting laid when you're the ultimate badass this kid is?

My point is this: Sex is something ANY idiot can do, and so holding it as a negative against someone with all these mad skillz is just stupid. No one should be celebrating the ability to do the nasty.

@53 If you think sex is something ANY idiot can do...remind me to never sleep with you.

He is going to get laid SOOOOO MUCH.....................

Soooo much.

I think someone needs to:

A: Get a few friends and have some human interaction and
B: Maybe go outside and oh I don't know, ride a bike, take a walk, get some fresh air.

Do you think his parents are proud of him? I mean playing Guitar Hero and solving a rubiks cube well that'll get you far in life hunh?

Good for you !!! You'll end up with eye cancer !!!!

@50, EasyThere,Rainman:

Please provide more information on the monkey or monkeys that has/have learned the dozens of algorithms necessary to utilize the Fridrich Method.

Or, better yet, the monkey that understands at least 1algorithm.

I'll be here when you are ready....

@58 crap:

Take a bite of this. Too bad you haven't been waiting too long for my answer. You could have learned the Fridrich method, Guitar Hero, AND gotten laid between your post & my response:

http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:m2PD-2KLrfgJ:www.uab.edu/philosophy/faculty/ross/EC%2520490/EC%2520490%2520implementation%2520of%2520learning%2520in%2520stochastic%2520response%2520systems.doc+monkey+learns+algorithm&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Obviousely the rubix cube is fake, cuz he dousnt look at it half the time

@58 crap:

In case that wasn't enough to satiate your need to be proven wrong, suck on this:

http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~jerryzhu/pub/monkey.pdf

"As Table 1 m- columns show, the monkeys took about 300 trials to abandon
an old concept and succeed 10 trials in a row on the new con-
cept. This is slow, but clearly better than random guessing,
which needs around 8.8 × 10 (to the power of) 4 trials."

Checkmate.

so he can play the electronic geetar with his elbow and solve a ribiks cube at the same time. can he unhook a bra?

It's funny how many people on Geekologie.com (geek-FREAKING-ologie!) are throwing the word nerd around. Are they ashamed of themselves? These same people are correcting mistakes in Star Wars love letters, but no, they're not nerds.

Might be impressive if he could actually play the song well enough.

lifes purpose fail

I can do that..... with my feet

Must See!!

EasyThereRainman:

Nice try, but... FAIL!

There is a big difference between a computer using algorithms to play a game against a monkey and a monkey understanding algorithms.

Just because your search engine found a document with the words 'monkey' and 'algorithm' doesn't mean you shouldn't read the document to find out whether or not it is relevent.

Just because monkeys can learn things (wow, amazing that you concluded such valuable insight) doesn't mean they can solve rubiks cube or master guitar hero.

Did you ever come up with that solitary monkey that understands algorithms? Because that's what I asked for. And that's what one needs to understand to solve rubik's cubes using the Fridrich Method - not random trying, not repetitive motions.

There is a specific objective to the 'method' that's why they call it a method and not random trying.

Can you even find an example of a monkey that can spell the word algorithm? I'll give you half a point if you can do that, at least.

Now... off to your search engine!

EasyThereRainman:

I just noticed your other post. Again, FAIL (underlined).

Again, there is a difference between monkeys understanding algorithms and comparing a monkey's learning to an online learning algorithm.

@crap

You're looking for a monkey who comprehends algorithms, and you seriously think I'm gonna go digging into a serious amount of research farther than using a search engine to support what was obviously a mere expression? Get over yourself. I found you an article that shows monkeys are capable of more than random guessing, which shows a preponderance to learning an algorithmic system.

My point was that this kid is doing nothing more than systematically learned behavior. What the hell else do you think a "method" is? I used my search engine again(!) to provide you the definition of method: "Orderly arrangement of parts or steps to accomplish an end, i.e. random efforts that lack method."

I'm not here to argue with you over a facetious comment I made to express how what this kid is doing is not as difficult as it is made to be. It's a friggin method. It's learned, repetitive behavior. What it ultimately comes down to is that this kid spends too much damn time practicing a couple of useless activities - (oh how cool! Look he can do them both at once!) - while he could be using that time to do something productive for humanity.

Here's a video of something more impressive & just as useless:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roJzWYiXFtg

At least the damn dalmatian is doing something productive - he can get to a fire faster than a kid in his room with a cube & a controller.

Pretty amazing!!! but if you think about it....... knowing how to play Guitar Hero and solving a rubik's cube at once is kind of pointless.

ITs beening shown on sportsnation on ESPN 2 within the next hour

I am female and that turns me on... I am also just a huge nerd and anything horribly nerdy is just incredibly sexy. I am no longer impressed my my sexy friend's speed cube times. Not until he can do that while playing guitar hero with his elbow. =D
