Aug 27 2009Is This Nessie Spotted On Google Earth?

I'm not even sure what I'm looking at. It looks like a snake chasing a giant squid. But according to some security guard who was busy surfing Google Earth instead of patrolling his beat, it's the Loch Ness Monster (love you, Nessie).

Jason Cooke told The Sun he spotted "Nessie" while browsing the website's satellite photos. Mr Cooke, 25, of Nottingham, said: "I couldn't believe it. It's just like the descriptions of Nessie."

The image can be seen by entering coordinates Latitude 57°12'52.13"N, Longitude 4°34'14.16"W in Google Earth (or playing with the map above).

Earlier this year it was reported that climate change may have killed the Loch Ness Monster. There have been "no "credible sightings" of Nessie for over a year.

Veteran American monster hunter Bob Rines thinks environmental conditions in the Highland loch have changed and can no longer sustain the elusive reptile.

Gary Campbell, of the monster's official fan club, said: "I'm concerned. There have been none of the normal sightings that verify that Nessie and her family are still alive and well."

Haha, these people actually think the Loch Ness Monster is real. That's great (bless their special little hearts). You know, these are the same people that keep asking for government grants to go hunt for Bigfoot. Which, SPOILER ALERT: bitch was delish!

Is the Loch Ness monster on Google Earth? [telegraph]

Thanks to Asbo and Praveen, who only hunt for dragons because dragons are real and sit on mountains of treasure.

it might be real.. haha right

Wait...Isn't Google Earth just still images? I mean, the last time I looked up my house on Google Earth, the image was from before the building next to me was built...Just an empty lot beside my house there.

first, and yeah nothing much to see here

Epic Fail

and i'm not first.... nothing much to see HERE <----

Zoom out a couple levels and it looks like a couple wind blown waves and a boat...

Uh. That's a boat people. Has no one ever ridden in a boat before? You do realize that boats make wakes right? One from the bow and one from the stern/motor. Idiots.

looks like a sign to a sperm bank or something

Hrm. I don't necessarily believe in the loch ness monster, but I was reading this book called The Longest Walk and this dude busted outta a Russian Gulag and walked all the freaking way to India. In the mountains he observed Yeti for close to three hours. That I believe.

If you scroll a little to the right...You can see a penis shape monster in the water too! I heard those are nice...

Nessies real!

if you zoom out a little you can see alphabet soup monsters that spell out google

I'm dissapointed in the GW. Nessie is basically a dinosaur

What the hell is that feista ad in the top right, looks like a female link holding a pikachu... stupid online 'free' games...

All I see is the search engine. Make your own Geekologie!

#7, lol, that's what I said. You see boats all the time looking at google earth.. but if you see one in loch ness, it just has to be a monster.

BTW if this would be a monster, it would be bigger than King Kong, bigger than 2-3 houses, this is so ridiculous...

Ok check out 57°09'17.98"N, 4°40'17.97"W

Those are boats. Unless Nessie just had babies near the harbor. They look just like the supposed Nessie, anyways.

Proof positive the great spaghetti monster exists.... may his noodly appendage touch you.
And if you're a hot chick, may my hands touch your b00bies!

what a freakin riduculously boring thursday...

thanks GW for finally giving us a real map instead of just directing us to an overused location that doesn't work

I could not agree more. I've managed to spend about two hours wandering around my building but I think my boss is getting wise to that. Highlight of my day was when a homeless guy asked me for change (didn't have any) so he asked me for my credit card. wtf.

If anyone thinks that is anything other than a boat, they are a moron.

And besides, a bunch of sciency people sonar'd every square inch of that lake and found nothing. Why people still propagate this crappy old myth is beyond me.

Um... Sorry for the confusion, guys, but... gosh this is embarrassing... well, see, I was out for a skinny dip in the lake that day...

Looks like a giant sperm to me.

@ 26

Yeah... I get that a lot.

That picture's from 2006. At least that's what Google Earth told me.

@25 + @26 I'm putting two and two together here

@29 Really? Looks like you're putting 25 & 26 together to me. Just sayin'.

It has to be, look, the picture is the same as all the other pictures of Nessie, grany and fuzzy.

Boat. Wake. White caps. Nuff said.

it's Cthulhu

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never BAck Down where Max put on goat leggings and danced while trying to solve a crime, and rescue a virgin.

That's not Nessie, that's Cthulhu. The octopus head totally gives it away. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn, bitches.

Man, I totally got robbed of props for this story. Thanks alot GW!

If you zoom out a little and scroll up and to the right, following the loch you see this giant alien face in the water!,-4.493022&spn=0.033926,0.111151&z=14

Anyone else see it?

@37, yea, I see it clearly. Looks a little like keyboard cat. Ghosty?

only thing worth while here is #8, #30, and #34

and that's a stretch

Deeeee. That giant squid is a BOAT! See the wakes from the bow cutting the water and the bottom of the stern? Then the motor is creating the line in the center. The "monster" is likely no more than a wave breaking. Apparently some people want to believe something so bad that even the most obvious real thing becomes whatever their wild imagination wants to see. Get some sleep, lay off the bottle, and don't eat those dried mushrooms.

Jason Cooke is apparently an idiot.

Nope......don't see it. But I'm closing my eyes, so that might be the problem.

What's up with you guys? The GW's talking about the monster shape on the left, not the obvious boat on the right. No? Anyway, if that's the monster it's swimming on its side.

CAN'T be the Loch Ness monster!!! I was shacked up with that tramp for almost 20 years! I have it on good authority (since that's where a sizable portion of my checks go) that she recently bought a flat in the city. DAMN YOU, NESSIE!

Must See!!!

It really does look more like a snake chasing a giant squird then nessie

Dummies, Loch Ness monster is a water dragon, his treasures are pots of gold he stole when he ate all the leprechans (spell check please)

pretty sure google earth just had some fun throwing in a fish design in the water. maybe its atlantis!! or an island of somesort.....but nessie is said to be in scotland anyways. not an ocean.
