Jul 6 2009Gruesome: Billboards Bleed When It Rains
An ad agency in New Zealand made a series of billboards that remind drivers to slow down and "drive to the conditions" during the rainy season. The billboards, which feature a young person's face, start bleeding whenever it rains.
"The advertising agency that came up with the sign says the goal was to reduce the road toll by creating maximum awareness through unease."
Unease is right, I can barely look at my monitor, let alone the road. HOLY SHIT I'M DRIVING.

Thanks to towhee, who just pulls over and makes out whenever it rains. Oooh la la.

I think GW humorously touched on the point, (or maybe not) but what's it do when people are talking on their cell phones, putting on makeup, eating, steering with their knees, while watching their favorite dvd on a television, all while swatting their kids in the back seat? Granted they did say that the weather conditions were specifically problematic, so maybe the New Zealander's haven't progressed to the point where they can violently and horrifically disfigure, maim, and kill other drivers in such a varied and diverse fashion. Wouldn't this also just distract drivers, and draw their attention away from the road in adverse and already dangerous conditions?
P.S. Daisy still sucks.

As long as they don't start using these types of billboards for Tampon & Maxi Pad Advertisements.... I think we'll be ok.

Distracting billboards to teach people to pay more attention to the road seems like a logical way to go.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was at a party dancing with a chick who bled all over his leg.

Ha ha, the police officer said everyone's driving sucks. What I'm concerned with is if that news reporter is single. Wanna visit the states, baby?

yeah.. newzulland and australia sorta take the road deaths seriously.. tool around youtube for aus rta ads (road and traffic authority) and nz ltsa ads (land transport safety authority).. they're all high budget, brutal ads that depict the horrifying consequences of speeding, drink driving, being too rad... etc.. but pretty much the worst case senario.. i give you exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xhv6fSdz7vk&feature=PlayList&p=7A1E7B0824180059&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4

I'm looking for a set of all the other kinky Land Transport Safety Authority ads in New Zealand to fire up my students in Quebec for a poster campaign. Does anyone know where to find them?
