Jun 11 2009Star Trek Communicator App For iPhone

Want a realistic Star Trek communicator app for your iPhone? You're in luck, dog.
This classic Star Trek communicator app for iPhone slipped past us when it was first released into the App Store at the end of May. The spot on graphics and familiar chirping sound triggered when performing the epic cover-flip to access the communicator's controls is pure goodness.
This app is dangerously authentic and it's actually useful too. Unfortunately the developers had to name it "Star Radio Communicator" ($.99) in order to keep Paramount from sniffing out their brilliant effort.
*BEEP BOOP chirpity chirp chirp* Geekologie Writer, come in -- this is your captain speaking. What do you say you and I go investigate planet Dinosauria and score some sweet tail? "Captain, I've already been beamed."
UPDATE: App was purchased by several Geekologie Readers who attest the thing is a monster piece of shit and doesn't sound right at all. Save your buck.
Star Trek Communicator for iPhone Is Spot On [iphonesavior]
Thanks to Michael, who boob beep chirpity chirps all the ladies. And to Dan, Aaron and konstance for each pissing away $1 to find out it sucks the balls.

I can't believe people actually pay money for the junk they put on the iPhone... A ridiculously small amount of those apps are even amusing or usefull. Couldn't make myself buy that phone unless it was the only one available.

You'd think with the release of the film, Paramount would have jumped on supporting something like that.

This app sucks. I'm highly dissapointed in the GW.
The sounds are nothing like the real thing.
Poor poor GW.
Epic Fail.

If Paramount has any brains at all, they sell the guy a license fee or just hire him and put him to work designing iPhone apps as movie tie-ins. That way he can do a lot of things he's probably legally constrained from doing, such as using the original sounds.

To everyone upset with the sound effects in the app - sorry. However, the great news is that we've just updated the app with brand new authentic sound effects and it's in approval with Apple right now. So everyone who already spent a buck or will be spending a buck on the app will be getting a new version with the ultra-realistic sound effects shortly. Thank you for your patience from the app devs at talkndog.com

Love this app. Can't wait for the upgraded sounds. I'm not that freaked out on the sounds I'm loving the entire app as is. It can only get better. Live long and prosper.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like thwe scene in the movie Never Bqack Down where Max was called for an away mission and was issued a red shirt. He swapped it for Some fag's blue shirt, and watched him die.

@ 16
No matter how hard you try, Anton, you will never be able to make Star Trek the kind of commercial whore that Star Wars is. Star Wars is the hot, younger, sluttier sister of Star Trek. I should know, because Phantom Menace gave me the clap! I still love her though.......Damn you Star Wars!
