Jun 20 2009Pew Pew!: Guy Builds Bumblebee In Yard

bumblebee.jpg

As most of you probably know, the original Bumblebee was a Volkswagen Beetle. And as very few of you probably know, I still have the original toy around here somewhere because I'm gangster.

Tom Rhodes likes Transformers. So, naturally, he built an 18-foot-tall, 1,200-pound Bumblebee robot out of an old Volkswagen Beetle.

As you can see, Bumblebee protects Tom's windmill from the Decepticons. Because, fun fact: Decepticons HATE clean energy. Transform and recycle!

Man builds gigantic Bumblebee Transformer in his front yard [dvice]

Thanks to FDSY, who once tried switching the bodies on two of his old Transformer toys but it didn't work BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT G.I. JOE'S.

OG Bumblebee rules. His cod piece looks to be a good 200 lbs or so.

Pew Pew Pew!!!!

The guy plans on a Vehicle mode Prime . . . Feh kinda lame. I wonder if the guy plans on putting lights into Bee like the Gundam Statue? should be easy. Anywhoo I say Hells Yeah! I deffinately want one (Kinda always dreamed of having a Prowl statue in my front lawn that would spray the mail man with water, oh to dream)

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max met up with some weird guys who were looking for a key that played musical notes and opened the door between 2 worlds. It turns out that any keyboard could do the job, and these weird losers weren't nearly as magical as Yanni.

And how it will transform back in a car?

Nah seriously though, this guy's a real-life friend and it's pretty awesome. You can see it from the highway driving by every day. Sort of in the boonies, so...

Now if he can just train it to infiltrate the set of Transformers 3 & step on Shia LeDouche, the world will be a much happier place.

Whooo yaaa. They should have never redesigned bumbled bee to a sports car. The Volkswagen Beetle is a fitting design for the small autobot.

This guy did wonderful job!

The game takes less than 5 minutes to play!

looks great ..and powerful .

It's not only impressive but it looks funny too! Good job!

So is Bumblebee trying to drop some bad Mexican cubes he had for dinner last night? What's with the squat?

Never underestimate a man's dream to one day build a lifelike replica of a giant robot from a 1980's cartoon. Voltron, your next big guy!

GW loves robots!

and why wasn't this what was featured in the movies??? they should've just kept the movie the same as the show, and made the story happen in the 80's. THAT would've been awesome.

on a separate note, looks like the builder cheaped out on the gun. bumblebee is holding some pipes that resemble a nerf pump action gun.
