Jun 16 2009Cute Stop-Motion Video Made With Post-Its

This is artist Bang-Yao Liu's senior project from SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). It's a stop motion video that uses different colored Post-It notes as pixels. I recommend watching the whole thing. Twice. Then telling yourself you could do better, even though we both know you couldn't. And I'm not just saying that because you're lazy, but because you're talentless.

Thanks to Joemo and the other person who sent me this whose email I couldn't find again because I'm a no-talent hack failure.

Very cute. Makes me stare at my blank wall, wondering what I could do with Post-it's.

first....

As cool as these stop-motion movies are, who the Hell has the time to make these friggin' things?!

I wish MY parents had a lot of money to support my movie making habit. That'd be so awesome.

1st!
Glad to see some SCAD students' work on here. Great school. Great town. ...but I'm partial since it's my hometown.

4th!

5th!

First I would cut the post-its into smaller post-its. Because I have the money I would pay top dollar for autistic children of scientology households. I would have them recreate various scenes from The Shinning and Sweeny Todd. Perhaps a dream world where you see Doom playing out in front of you to the tune of Sunshine and Lolipops, coordinating shot gun blasts to imps heads with the downbeat. Given that we'd be using autistic kids that we'd Pavlovianly condition to respond positively to working with post-its, I estimate a similar project could be completed in 8 hours if you gave them sugar. I don't have the talent, but I bet someone else does.

The good thing about being an artist is that your work is to play!

i wonder how long it takes to make one of these things? i feel like that's a year-long project

He appears to be made of bacon

@3 Yeah, I live in Savannah too but I disagree about the "great school" comment. And also, the "great town" part. Did you live on River Street and never went farther than two blocks away?

We could both agree that it's still better than Garden City! WHAAAT!

I expected something different from a guy named Bang You

Nice outfits. Post-it's must be really lucrative!

hey GW... welcome to last week's news!

Just thinking about the time put into that blows my mind.

Hey! I got that song on my ipod, Röyksopp rules!

I could totally do better than that... Or maybe, not.

Impressive and a half!

FIRST!!

That was really cool. Could've done with a boob shot though.

If you look at the computer screen he's actually playing the same video that you are watching...kinda neat.

@21 Maybe he wasn't playing it, maybe he was making it at that point. Still neat though.

If anyone wants to know.

The songs is Royksopp - Eple

underwhelmed. really did nothing innovative with the post-its and even LESS with the stop motion. we've seen too much of both and this is nothing.

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max invented an invisibility spray in chemistry class. When a crook found out about it he planned to steal it and use it for evil. Max foiled his plan in the end though.

This reminds me of an apple commercial, I think it's the song.

Yeah it is the song that was from an apple commercial. This would also have been a good commercial idea.

Not tooting my own horn, but i think I was the "other person" who sent this in. Tsk Tsk, how could you forget the email that's such a blatant Monkey Island reference, however incorrectly spelled it may be? Oh well....perhaps next time.

red rain.......mmmmm yea and blood will storm from the heavens and the people of the land shall call it judgement day the lo the geekology writer will stand in defiance of the robot apocolypse...

Wow...you peole are a bunch of jealous ass haters! Obviously none of you have a frickin appreciation of education or the fact that this is a school project...or for that matter he put in a lot of work into this piece of art. Screw all of you that can't give another human being a compliment. Shame on you for being a society of morons that can't even give props to someone that deserves it.

Bang - awesome job man. You definately have a lot of talent and I enjoyed your piece. Keep it up and good luck to you in your career!

Wonder how long it took him to film everything. Must've been a bitch to keep applying the post-it-notes

like your music choice, that song gives your short more dynamism, and also pixels animation is very well done.

High five! SEO is part science and part art. In science, some hypotheses are substantiated opinion and not theory. In art, much of the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Best practices for SEO, usability and design, for example, will not produce the same results on A/B tests for sites with differing content and audience.

that is a awesome idea
