Jun 4 2009Boom Drink: How To Make Exploding Cocktails

You just freeze a mint flavored Mento in an ice cube and then make a drink for a friend (read: enemy). Any artificially sweetened soda should work, but preferably something darker so the frozen Mento isn't so obvious. Then, a few minutes later when the Mento is exposed to the soda, BOOOSH! Alternatively, garnish your friend's glass with a live hand grenade.

Seeing that I have a bar in the basement (ak-47 vodka mmm) I don't think exploding soda would make a good addition to it. I'm also not keen on mixed drinks exploding from their containers when they could be exploding from my esophagus instead.
Ok fuk it, going to make one of these for the wife right now

Doesn't seem scientifically sound. Have they actually tried this? The Mentos/soda reaction is not a chemical reaction, but is caused by small bumps on the outside of the mento giving carbonation bubbles a place to form rapidly as the Mento falls through the soda to the bottom of the glass or bottle and "explode" the drink.
Wouldn't the surface of the Mento dissolve in the water while waiting to freeze?
Wouldn't a relatively still Mento in the bottom of the glass fail to produce enough bubbles for an "explosion?"
As the ice melted, only small portions of the Mento would be exposed at a time, thus causing small amounts of bubbles to form. Wouldn't the person with the drink just notice little flares of carbonation?

Less "will not work"s and more "did"s not work"s.

Wheter it works or not, there is no need for diet soda. The sugarfree part just makes it less sticky...but this is for an enemy, no?
14. Adam - June 4, 2009 12:38 PM
@4 It's so obvious, but I never thought of it either. I can't wait to do this to someone. I just have to sneak ice to their place, because I imagine this may make a mess on the carpet just a little...

Trinitrotoluene works a little better. Just ask my brother. He's such a douche he actually blames me for his disfigurement. Sheesh, brothers, what can you do?
19. kreebilicus - June 4, 2009 12:45 PM
or just give them a pint of benzene and then inject crude oil into their eyeballs as they lie dead/paralysed (probably dead) on the floor.

@6 why don't you try it out yourself? scientific breakthroughs always come from accidents and/or experimentation. you think you sound like a scientist when, in fact, you appear to be a naysaying doofus with no more back up than the post already has.
actions v words. theoreticians can suck my ball sack and then get a nice fat donkey punch.

..."would you like a soda?"

It's a good thing they provide step by step instructions. I do this myself but usually I put something like a live gibbersnicle in the ice tray. And by gibbersnicle I mean heroin.....Then I laugh and laugh. Sometimes I skip the prank altogether and just take the heroin myself. And by sometimes, I mean every time. Then I laugh and laugh....I think.

No harm meant, just honestly asking, and no, I'm not trying "to sound like a scientist," just a person who reads a book occasionally.

@31,
You can still buy an ice tray for a couple of bucks pretty much anywhere, which is what I'm doing after work. Then I will serve my lady an ice cold Coke hehehe! I actually wondered the same thing about the Mentos dissolving in the water before it becomes frozen. Well, only one way to find out..............

I prefer to just freeze my urine into ice cubes and use that for someone's drink.
They don't notice until it starts to melt...
Watch their face change with each progressive sip.

Our fathers were our models for God. If our fathers bailed, what does that tell you about God?
You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you. He never wanted you. In all probability, he hates you. This is not the worst thing that can happen
