May 18 2009Not A Plane: Winged Submarine Is Confused

sub 1.jpg

The Super Falcon isn't a bird at all. OR IS IT?!? No, it's not. It's a submarine with wings. The brainchild of British inventor Graham Hawkes, the sub is capable of diving to depths of 1,500 feet, achieving breakneck speeds of up to six knots (~7MPH or some really kinky bondage), and traveling approximately 25 nautical miles on a battery charge.

Mr Hawkes said: 'After twenty years of prototyping, Super Falcon is our most advanced and elegant submersible yet, encompassing all the innovations we made in introducing underwater flight from the surface to the bottom of the ocean.'

'It is advanced enough to go barrel-rolling with dolphins, spy-hopping with whales or searching for sunken galleons,' Mr Hawkes added.

Oh hell yes -- I want to go barrel rolling with dolphins and have sex with the Loch Ness Monster! Nessie -- NESSIE! She's a relative of the dinosaurs you know. RAWR! Or should I say WUWW!? That's RAWR underwater.

Hit the jump for several more shots of all the fun to be had.

Water way to travel! Super winged submersible that 'flies' through the ocean unveiled [dailymail]

Thanks to Spikey DaPikey, Maldrien and SA, who all want to have relations with dolphins because they're sickos.

Awesome! Ill make me one

Underwater flight? I didn't know that was a proper term. I thought it was called swimming.

Alright, I'm off to the pool for some underwater flying.

I am confused

or diving. I bet it'd go faster without those wings.

His last name is Hawkes and he named the thing Super Falcon?
Hawkes' Hawk would have been much cooler.

Whats the Price on that action?

Falco PUNCH!!!

Actually the idea of the wings, is to go with sharks, dolphins anything that moves throught the water fast has flippers which those are. Also it helps so you can just drop on in too one of the family shots and no one will know.

I would ride that

Packaging fail, Chinese ppl over did it.

@7

Damn, beat me to it.

best air/sea craft piloted by a giant head ever!

Nothing like the feeling of being trapped underwater while travelling at the breakneck speeds of a whopping 7mph.

No thanks.

can you eat a burrito in there?

This would be better than holding my girlfriends head under the covers, after I fart.

Thruster?

If you start running out of oxygen can you eject the guy in the back seat?

It really shouldn't go faster than 7mph because then everyone'd be running them into reefs and drowning.

Doesn't seem that maneuverable. And the construction looks a little unsafe

Erm... Lead Belfast?
Shouldn't that be Lead Ballast?

after 20 years of prototyping we just made a missle

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was flying witht he dolphins, but since he could only go 7 mph he couldn't keep up with them.

this is so cool!. you can use it to sink rich peoples yachts!

Well it would be cool IF: It could go faster than a frikkin big wheel, could fly and had lots of guns

hmmm, I think that if they brought a compressed gas and released it through a mesh infront of the nose of that sub, they could make it go faster. A sharper nose would be better as well. of course there would be a problem with visibility, but that could be sorted with a camera that is before the bubbles. hmmm... and instead of batteries, they could use fuel cells like in the space program. the possibilities are endless!

F-Zero = super falcon..... I think

I love it. I'll take two please. (The other one I'll use only for the weekends)

MUST SEE GUYS!!! >>

Maybe it's coincidence but it has pretty much a resemblance with a V1 rocket. It's a bit late but I knew those bombings were good for something at last.

This reminds me on a Tintin comic scene.Very look-a-like submarine.

Yeah, real advanced... up until a jet ski takes out your bubblehead.

Wings because it doesn't have any ballasts meaning if it stops it goes up to the surface. It's called dynamic diving and works like a plane flies....only the other way around since it dives.
