Apr 23 2009Fair Trial Fail: Judge In Pirate Bay Case A Member Of Swedish Copyright Association

So yeah, it turns out the questionably honorable judge (Tomas Norstrom) in the recent Pirate Bay trial is "a member of the Swedish Copyright Association and sits on the board of Swedish Association for the Protection of Industrial Property". How did this even happen? Hint: Swedish Fish. Love those things.
Peter Althin, the lawyer for TPB cofounder Peter Sunde, said he's asking the Swedish appeals court to consider ordering a retrial based on the judge's possible bias, the BBC reports.
"The judge in one of Sweden's most high profile case ever is also a member of an interest organisation for one side and associates with the prosecution trial lawyers in his free time? That is inexcusable corruption.
Wow, I don't even know where to being with -- ORDER IN THE BLOG! ORDER IN THE BLOG! Bailiff, remove this unruly commenter from my blogroom. Then come back and let me touch your gun. Now, where were we? Oh right -- recess. Who's down for hopscotch?!
Pirate Bay judge is member of Copyright Association [zdnet]
Thanks to Matty, who is now welcome to join my pirate crew -- provided he pass the three trials first.

loopholes. Pirate Bay basically operates off of them. Why stop there. I'm sure the next judge will have some interest in some other legal activity that will back him look biased becuase he's into "legal" stuff.
Way to go system. Wheeeee!

Oh really, the copyright association. as I recall, Tomas norström has defended the godfather family members of the expatriate post civil war yugoslav mafia in stockholm for at least the last decade, fun to see he has new hobbies.
he is also a high profile rapist defender and likes to harass and break down rape victims in court.

#4: Yeah, but at the same time, without them, how the hell can someone get out of unfair situations; ie I think this is a very valid time.

There you go, some more of the Copyright bastards throwing their money around to bully the powerless.
Pirates are poor people tired of getting blatantly ripped off by the entertainment industry. How the hell are they supposed to mount any kind of resistance when the Movie/Music Poduction conglomerates can buy judges and pressure governments, through lobbies, into passing stupid /3 strikes" laws or whatever.
Ridiculous. I say we get our pickaxes and home-made blowtorches and get some frickin' payback.

copyright laws make me cite my sources for all the papers i write. i do not care for all that business. Hey copyright people, I was just checking my medical chart and it says right here you're shits all retarded and you talk like fags. I'd get that checked out.

i will get a bit cruel.
i hope they get convicted (all torrent sites, in fact), why?
the last time this happened it was good.
an extensive retaliation will follow from the web community in form of thousands of torrent servers, and search engines. that's just the way the web works. exactly like the bush admin, someone brings down a few landmarks and millions of people get angry enough to launch a full scale invasion. the collateral damage here would be the software companies,.. in fact anyone who is trying to sell something digital.
in fact, what is needed is an extensive propaganda to buy the original product from the authorities as well as from crackers (witch is already there in some geekdick short form of some messages).
my way to torrent:
a lay my eyes on a game, torrent it, and if it's actually good enough to replay it and eventually go multiplayer, i buy it. i buy it, not because of the extra content, i buy it as an appreciation for the developers. this way i don't buy crap
gears of war, and adobe CS4 master is next ;)
(i lied - i don't download, use, view, distribute anything that i haven't payed for legally - i lied)

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We extort, we pilfer, we filch and sack
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Maraud and embezzle and even high-jack
Drink up me hearties yo ho
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We burn up the city, we're really a fright
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We're rascals, scoundrels, villains, and knaves
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me
We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads
Drink up me hearties, yo ho

@23 - And REALL BAD EGGS! WHY IS THE RUM GONE?
This just goes to show not only are the pirates corrupt, but those who seek "justice" against them are corrupt as well... It's almost like life imitating art, imitating life....
27. mark - April 24, 2009 11:21 AM
@26 art and life
Ah the classic case of Good vs. Evil...Here the accusation of corruption lies within eye of the beholder....In this case, a judge in cohort with the group having the most to loose. Certainly not the starving artists...Hand the artist a fiddle and a pint and promise them a warm spot to lay their head and we'll see who sings a merry tune!
28. LonnieBubonic - April 24, 2009 1:28 PM
however you want to explain the situation, the simple fact remians anyone entrusted with the responsibility of deciding the fate of the accused should not be in an OBVIOUS position of conlfict of interest. I don't know how they handle this crap in sweden but, in the US i highly doubt this situation would go much further.
29. Tabion - April 24, 2009 5:29 PM
@27
Starving artists, you say? Why, how could starving artists afford all of those lobbies pushing for stricter compyright laws and more aggressive prosecution of pirates? They couldn't, that's how. It's their management companies that can afford it.
Waaaaaiiit a minute... Managers are filthy stinking rich and artists are starving and poor? Just who's stealing from the artists here, hu?
the way I see it, pirates steal from the managers' net earn predictions while the managers steal from the artists' daily bread.

@8 graf zeppelin:
Could you elaborate on the Yugoslav mafia and pro-rapist connections? Any links to a website or article?
