Apr 23 2009Baby Shaking App Pulled From iTunes Store

baby shaker.jpg

In an unshocking turn of events, Apple has pulled 'Baby Shaker', an iPhone application that allows users to shake a baby until red X's appear over its eyes and it stops crying, from the iTunes store.

Within a day of the game being available for download, childcare organisations had reacted with fury to the game's shocking premise.

An Apple spokesman would not comment on why the program was initially approved for sale nor about how many people downloaded the game. Apple screens every iPhone application and has rejected a number of controversial apps in the past, including one that let iPhone users throw virtual shoes at President Bush.

First of all, shaking babies isn't really funny. And secondly, I'm more than a little pissed that POS application got approved and mine didn't. How the hell does 'Baby Shaker' make it and not, 'The Oregon Happy Trail: An Adventure In My Pants'. What? It was educational! You died of gonorrhea.

Also, I've had several requests for a Geekologie iPhone app. Personally, I view the site in the browser, but hey, if somebody wants to make one, I won't pay you. But I will make you famous. Internet famous.

Geekologie iPhone App: Its called an RSS Reader..

@5

Didn't that shit happen 10 years ago? Perfect timing. You're a regular Carlos Mencia.

I know Shum, I just want to hear about what Daisy says about it

this reminds me of when i used to call masturbation "shaking the baby." it became less amusing after i became a parent, but only marginally so.

Shaking babies=not funny.

Shaking boobies=funny.

@9 LOL! its like saying that the phrase "Choking your chicken" became less amusing after becoming a farmer.

and idk about you but i would rather throw shoes at George Bush than shake a baby.... or maybe throw babies at George Bush....

DAISY!

WHERE ARE YOU??????????????????

Throwing shaken babies at George Bush is more win than Japan's age of consent...

@7... yes that WAS the joke... hence the "too soon?"

way to let it fly over your head man

That's just messed up....

Why would anyone need an app to do this? Go down to a nearby park, plenty of real babies you can shake down there.

Too bad this was pulled. This could have eaten up a lot of my spare time. And saved me some fuel.

@14

It was either that or let it hit me square in the face. I need my face. It's my meal ticket.

Now all Apple needs to do is get rid of that annoying AT&T 'app' and they may have a product I'd be interested in.

Very true Ollie, that happens a lot at parks around here

shaking babies:: not funny
babies shaking:: funny but questionable

Harmless app, but kinda bad taste. Its funny they had it pulled, like anyone would go out an dshake a real baby just because it was an app. How stupid do they think people are?

it's just a picture, would have been cooler if it was 3D...

I loled a little bit ... but the shaken baby thing goes further than just an app when I was in Japan we had american tv and there was a DONT SHAKE YOUR BABY commercial ... like the problem in the military or hell american population was growing out of control that we've resorted to commercials ... and this program isnt that bad its just teaching parents that WANT to shake their baby not to just shake this one not the real one .... imo

@23

Nobody has ever gone broke under estimating the intelligence of the American people.

Strangely enough Robot Martini Games decided NOT to publish "Supa Shaka De Baby", a game about shaking your infant (or not) we were working on a system where you could see where other players' dead babies had been dumped too...

Damn all of you have been to or are in japan now or before. Why didn't I know this before, we could've had noodles together?

...and by noodles I mean babies

Amazing this even got approved in the first place. If not for the poor taste but they had to know it was going to get bad publicity, and Apple isn't a bad publicity is better than no publicity company. They're doing just fine in that department.

Lemme see if I got this straight: you buy an iphone for like $400, but you don't have a choice of service provider, AND the apps you're ALLOWED to have are censored. WTF? Who would b dumb enuff to buy these things?

NAAS SHUT UP!!! I HATE DAISY POSTING STUPID FAKE! COMMENTS ON HERE. THIS APP IS FCUKING SICK AND WHOEVER MADE IT NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!! THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT A BABY BEING SHAKEN!!!

feel better now watch?

Wow that was sick and pathetic at the same time. You would think the asshole who did this would have done something better with the graphics. I'm glad the NYT got all up in arms about this being pulled. They have a hard left, pro abortion agenda to push, and this wonderful app really helped drive home the fact that new born humans are worthless and in need of killing.

James Bond, how do you like your baby?

Shaken, not stirred.

.... too soon?

This does not offend me. No, but seriously - this isn't serious...this does not offend me. Isn't there something wrong with the economy right now...?

@7
that just made me actually laugh out loud. carlos mencia's such an asshole, and you are awesome. thanks!

@35

THAT'S how you do a proper "too soon" joke. catch22, take notes.

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a faike because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never BAck down where max spent a drunken week in Las Vegas, where he spent hundreds of dollars a night on booze, but creativity in expense reporting will get much of that back.

I'm just wondering, who the fcuk would want an app that sounds like a baby crying? That shit is just annoying.

But's where's the "Kick the Baby" app?

Or the "Browse CL for Hookers to Rob" app?
...too soon?

shaking babies::not funny in real life
shaking baby jokes::sometimes funny

a) jesus::was just trying to get laid with that water into wine bit, he now thinks that particular game has gone too far...
b) kathy griffen::is lower than Lisa Lampinelli's cover charge at club VD
c)obama::president
d)masterbating::is kinda like sugar free candy - it can be good, but it's really there just to hold you over until you're allowed to have the real thing again.
e)all of the above

Correct answer: e!

Damn. I wanted that app!

Get in my belly!

Too late?

Oh, of COURSE, I forgot Apple's run by an egotisitcal jackoff and will do anything to avoid bad publicity. Sorry, Bill, but you have to listen to College McDrunken again.
