i don't know how many of you folks actually listened to the audio, but it seems like it's the McDonalds that should be attacked here and not her. calling 911 three times, or even once might have been excessive (optimally she should have looked up the local police number rather than calling an emergency number), but what the McDonalds was doing was stealing (taking money for something, not providing the thing paid for, and not returning the money when requested to).

Makes me think of the 'McDonalds Dollar Menu Millionaire' video. Ahhhh, memories :)

I agree. It's still not exactly a 911 case but she was calling because they were literally trying to steal her money. It may have been a relatively small amount but it's still a crime and I don't understand why McDonald's isn't receiving more criticism for this. She didn't call 911 cause they were out of mcnuggets, she called 911 cause she was being robbed.

This kind of incident isn't exactly new. There was another call roaming around the interwebz where a lady in the drive-through was calling because they made her burger wrong or something along those lines. The 911 respondent ended up cracking on her about using them for something that wasn't an emergency it was great.

The lady just didn't call the right number. I feel bad for her. Sorry to say it...but she was probably poor and gave up the little money she had for FOOD and got NOTHING in return. When they refused to give back the money she did not take a bat/gun to them or threaten to kill them...she called a mediator. If she would have "acted a fool," then she would have been wrong (even though thats what she should have done, people respond better to aggression).

Just throwing it out there: the way the home market is, homelessness is becoming a real epidemic. If she had a little cash for some nuggets she could have bought some groceries. However, if she didn't have a stove to cook it on, then that's a bigger problem. She might have been using the store phone to call as well. I don't think it's relevant to criticize her judgment from a financial point of view. There is a reason why there is a higher concentration of McDonalds restaurants in the poorest parts of the United States. As a person who values every penny that he works for, I see the problem here. if I pay for something and don't receive the product I paid for it my right to get my money back...even if I am offered a product of higher value. This is the same logic that I use when I see homeless people who are not disable or old. Why should I give away the money I've worked hard for even if it is a few dollars? Yes, McDonalds should have given her the money back or offered some way to make it right if they really, for some odd reason, couldn't. Offered her a voucher for free nuggets next time plus another to make up for the missing money? Something.
She should have waited until the next day to go back to the store and file a complaint. Or just file a complaint with corporate- I've had to do that a few times with several companies, one of them McDonalds and had the issues resolved very well and then some.
