Here's the thing, though: The distribution of wealth is wrong. Those rich people, up at the top, who will get taxed more now? They worked hard to get there. If you're a poor person, 90% of the time it's because you don't apply yourself enough. Maybe something happened that forced you to drop out of school, but there's no reason you can't go back to a community college, even part-time, to get a degree and be able to get a better job.
Also, the $200,000 income limit before you get taxed a lot more? That's not even that much. That's how much a family with both the husband and wife working could make. And you get taxed more for stepping out on a limb and starting your own business? That's called tyranny in the America I was born in.

I don't really understand this picture. The Death Star pictured is from Episode 6, not Episode 4, so the context isn't really correct. I think you need to do more research. How was anything that Bush did short-term? Bush is the one who turned several years of Clinton surpluses to deficit spending, has more than doubled the deficit during his terms in office without any strategy to pay it off, and he was the one who allowed most of that debt to be purchased by foreign investors. That's right, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were funded by foreign investment. He also oversaw one of the biggest expansions of government in our history.
And where was your precious Bush when the fit hit the shan? He pretty much had his head in the sand as soon as the election started to ramp up. You can criticize how he's handling it, but at least Obama is doing SOMETHING, responding to the mess that Bush created and contributed to. And insofar as the bailout, much of that was developed before he took office.

Stop trying to force banks to loan to people who can't afford to pay them back - I don't care what neighborhood they're in or what color they are. Had the government NOT forced them to loan to low income applicants in the first place - we wouldn't be in the spot we're in. In order to make those loans happen, they had to loosen oversight regulations - which is how we got here (with the banks anyway).

Actually, England has had national healthcare for some time now, and it's worked fine for them. Like social security for us, they can't imagine life without it. Likewise France and various other European nations.

No one "forced" the banks to loan to people who can't afford the loans. While the government did try to make it easier for low-income people to get loans, it was the bank's negligence for not doing their duty in getting accurate information from the prospective buyer to ensure they could pay back the loan. The fact is, the banks exploited the system by handing out the loans, then again when they re-packaged the bad debt and sold it over and over again. The government didn't tell them to make loans without asking for actual income, or to offer ARMs that are based on credit ratings, or to jack up interest rates, etc.

For the sake of all that is America, lets hope the economy gets better. I don't care if Obama does it. I don't care if Nixon fixes it. I just want it better.
