Mar 31 2009Netflix Announces Blu-ray Renting Costs

Yesterday Netflix announced its new cost structure for adding Blu-ray access to you account, just in case you were wondering. Basically, it costs $1 more than the number of discs you can have out at one time (if you're on the 3-at-a-time plan, adding Blu-ray costs $4 a month, for the 4-at-a-time, $5 a month, etc.). So there you have it. Of course, if you're looking to save money instead of spending it, you should do what I do and only rent from The Pirate Bay. And by rent I mean download. And by download I mean I heard they have porn. Which, *poker face* I don't know anything about.
Thanks to The Superficial Writer, who's still convinced HD DVD is gonna make a comeback.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadowe's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back down where Max was travelling in an airplane and was captured by aliens that shone a blue ray tractor beam onto his plane.

All the cool kids (pervs) know that while PB is awesome for everything else, PureTNA is way better for pr0n, sheesh. (and Empornium, but they keep getting blocked by google for malicious scripts)
Oh, also last night AVG kept popping up virus alerts just while browsing PB, not even attempting to download anything.

I'll do it, for a buck? Hells yeah. Wall-E, here I come.

@MaesHughes:
Blockbuster can say they don't charge extra for blu-ray because the extra cost is built into their base price. Meaning if you don't rent blu-ray discs, you're still paying as if you were, which is even worse than Netflix's unwarranted price hike.

@15
that really makes no sense saying the only price difference is in blockbusters favor currently. The 3 at a time unlimited costs 15.99 a month compared to netflix 16.99 a month. The other lower tiers are the same price.
If the price was built in blockbuster would be higher~

I'd be happier if Netflix just charged me $1 per bluray that they actually sent me. In the 3 months that I've had bluray service, Netflix has only managed to deliver ONE bluray disk to me. Every one in my queue is "long wait".
If they were actually delivering anything for the price hike, I might consider it, but since their inventory of blueray disks is pitiful, they can kiss my ass.
Keep in mind that bluray movies cost less to buy right now than DVD's did at the time Netflix started. They are using the artificial demand of a new product to justify raising prices...this is not anything but gouging.

Is it really smart to put the more expensive to produce Blu-Ray movies in a different color envelope?
People already steal Netflix DVDs quite a bit and when they realize that the blu-rays come in blue they'll be stealing them right and left.

Netflix: $16.99
Blockbuster: $13.99

@25
For the record, Blockbuster edits movies, carries only what it deems acceptable, and is a front for the Christian Right. I'll pay a little more for the better selection. kthxbye
