The largest problem with this new mac, is its going to cost as much to buy this thing, as it would to buy a Windows, or Linux, based machine that includes a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.

Macs, in my opinion, are over-priced for what they do.

How much for a monitor?
Use the one you already have. or buy any frickin monitor you want. you don't have to buy an apple display. pc vendors typically sell you the cheapest piece of crap monitor with your "affordable" pc bundle.

It's kinda cool i guess. I don't really understand the press for smallness. The ipods are too small for my hands as it is. And the apple Air is the biggest piece of shit ever made. my vista has never crashed on me. not once.
but my mac crashes every program i use on it once a day

Also, I use mac d00ds.
Pretty much the same as PCs.
Just have a different OS that focuses on something specific.
Get a life and stop hating on computers.
They're all the same thing, but they just focus on specific things.
Mac is for art and media, while PCs are for business tools and games.
That's just pretty much what I've seen.

ok, well I was done, but sorry @39, I am an artist, I just also happen to be computer savy, so I use a pc. Macs are not for artists! They are limited in their software choices and are expensive as hell... I can render anything way faster in my 64 bit Vista environment than I ever could on anything a Mac runs, and oh yeah, I have a choice for my hardware components, if my video card gets old, I can upgrade for much less I could a Mac, I also have the ability to chose which programs I use to make music, edit video, edit photos etc. i.g. GIMP! PC's have a much more open ended platform for software development and enable things like "open source" programs. Also, what the hell do you mean "It'd be good for designing, editing photography, or uh, pretty much anything useful while on the go." On the go?! That thing aint small enough to lug around with a keyboard and monitor in your backpack, I would rather do those things on my GIANT PC which can do everything lickety split!

Please don't associate artists with Macs, this stereotypes us as being easily swayed by silly marketing campaigns that hold no value!

I am an artist as well and use a windows machine, I'd be happy to switch to mac (they work great until they overheat) except then I'd have to buy all my programs over again..

Mac should consider a free swap-out deal for expensive programs when u purchase one of their comps.

i think most cg effects are created on pc. i know that 99% of games are made on pc. i use photoshop and illustrator on my pc. and i have never had problems with pc.

Eh, if Windows is so much better than Mac OS, why does MS copy absolutely everything that Apple does (and do a pretty bum job of it)? If Vista is so hot, why are MS gearing up for the fastest ever release of a new version of their operating system? On the flip side, it's pretty dumb to say that Macs are oriented more towards art and design, since the software is the same on both platforms.

Third, I took 2 video classes in college, they used Macs, so I always took my videos home to edit on my pc in order to cut my rendering times in half and use ANY program I wanted. Screw you and your FinalCutPro... don't get a timecode error a$$-hat, and why don't you get your own name!
