Feb 27 2009Mmmm, Brains: Delicious AND Nutritious

Maybe the zombies got something right after all. Brains, as it turns out, are chock-full of healthy cholesterol. You know, the kind that makes your heart stop. That's right, a single 5.5 oz can of pork brains contains 3,500mg of heart-arresting deliciousness -- about 1170% of your daily value. Bet you can't eat just one!

Thanks to twellve, who ate two cans and then puked worse than she ever has in her life.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max and his friends car breaks down. And Max figures out he has low cholesterol and decides to eat Pork Brains. He then finds out that's the only thing they have to eat. He decides to eat his friends. A truck comes by and he hitchhikes back home.

I was shocked at first, because I was like wtf brains are pretty much 100% neurons . . . then after some digging realized that the cholesterol and fat in brain meat comes from the myelin sheath around the neurons, which makes up about 70% of the mass. So you're pretty much eating 70% pure fat. And neurons. Delicious neurons. Good job. Makes you smarter.

Funny, I know lots of Chinese who scarf pig brains the same way that certain other people scarf chicken, and they generally have a longer lifespan than most of us.

Actually this was considered a traditional delicacy to give young children as far back as even 30 years ago in Malta. Good/bad? Well, Malta's ppl are not what one might say.... 'open-minded'.. lol

I wonder if anyone has for a dare or some stupid hazing thing eaten say... 3-5 cans of this crap. If they did their cholesterol requirements would be met for a month at least.
40. Zira - March 3, 2009 10:47 PM
1. Where do you get these?
2. I say its all in that milk gravy!
41. Christina - March 5, 2009 8:59 AM
Oh Daisy - you're so silly!
When my career was stocking groceries, well, yes, that was when we all discovered the pork brains. It was fun. And then we played with the pickled pig fetuses, errr, I mean feet.
42. Pinnacle - April 9, 2009 9:05 PM
Wow, do they still make this? I'm pretty sure the Armour brand is still around...

I can't believe that I'm actually commenting on this blog regarding CANNED brains. Excuse me, but, if you are commenting on this site, and are concerned about your own health, would you eat ANYTHING CANNED? That's the question. You guys are true idiots to think that canned anything is healthy. Look at the big picture folks! Like I said, I can't believe I'm even waisting my time with such mediocrity. However, to give you a hint...fresh brains are one of the healthiest organ meats you can eat. Guess what? Have you ever heard of the blood-brain barrier? Well...NOTHING gets through that (except grape-seed extract) That's why brains are one of the best, and most healthiest foods to consume.
