Jan 15 2009R.I.P. Ricardo Montalban, Patrick McGoohan

Ricardo Montalban and Patrick McGoohan have both passed away.

Ricardo was best known for his roles as Mr. Roarke on television's Fantasy Island and as Khan, the best Star Trek villain ever. He was 88.

Patrick McGoohan played Number 6 in the 1960's spy/trippy-ass show, The Prisoner. He was 80.

Thankfully, I was raised by parents that exposed me to such movies and shows which, unfortunately at the time, I thought were stupid. Only with older age did I realize the error of my youth and see just how filled with awesome they actually were. Thanks mom and dad -- and R.I.P. Ricardo and Patrick, you will be missed.

Hit the jump for a video of each in action, Ricardo as Khan, and Patrick as Number 6.

Thanks to Nevvie, Lauren, Rich and 42 y/o undead warlock, who are welcome to come over this weekend and watch The Wrath of Khan and episodes of The Prisoner with me.

ARG FRIEST!

"Ricardo Montalban and Patrick McGoohan both passed have both passed away."
Might want to revise that one bud.

baah I saw that Ricardo Montalban passed last night on Adult Swim, but not Pat Mcgoohan.... Wtf is Pat Mcgoohan? I am sorry I don't know.

Khan on the other hand, can now reunite with his long lost buddy Hervé Villechaize

After the vid I still don't know wtf Pat Mcgoohan is. I do know that quote " I am not a number, I am a FREE MAN!' Whas/Is that a P. Mcgoohan quote?? Ifso what movie haven't I seen that has this?

nbd

@4, beat me to it!

I'm surprised it took until the 4th comment for somebody to say it actually.

Goodbye Patrick McGoohan. You were truly the greatest actor I have ever seen. Thank you for years of thought provoking programming, your imagination and being the best role model anyone could have asked for.

@4 - Nailed it. NAILED IT!

This is a sad Day. I will always remember Ricardo Montalban for His role as Armando in Escape form the planet of the apes.

Armando: You're asking me to risk imprisonment for the sake of two fugitive apes? The answer is- a thousand times- YES!

4 Kinda said it all....

FIRST BITCHES! FIRST!

oh wait.

Who?

To the last, I will grapple with thee...

From Hell's heart, I stab at thee!

For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!

First, Ricardo Montalban dies, and then Patrick McGoohan?!

Do celebrity deaths still come in threes? PLEASE don't tell me a THIRD actor I've never heard of has died!

CaaarrrRRRnne

The original Star Trek TV episode with Ricardo Montalban as Khan is very badass. The girls on the Enterprise have on some super short Star Fleet skirts. He kicks Kirk's ass and bangs a hot Enterprise chick so hard that she betrays the rest of the crew(not at the same time)

idunno who the hell the other dude was.

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max tendered his resignation to his boss and when he got home he was knocked out with some sort of stupefying gas.

When he woke up he was on an island where everyone had a number and no name.

Yours was truly a superior intellect.

Thank you, Sr. Montalban.

I miss all those people on Star Trek. I only remember Patrick McGoohan as the King in Braveheart who threw his son's lover out of the window.

Oh, and although that tower episode was pretty good, the one in The Holy Grail ("I just want to sing") was better.

He is not a number. He's a free man now!

RIP… it must've been those 15000 text messages his daughter sent the other day that pushed him over the edge…

Dos Equis should have hired Ricardo Montalban to do a few ads for them as their "most interesting man in the world" (he has a Spanish accent too, which fits perfectly)
