Jan 15 2009Delicious Light: A Gummi Bear Chandelier

Artist YaYa Chou made a chandelier by stringing gummi bears together because, goddamnit, lamps should be functional AND delicious.
Hit the jump for a closeup and a gummi bearskin rug.

Thanks to Stephen, who tried several times to make a Sour Patch Kid nightlight but kept eating them.

That is the coolest goddamn thing that has been on this page in months. Goddamnit, society may not be doomed to carnage and eternal damnation after all!
Thanks Obama!!!!

It's so... pointless, yet awesome.
What was the thought process for this? "Man, I'm bored. I think I'll go make lighting fixtures out of gummy bears. Yeah."
6. technoloagia - January 15, 2009 2:45 PM
im sure i could teleport myself with that

This probably has been brought up before, and has nothing to do with this awesome gummy post, but does anyone else say "Dyn-O-Lite!" in their heads, ala J.J. from Good Times, when they see that Dino-Lite digital microscope ad on the right hand side of the screen?

There's something really romantic about the gummi bear skin rug. I can just see it now, my lover and me, nude, panting, wrapped in the gentle sticky embrace of each others arms while getting frisky on the gummi bear rug (who would be donning a gummi blindfold because I'm shy like that). Mmmmmm.

Wow, that thing would make a great fly catcher in the warm summer months. The light bulb would begin melting it and make it all soft & gooey... stickyness for catching bugs! Awesome!

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
Thisis exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Baja gave Max a bacon sausage roll that was spiked with LSD and then fed him a few boxes of Gummy bears. Later Pat Sajack hit him over the head with a 2x4 which knocked him out. He dreamed of gummy bear chandeliers and rugs in a meat ginger bread house.

Don't click #15's link, it sends you to a page that shouts "Hey everybody, i'm looking at gay porno" & gives you a trojan. Nice pic of a guy with his own cock in his ass tho, i'll bet it's from his private collection. What a f***wit.

#20 thanks for the heads up, that's so old anyways - the goatse pic I presume
22. Madzay - January 15, 2009 7:04 PM
I'd imagine that the gummi bears might melt if you left the light on for to long....
or you'd just the thing before you even turned the light on....

Would it have taken less time to make if he used gummi worms?
27. eggs - January 16, 2009 2:33 AM
Of course not. Everyone knows bears are larger than worms. :D
28. Kate - January 16, 2009 7:50 AM
would it be wrong to make something like that but using jelly babies instead???
29. Brian - January 16, 2009 8:52 AM
@7....
No... I haven't seen a banner ad in 2 years thanks to Firefox and the Adblock add-on.
30. Tony Huynh - January 16, 2009 9:16 AM
That's insane. They should make the gummies plastic and sell it to the mass market.
31. Gail - January 16, 2009 9:26 AM
This chandelier is really beautiful. I just wonder how long it lasts before it melts into a gelatinous mass?
P.S. I see that Retard Daisy refuses to give up her Queen of the Retards Crown.
32. SiGee - January 16, 2009 10:30 AM
@7 Shut the f*** Up! you are f***in LAME.
....
I would eat the shyt outta those gummies!
33. kate - January 16, 2009 1:51 PM
Gail -
Agreed, Daisy is the Queen of Fake. Do you think it indeed her that is FAKE!!!
Daisy - Is everything FAKE!!! to you????? what the hell do you know about photoshop!??! its not as high and mighty as you think. if some one actually sat there and did a photoshopped chandelier then they have way too much time on their hands. for the love of all that is good and Zelda, LOOK STUFF UP FIRST like the artist or person who has made it.
goddam your are major FAIL.
if you think everything on this site is FAKE!! why do you insist on returning to this site!? just to piss us all of?!!??! or is there a logical explination why you insist on continue to grace us with your presence
34. SiGee - January 16, 2009 2:06 PM
@ 33
OMFG...
You will one day figure out, that you saying that , DOESN'T f***IN MATTER!
So shut the f*** up and leave Daisy alone.

All the newbies always do that.
GET OVER IT!
35. kate - January 16, 2009 2:13 PM

36. kate - January 16, 2009 2:15 PM
it just annoyed me this time that this is an Actual artists whos made it and shes proper ripping on it !! and she always mega bums photoshop too ...
37. Buddy Love - January 17, 2009 5:04 PM
You must be british kate...dumb f***. It shows. Real people don't say "proper ripping" and "mega bums" because that doesn't make any f***ing sense. Learn real english, kthxbai.
38. Buddy Love - January 17, 2009 5:09 PM
#34: I'm sure I've been coming here longer than you (not always posting) and although it's true that asking/pleading/insulting Daisy has no effect, defending her is a pretty f***ing stupid thing to do. She isn't your friend, or a 'staple' here on Geekologie. She's a nuisance, hasn't been funny since the second time she posted, is a clear f***wit and if you defend her you're dumb as shit.
