Jan 22 2009Build Your Own Atari 2600 Controller Lamp

Want to build your own giant Atari 2600 controller lamp? No problem -- all it takes is some power tools, a shit-ton of skill, more patience than my girlfriend, and a month of unemployment. It'll totally be worth it though, right? No, it won't be. And yours will probably look like shit.
Hit the jump for several more of the finished product, along with a link to the very in-depth, and very difficult, instructions.

Giant Atari Joystick Lamp [instructables]
Thanks to MoD, who beat me in the temple with a Wiimote lamp and stole my PS3.

GW apparently hasn't mastered the portal gun yet, he was trying to beam his naked self into the system & knocked it offline.

That is totally the coolest lamp I have ever seen! I would have no shame putting that on my night stand.

@12. Thats what happens when too many people constantly hit refresh over and over. The system couldnt take the firstys overload.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max made a junky lamp in wood shop, this ruined his straight A average so he brought a gun to school, and it went off in his locker. So he got Saturday detention and made friends with some cool kids.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was playing on his brand new Nintendo game system and he hit his puppy in the face with the controller while tring to bowl a perfect game. Then his neighbor Honey Bunz came over and brought the dog back to life using mouth to nose Wiisuscitation.

Shade!
This is a total lamp shade, you can see that because it shadows the light from the lamp. But there arn't any shadows in real life, only in photoshop!
This is exactly like in that movie Never Let Down where Baja was trying to build an Atari lamp shade, but he was let down by the nerd he hired, so the lamp shade never got finished. Instead Baja bought one of theese:
