Jan 20 2009BOOM, Headshot!: Sniping App For iPhone

Now you can shoot things with better accuracy thanks to BulletFlight, a $10 application available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Users can mount their iPod touch to their rifle, and then use the iPod's touch-screen to tap in details about the wind conditions, ammunition type, distance to the intended target and even the wind speed.
"Unlike other apps, BulletFlight does not output information in table format," says the application's iTunes page. "What it does do is dynamically give you the solution you need now to take that shot."
Really? Attaching an iPhone to a sniper rifle? Terrorists everywhere will laugh at you. Thanks but no thanks, I prefer to do my sniping the old-fashioned way -- with a powerful burning laser. PEW PEW!

Thanks to Tony and Larry, who only make heads explode with knowledge, son.

Fake!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadows are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where MAx got hired by the government to help them track down a sniper, and then it turned out he was being framed as the sniper.
In the end he ended up killing an old guy who used to squeal like a pig, and also Roger Murtaugh.

Gay people aren't usually snipers...iphone users are gay....following the flawed logic here?

@1
I don't think he was referring to a laser sight those don't go "PEW PEW!" and they don't burn either.

FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is the low budget version of a scene from the movie Tender Dracula where a guy calling himself God sees through brick walls with heat vision and sends someone to the afterlife with a HE bullet.

this is a cool invention! a handy tool for a marksman, and not useless as all snipers have tools like this on them for shot calculations, its incredibly hard to work out.

ok so this program is nothing new and a lot of snipers are using this especially on the higher caliber rifles. That is also not an ipod mounted in the picture and yes the shock from the rifle firing would most likely tear your ipod apart

@1: Epic FAIL!
21. jez - January 21, 2009 8:24 AM
oh and having this mounted wouldnt rip it apart if its fixed securely on a mounting rail. the accellerometer or whatever its called in the device might be damaged due to the shock but i doubt it will cause the device to malfunction. especially if you can put a shock case on it.
22. agent zero - January 21, 2009 8:33 AM
Oh yeah, every sniper needs one of these. After you figure out the shot just give that target a call and let them know to finish off their conversation with whoever they're standing there talking to. Yep, because they're about to take a round to the head! Have a good one!
23. Timbo - January 21, 2009 8:33 AM
Looks rather stupid...
@10 I've got an iPhone and I'm straight as can be you jerk
24. Pat - January 21, 2009 8:42 AM
Seems like a whole cottage industry. A $10 app, which in turn leads to custom hardware that you can use to mount your iPhone to a gun. Ugh...
25. fff - January 21, 2009 8:52 AM
@19
it's either an ipod or iphone mounted in a casing device,
it has the light sensor and home button pretty obviously shown...
26. StlDragoon - January 21, 2009 9:25 AM
Look I think it would be BADASS to use this app. Useing my ipod to kill the motherf***ers that mess with my country while listieng to Fade to Black.
PEW PEW PEW their f***ing heads off.

Maybe YOU should pull YOUR head out of YOUR ass. He said BURNING laser, not laser sight...... Meaning he's going to melt a hole through someone's eye and into their brain with a laser, not bullets. I don't think the wind can throw around a laser, correct me if I'm wrong.
You must be really embarrassed, I almost feel bad for you, almost.

You are clearly gay as can be.

Actually, that IS an ipod. It's just in an Otterbox hard case, they've just mounted an off the shelf case on a picatinny rail.
And no, the recoil would not tear your ipod apart. It would be subject to much less jarring that it would get in an hour of jogging strapped to your arm.
In other words: Kids, don't be like boredom here. Keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about.

this is nothing new...my 97 motorola startech had a program where if you threw it at someones face, it would break their nose. This is clearly a simple progression of technology of cell-phone weaponizing. I heard the new blackberries can download nuclear codes.
iPhone users are gayer than ziggy stardust bathing liberace
32. formerly SPELLINGNAZI© - January 21, 2009 3:54 PM
Thanks #28, you beat me to the punch.
@23: Yes, yes you are gay. At the very least are a tool. But I'm still sticking with gay.
33. Right Fury - January 21, 2009 3:57 PM
If it's just a ballistics calc that mounts to a p.rail? meh.
If it's a ballistics calc that can help you adjust the angle of the barrel to make longer shots then that's kind of cool.
Then again most "sniper" scopes have a graduated reticle for that.
