FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.
This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max and Baja are used for secret government tests of psychoactive agents. Their daughter is much more powerful than they ever were, able to destroy anything with only her mind. Max tries to keep her hidden, but the govt eventually finds her and tries to control or kill her using an assassin indian dressed as an orderly.
The child eventually figures it out and kills the indian and all the givernment agents.

It's not a human, it's a robot! You didn't see but at 1.40 there's a red blink in the little robot eyes. It's the end, I knew it.

Thats Daisy's replacement...she's in training...working on her never back down posts..too...

It didn't melt my heart.
It's just a poor kid whose father made her watch him while he play games that where supposed to be to her.
Once more proving that those are kids games. And people seems to love them for some reason.
Well, except Metal Gear and God of War.
8. known - December 27, 2008 2:40 PM

I was going to say, If Master Chief wasn't in there... Good thing they got to him. You dont know video game characters unless you know Master Chief.
11. Eddy - December 27, 2008 5:59 PM
I don't know if she really knows anything about them. It looks like he's been testing her on those flashcards before. I just find that slightly odd, though endearing.
Somehow whenever I read Master Chief my brain wants it to be Master Chef. It took me like a month to figure out what cooking and Halo (didn't) have in common.
12. freddy - December 27, 2008 6:55 PM
If only all girls knew as much as her

Weird but cute. Cute but weird.
15. Dandi <> - December 27, 2008 9:52 PM
Very cute!
What a great way to have fun teaching your child to improve its memory and visual cognition while having fun yourself.
Hats of to gamer dad :)
16. Mel - December 27, 2008 10:45 PM
That Yoshi one was totally a trick question. That was definitely the Yoshi from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, whom you yourself have the privilege of naming. She could've potentially said anything and it would be correct, provided the name was short enough.
Yes, my life is sad. I love you too, fellow geeks.

21. Chaz - December 28, 2008 6:14 AM
Disturbing. What a great father.
22. M - December 28, 2008 9:04 AM
He's obviously drilled her on it before, and the idea of that is scary. She's also clearly more interested in her cookie than she is in those pictures.
Stop training your kid to perform for your own amusement!
23. Thumperchica - December 28, 2008 12:24 PM
Teaching her to use flashcards at such a young age is brilliant. Her recognition/retention/audio visual skills will jump start. Go dad!
24. guate6 - December 28, 2008 12:30 PM
Writer: great one, I laughed out loud.
It's a bit cute. What's bad is that they're video game characters and not things more useful (I'm sure many would argue this, but you're probably not parents). The good thing is, as thumperchica mentioned, her skills are being improved. I do hope he upgrades and starts with colors, letters, etc.
25. Spam Artist - December 28, 2008 12:38 PM
FAKE!!!!
This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are ALL wrong.
This is the same exact scene from the movie Tender Dracula, where Dracula's posts are all deleted from a website. Dracula sues the website for racism and wins thirty million kopeks.
Later, one of the french overdubbed actresses knees the website in the groin and tells it to wet its throat.

She's so cute when she imitates Pikachu and the Little Big Planet character.
31. Timbo - December 29, 2008 8:28 AM
@22 ...get over it.
That's awesome! I'm starting my daughter right now!!
32. Bubbles - December 29, 2008 10:14 AM
I hardly understand a word she said except "Yoshi" I think if dad is going to use cue cards he needs to do something a little more educational.
33. E - December 29, 2008 10:23 AM
LAST?
34. Anwii - December 29, 2008 10:23 AM
At least the father takes the time...
I was pretty much raised by TV Programms. And much better than the evil drills i am planning with my childrens...
35. Jessica - December 29, 2008 11:30 AM
pretty rad. i'm just wondering if she knows her ABCs in addition to being able to recall video game characters for naught but entertainment's sake.
36. Head desk - December 29, 2008 7:24 PM
Of all the knowledge in the world to expose his little girl to, this man thinks video game characters take precidence. He could have totally spent better time teaching her to recognize the various X-men characters. What a douche. Where is her mother?
37. Tony Huynh - December 30, 2008 12:59 AM
That is a smart kid.
38. Jimmothy - December 30, 2008 2:43 AM
How do you guys know that the guy didn't already teach her colors, letters, and shapes? Maybe this is the next step, I think you guys are jumping conclusions that the dad is only worried about video game characters.
39. Xual - December 31, 2008 7:47 AM

43. KN - January 1, 2009 2:07 PM
From the video description:
"My 1 year old daughter Melodie knows her games. She's like a little sponge, soaking up everything (we have to really start watching our language, and stop watching Family Guy with her in the room!). This was just a test to see how long it would take for her to memorize these things. It only took a few days, going through them about 4 times a day. Each time she surprised us by remembering one from the time before."
Comments made by the dad:
"So far I've been accused of "filling her head with garbage" & have been called a "stupid parent" & "douchebag". It's just associating 20 pictures with 20 words. It's not like we don't teach her important stuff like colors & shapes. Would a video of her saying her ABC's get 100000 views? Doubt it. & she knows as much French as she does English. In fact, she says "ici transformer" (french for "here's transformer") when she gets Goomba wrong"
"She DOES know how to count, and she knows her ABC's, but would you have even clicked on a video that said "kid counts"? Doubt it."
Now, stop complaining about video games... there would probably be no complaints if it had been characters from some lame tv show "for kids" instead...
44. KC - January 1, 2009 2:41 PM
I am so making video game character flash cards for my kids!
45. enigma - January 5, 2009 3:21 AM
Thank you 43! "Mystery" solved for all unwarranted comments!
46. Anon - January 6, 2009 11:18 AM
That's seriously just pathetic. Leave the video game crap for when the kid is older. Teach them how to read first.
47. someone - January 7, 2009 4:24 AM
the cute little girl is a game pro.
even if i dont know 80% of the characters i know she's good to go.
i mean, come one. she's a little girl. give her a good clap for the efort.
SHE'S A SUPER GAME PRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
48. Badpie - January 7, 2009 1:15 PM
22. said "Stop training your kid to perform for your own amusement!"
What are you talking about? That's the only reason to HAVE kids.
49. The Head - January 8, 2009 10:30 AM
To the poster saying it’s a fake, "Photoshop job"
I’m not saying this video is fake. I’m just saying this could be very easy to fake and it has nothing to do with the image, it could be done with the audio. However, this video does not need to be faked. It’s not that amazing really. It’s a healthy child with a properly nourished brain recognizing flash cards. Most children could be smart like that if they were properly cared for.
So if you happen to have a dumb kid and you want to make a video that makes little Johnny seem smart, here’s how you do it. Place a flash card down and say to the kid “say X” the kids says “X” place the next card down and you say “Say Y” and the kid says “Y” and so on. Then you edit out your voice and replace it with you saying, “Who’s this?” Very simple,
50. Someguy - January 9, 2009 3:28 PM
If it is really fake, then how did she could act like Sackboy ?
51. Sev - January 9, 2009 11:53 PM
@49 and 50 - You two are obviously new to Geekologie. Cool it. Have a drink and kick back. We don't believe anything we see on the internet. ; )
52. Melissa - January 11, 2009 4:18 PM
Haha my friend's making fun of me since while we were watching this I was naming all the characters (that I could see their pictures clearly, at least) and getting them right... But man, do I wish my parents taught me my videogame characters when I was that little.
53. Sheridan - January 12, 2009 1:14 AM
omg cutest ever.
i can only hope my kids are that rad.
54. dude... - January 12, 2009 5:23 AM
OMG that was so cute... hats off to the dad for this. as for those who keep putting him down, piss off. it's just a dad having fun. at least he's spending time with her.
55. porkbullet - January 13, 2009 4:17 PM
Here's a tip: if you are going to record your child's ability to properly recite memorized flashcards to show off her speech ability at a young age - DON'T GIVE HER A COOKIE to be munching on through the whole video!
Other than that - it was totally awesome.
56. Just me - January 13, 2009 7:11 PM
Awww, how cute. And I have a feeling that baby is going to be intelligent..
57. AlTheCake - January 14, 2009 11:29 PM
Wow, it would have been a good list of video game characters, but you just had to throw Master Chief in there didn't you?
Halo sux.
58. Aridien - January 15, 2009 11:03 AM
This was fantastic!! I have been working on recognizing ABC's and numbers with flashcards for a while with my twins. Every day we work on it a couple times then before bed I put on Disney music and they tell me what movie it comes from. I have done this with random music as well from Moulin Rouge or Pirates of the Carribean and I have noticed a rappid change in their memory. ESPECIALLY with regards to their ABC's and numbers. It's something that they see as fun and after witnessing the improval myself, it's something we will continue to do in our house.
59. Bunny - January 16, 2009 5:42 PM
Haha, Dylan you poor fool. Master Chief is such a minor blip in the midst of some amazing characters from throughout the years.
60. Kdroid - February 1, 2009 9:32 PM
How are some of you blown away by Master Chief? She calls out Kratos, Mega Man, Samus and The Triforce, and Halo is what blows your mind? My grandmother knows who Master Chief is.
61. AssultTank - February 3, 2009 8:55 PM
I noticed a lot of people say Halo sucks, but they have never played it.
Until you play the game, you can't say anything about it.
It would be like me going and saying Fire Emblem sucks. I've never played any of them.
The ability to remember things like this is a great one to have. I'm actually glad she is being taught to remember things, it will help her immensely when she gets older.
62. Jack - February 13, 2009 12:47 AM
That's crazy!
How can she do that?
Can she play video games?
I can't believe it!
63. KarmaRocketX - February 26, 2009 2:21 PM
@46: wow. You're an idiot. Does being hateful and negative towards everything regardless of what it is get you off or something?
Obviously you missed the part where the father has commented that he DOES teach the child important things as well and the fact that she's already bilingual.
Judging by her intelligence, she'll be able to read NO PROBLEM, anyway.
ALSO Judging by her intelligence, she's smarter than you.
64. ANON! - May 13, 2009 12:10 AM
number 7 half those games were not for a kid *COUGH* *COUGH* DEVIL MAY CRY *COUGH* *COUGH* ...kinda forgot devil may cry
