Dec 9 2008I'd Eat It: Video Game Inspired Bento Boxes

Mmmm, bento boxes. They combine two of my favorite things. Bento. And boxes. Apparently Anna the red makes these delicious lunches for her boyfriend, who might very well be the luckiest guy in the world. You don't want to lose this one, boyfriend-guy. Hold on tight, man. Then yell RODEO!
Hit the jump for the rest, including some Yoshi, Professor Layton, Companion Cube and WALL-E action.

It's rather art than geek, I'd say that.
See, the thing that bothers me the most is that sushi ain't really that delectable to me. You get what I'm saying here? I mean, I'll eat balls and cream as long as it's cooked. How hard is it to fry a damn fish, alright? Habachi seems kinda better, pretty much. Here in the state of Texas, most foods have to go through a process we'd like to call... grilling. Just good old backyard barbecue.

24. Peter - December 10, 2008 11:45 AM
To tell you honestly, I think Japanese video games are so much better than American games. I mean yes, the States is really good at online/beta games(e.i. Counterstrike, WoW, and Halo) no doubt about that, but when you talk about vastness of the medium - Japan got it all. And it's the way video games are supposed to be. Most US video game companies are too much on capitalizing their games by putting them online and charge buttloads of money to users. F***ing WOW charges you by the hour. Halo 3 is so f***ed up! Xbox Live is piece of crap. I hate to spend too much on video games because it'll only get addicted to it and eventually causes me to develop a disorder.
Back in the days, there was no "Playstation Disorder." No video-games related diseases, whatsoever. Now, obsession with video games is considered a mental disorder... Holy f***! What are these kids doing nowadays? That's typically what happens when you start to play with tons of people online. You can't get enough. Most kids don't even get out of their home these days. Couldn't they bring a friend over?
I used to play video games with my brothers/cousins/friends in my house every Saturday back in the days. It was when the first Playstation came out and then Game Cube and Xbox came along. At that time when PS2 came out it was still ok. That's why I'm saying that Japanese VG's are better because they kept their reputation being child-friendly. And you can't get addicted to it. That's why I still have so much respect on Nintendo-based vg's, they always keep it real.
What happens when you spend so much money on games? You f***ing lose you mind. That's what Xbox and Blizzard what you to have. These money-starving companies only care about your money. They don't give a f*** about how their games affect their users. And these ever so popular propaganda of celebrities endorsing crappy vg's. What the f*** is that for? They should have stuck to acting and keep their f***ing mouth shut. These people don't give a damn f*** about these vg freaks.
If you have "DirectTV channel", you're familiar with this Video game tournament/League they show everynight. I was wondering... Since when did video games became a sport? And it doesn't surprises me that most of their players are ages 12 to 20. How f***ed up is that?
Sometimes I think about how people can be so naive. I just hope they'll get their wake-up call very soon.
25. known - December 10, 2008 12:18 PM
ahhh that was nice :)
26. Leeshka - December 10, 2008 12:48 PM
@24 --
Peter, what a well thought out diatribe on the dangers of video games. Jack Thompson would be proud. Couple of points of reference, though.
>" I hate to spend too much on video games because it'll only get addicted to it >and eventually causes me to develop a disorder."
Is this because you've already developed a disorder in your old age (and I do mean old. You remember the ORIGINAL xbox and playstation. Man. That's amazing)? That's classic junkie mentality. "It's not my fault, if the (product) weren't so (adjective), then I would be able to put it down." What happened to personal responsibility? I'm guessing that you're of the generation that was taught that nothing you did was wrong, nor was it your fault. Too much touchy-queery AA bullshit for my blood. Wanna know what to do when you think you're playing too much? Turn the console off. Ask your mom to drive you to the mall or something. I'm going to leave the "It'll only get addicted to it" part alone, because.... yeah.
>" That's why I'm saying that Japanese VG's are better because they kept their >reputation being child-friendly. And you can't get addicted to it."
Yes, absolutely. There's nothing more child friendly than a good old Hentai JRPG. That's clearly what I would want my child playing. The japanese aren't nearly as "child-friendly" as you'd like to believe, kid. I'd love for you to meet the avid jrpg kids who, according to you, can't get addicted to Japanese video games. They are some of the sorriest lot I've laid eyes on.... which brings us to
stupid Warcraft.
WoW is not a video game. I don't know of any "true' gamer that would classify that piece of garbage as anything but a glorified MUD. For my money, if I want to play anything that involves elves and gnomes and choosing alliances, just give me a couple D-10, find me a greasy little dungeon master, and let's get to it. I did enjoy your post. So much so, that I took time out of the job that I hold which pays for my video games (and yes, some of them are from Japan), to respond to this. I am an avid gamer. I never got into the Halo/Counterstrike/Wow nonsense that so many other people were into. I remember playing video games myself, on Saturdays, way back when the NES came out. Prior to that, it was the Atari, but the 2600 belonged to my dad, and us kids weren't allowed to play with it.
Also, I do have to call bullshit on your "Back in the days, there was no "Playstation Disorder." No video-games related diseases, whatsoever." nonsense. Anybody that ever had a nasty case of Nintendo Thumb will agree with me. It all comes back to personal accountability and taking responsibility for your own actions. Some crazy bastard with a gun is going to shoot people up whether they watched a tv show, a movie, or played a video game. Now, would you kindly go back to reading your anime?
27. Peter - December 10, 2008 1:23 PM
@26
You can't read anime. Rather, you'd watch them for they are animated pictures. You meant to say manga, right? Well, too bad. I don't read that stuff.
I don't think we have JRPG's here in the US. Or do we?
I meant to say Nintendo games. Not the whole freakin Japanese video game dynasty. Maybe just the ones that we have here in the States that is Japanese of origin.
Come on! What's so bad about Hentai? It's just like porn.
28. Leeshka - December 10, 2008 2:00 PM
@27 You're right. I did mean manga. I was absolutely wrong, and I do apologize for my error. A simple mistake, since I can't stand either of them (oh, except for Ninja Scroll... the good one). Sure, if you're talking about Mario, Pokemon and Katamari, they're absolutely child-friendly. I will retract all of the nasty things that I said, since you meant Nintendo, and I'm a fan-girl of the old school.
Ugh. Don't even get me started on Hentai. I'm a mom, and the whole idea of sexualizing young girls just freaks me right the f*** on out. Of course, that's just my opinion, made special for me and by me. This only applies to my experience.
I just hate people making these broad generalizations about how Video Games are the devil, they're destroying the world. I didn't even get to the part how I completely agree that video games aren't a sport (but in my opinion, neither is pool or car racing)... they're games. You don't actually accomplish anything (unless you're getting those tasty, tasty achievement points).
Thanks for catching the anime thing. I kept looking at it thinking that there was something wrong with my comment... that was it! <3
29. GINORMAGANTUAN - December 10, 2008 4:23 PM
hey, i have a job..... i play online games, a wife and kid on the way..... played oldschool shit like famicom and such....... but i am not addicted to video games, it's just like anything else, just some entertainment. So why soend your whole life glued to the TV, shit, you only live once right, think about all the actual cool shit you could be doing instead of playing gay shit like halo..... or gay ass WOW. I love me some FPS action but come on! who gives a shit if you haven't unlocked all the different uniforms in R2 or any shit like that, it doesn't affect your gameplay so why spend all them hours trying to unlock shit? I always felt that as soon as i unlocked something it quickly became no big deal, so why even give a f***? you know..... IT'S A F***ING GAME. yes games are fun, but not thay aren't everything......
30. Daisy - December 10, 2008 4:49 PM
@29 you have a wife on the way?
31. Ginormagantuan - December 11, 2008 4:57 AM

For hating on WoW you truly are f***ing retarded. I could almost agree with you but you're clearly a moron. Talking about playing some FAKE AS SHIT D&D with some faggots in a basement in between thinking about the first time you touch a booby (I bet it'll be soft!) and having your mom bring down cookies, rather than experiencing the greatness that is World of Warcraft.
Fock off und die.
