Nov 3 2008World's Largest Cruise Ship Being Built

ship-1.jpg

Royal Carribbean is having the world's largest cruise ship built for them, and it's gonna be ready to set sail next November. The Oasis of the Seas is being billed as a traveling city, and will include not one but TWO 24-hour buffets.

The liner will span 16 decks, encompass 220,000 gross registered tons (GRT), carry 5,400 guests and feature 2,700 staterooms.

Almost 1200 feet long, 154 foot wide and rising 213 feet above the water line, the Oasis of the Seas will be able to host 3,000 crew to service every passenger's need.

Oasis of the Seas will be the first ship to tout the cruise line's new neighborhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which include Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.

Remind you of anything? No? I'm talking about the Titanic. Remember that one? It too was touted as the latest and greatest in shipage, and we all know what happened to it. Yep, I think there's a definite lesson to be learned here. "Jack, I'm flying!"

Hit the jump for a bunch more pics, many in stunning rendered detail.

First!!!

jesus christ!!

im going to go on this thing, its freaking amazing, and now there is something that will make my cock look normal size

its already been built...
its on the high sea as we speak

holy allah!!

And damn, that's huge. Where's the landing pad for my private helicopter though?

I wonder what tickets would cost on this thing

Kinda late guys, but thanks fo da update.... Sidenote.... Most cruise ships 2day are like 2-3x bigger than da Titanic was.... Carnival is constructing theirs next.... Expect big things

Expect tkts to be from $1200 - 5500

Fake!!!

Looks like it's done by Corel Drawing. The Shadows are too dark and the ship is enlarged. It's actually just wood.

You could tell it's a scene from Big Momma's House where Malcolm was told to build Noah's Ark.

i would make it with a glass bottom

Look out for icebergs.

alright, i'm going to go ahead and jinx the shit out of it. ahem.

"God, this mighty ship that is built by man, has no flaws, and in no way can you bring it down. No way will any freak accident happen, at all. amen."

And people wonder why the oceans are rising?!

@13, Now when it sinks from a freak accident, we know why now. Thanks mamadough, for claiming the lives of thousands of people you never even knew.

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its fake, the shadows are all wrong.

It kinda looks like Max's boat model from the movie Never Back Down.

@15, chill out. im just being an asshole. and it won't be a problem if they have enough life boats.

@17, I'm chill. I knew you were being an asshole, so I was merely returning the flavor.

huge gay cruise. i'm in.

What posseses people to go on cruises? I can't think of anything less imaginative or interesting to do for a vacation.

"and it won't be a problem if they have enough life boats."

Now, that's funny!

On a related note, how difficult would it be for a nut job terrorist to ram one of these things with a boatload of C-4?

I went on their Adventure of the seas ship, which was pretty damn big @ 3500 passengers. I'd cruise on this thing for sure!

@22, You're gross. I don't know why I wasted my time.

#20

if you have a good itenary, you're ported nearly every day. it's a great way to see a different island/city/country each day of your trip. They dock each morning and leave port each evening.

This is EXACTLY what we needed!

@27, did you mean W?

this looks like a good way to die with thousands of other people, knowing you gave your money to a nice company with morals
who the hell would go on that?!

as I said, jesus christ!

first!

what i wouldnt give to sink that thing. the only iceburg big enough to sink it would be the continent of antarctica. hmmmmmm. (this is me schemeing.)

I bet this thing eats gas like nom nom nom nom.

Should've named it the RMS Blumpkin (why not?)

This bitch is dying to sink.

They should bring Airships/Blimps back, I mean we have the technology to avoid another Hindenburg...

So... how much security do you need on one of these. Or is this the suppose to be the cruise ship you take your wife on and kill her?

oh yes just what a person wants for their vacation, to sit around thousands of loud, obnoxious white-trash americans pushing their way through the all-you-can-eat buffet. GROSS and so unnecessary. they should have saved their money and paid their poor eastern european and asian staff better wages on the other 3000 ships currently floating around right now.
Fine I'll go....

The stunning rendered detail really brought it to life don't you think?

Its almost big enough to carry Rosie on one of her gay cruises.

Yeah guys because the Carribbean where this thing will be sailing is full of ice burgs. Really. I mean that. All over the place down there. In those 75 degree waters. Really...

What icebergs? We already melted most of them today.

Good going, gas guzzlers!

Noah's ark anyone?

Think of all the exciting communicable diseases you can be exposed to on this mother!

crazy shit

Am I the only one who remembers what happened the last time somebody tried to pull this shit?

@14, LMAO!

reading everyones conversations is rly entertaining. this ship looks amazing. cruises are wonderful. i have been on five so far, and i am only 18. four to the carribean and one to alaska. all royal carribean and one holland america. you meet so many interesting people. its a great way to have fun and experience different places with great history and interesting culture.

@44, which Racial Slur was that supposed to be?

This ship has not been completed yet. It has not even been floated out. It is still under construction and will not cruise until next fall. The tickets are already on sail. The gentleman that said it has already been built is thinking of Royal Caribbean's last 3 ships: The Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and the Independence of the Seas which all 3 hold the current largest ship record. They are in the Freedom Class. This new one is in the Oasis Class which is totally new and will blow the mind with its inovations and "firsts". First with interior balconies, first with a merry-go-round, first with twin surf riders, first with floating/elevated/moving bar, first aquatheater, first two story all glass wall balcony cabins etc.

OMG #14 LoL tell that to someone, seriously. I wonder if anyone thought of it.

But yeah this is cool. What's with the last pic though? Is that a stadium of some sort? Are they housing dolphins in it to do shows? Because I mean really if they are that's f***ed up. Lol rock climbing. This thing is like Disney on water. Minus the characters and happy times.

Even it did start to sink, the people towards the top of the boat wouldn't even notice for a few days.

The company I work for makes this shit,
sorry, makes this ship.

One of our agents is already boking tickets.
check out www.Ticketpro.com/carriebeancruise

You've got to pay for it in gold coins since the Dollar is
swaying like waves below a cruise shit.

wait.
did we already try something like this once...
and didn't it fail epicly?

oh what was it called...
damn..

Duhh people, it looks fake you ding-dong's because it is a "artist rendering" or a "example" of what it IS going to look like when it is done being built. SO it probably WAS done with Corel or Photoshop.

you are all stupid

Unless the economy improves substantially, this ship will be known as Bankruptcy of the Seas.

The draft seems to be very small in comparison to the superstructure. This thing will roll like a cork in anything over sea state 2..." Puke bags are now being distributed on the Lido Deck." Come on people, sometimes big is not best, especially at sea.

large boy hmm
