I'm gonna say it: the Zune is a shitty music player. The ad tells me this. And if it's real, MS is probably hoping that bad press is better than no press at all. I guess they're taking lessons from Britney and Amy. This is seriously f***ed up.

I can't see this ad making anyone run out to buy a Zune. Brand awareness will be increased, but why do it this way? Expect sales to go down the toilet once this gets out. Really bad idea. Why not show Amy Winehouse shooting up while listening to her Zune?

a spec ad means an individual art director or copywriter (or team) made it for their portfolio. microsoft would have never been presented it, much less have paid for the presentation.

I'm the only impartial person here (especially you, #52) -- I use Macs and PC's at work and at home. They both suck. They both fail when you can't afford for them to. They both have glitches. Apple makes better hardware but, then again, if I forked over for a PC what I dropped on my MacPro Quad, I'd have a bulletproof PC, too. PC has the open architecture going for it and I can afford to build a new one every other year. Apple is catching up in the open department but I doubt they'll ever sell barebones.

Nope, the real difference is Apple PEOPLE and PC PEOPLE. Apple people are like those people who insist on driving only German cars. Are you all that gullible to actually believe this is a legit ad? 1st give away is how pixelated the Zune logo is at the end of the ad: obviously inserted post-production from the main video clip. 2nd: this would never air on US television which is where Microsoft would base most of the advertising campaign in (I'm not even sure it would pass for most Euro tele either).

This ad is NOT real. It's NOT fake either.

It's a spec ad. Spec means speculative. It's not commissioned by the company, a separate designer does it apart from the company for fun and for his resume.

Spec ads do have the potential to become real ads (like the iPod touch ad) but I doubt this one would.
